Oh lord, do I have a set of swollen trotters on me tonight 🤣🤣 probably didn’t drink enough water today, probably sat down too long and have been up later than I planned. It’s not like I ever had the shapeliest of pins but these are some serious cankles I’m sporting.

kept joking to MrDN that I would get an Only Fans account going through my pregnancy to cover my mat leave/extreme lack of mat pay but I’ll be honest, even the most hardcore of preggo fetishisists would find this tough going 🤣🤣🤣

Been for another private scan this evening (very lucky, very anxious) and I could NOT believe how active our babies are at 10+3 😭🤍🤍 I'm so happy to see they're growing and are both measuring 10+3. I'm so anxious about vanishing twin syndrome or something happening especially as we're having to sell our cars, buy new ones, buy double of things, etc.

I've been saying I could feel flutters too, not all the time, but occasional, and the sonographer said it's very likely given it's my second pregnancy and there's two bopling around. I honestly still can't believe it.

I’ll be 21 weeks on Friday and still barely feeling flutters 🙁 it’s my first one and I do have good core muscle tone, and I know baby was moving round loads at our 20 week scan on Friday because the sonographer kept telling baby off for wriggling away but I feel like I should be feeling more and am getting pretty anxious - please say there are others of you in here who didn’t feel much at this point?! I want to have scans literally every day to check that everything is okay 😂🙄 I’ve also told my new boss about baby today and she was so lovely about it so that’s a weight off at least - now just got normal pregnancy worries rather than job ones too 😂

I really wasn’t sure could feel anything by the time I was at my 20 week scan and the sonographer said that was normal, especially as it was my first, and she told me a good guage was by the time I had my 24 week midwife appointment that I should be feeling something. And I was but even then I was still a bit unsure. I have a posterior placenta as well, I think where the placenta is makes a different too! The best way I can describe early movements was like that sensation you get on your eyelid when you’re tired, it sort of pulses. It was like that but obviously in my lower abdomen.
You can always ring maternity triage anytime you’re worried. I did once at 29 weeks I think it was, I felt his movements had been less on that particular day. They had me come in and check me with the doppler. The midwife found his heartbeat immediately and she said she felt him kick at the doppler. I didn’t feel the kicking but I could hear his heartbeat. She did offer that I could stay to see the on call obstetrician if I was still worried but that was enough to put my mind at rest. She ended up referring me for an extra scan for peace of mind which I had within a few days and he was tip top. I wasn’t made to feel stupid for going in or ringing them at all.

That’s what I’ve been going on too, 24 weeks - I am just naturally such a control freak and a “what if” thinker that I keep jumping to worst case scenario! I do feel the odd movement, feels almost like a bubble popping or a fish flopping 😂 mostly like now when I’ve been lying awake and can’t get back off to sleep, if I’m going to feel anything at all it’s usually late at night or early morning. I think it’s because we have access to so much information that it’s hard to actually pinpoint the useful stuff, I have a friend who is a few weeks behind me with her first and she thinks she can already feel the odd flutter so I worry I’m not feeling enough! I’m glad you had a similar experience with your first too, and I’m glad you didn’t feel silly or judged for calling maternity triage, I feel like I might be doing this a bit myself! If I have learned anything from pregnancy so far it is that I cannot be little miss control freak with this part of my life 😂 my mum and my partner keep saying that it is a very good learning experience for me 😂

Every single body and pregnancy is so different so please try not to compare movements. Your friend’s baby could just be in a different position - you just don’t know. With my first I didn’t feel anything until about 23/24 weeks and with my second I didn’t feel anything until 22 weeks. Everyone bangs on about baby’s routine but mine doesn’t have one. Some days they’re chill other days like they’re auditioning for river dance. So that doesn’t help and I know exactly how you feel as I’m like “should I be going to triage more?!” Am I not taking something seriously that I should or am I worrying too much. It’s a mind duck! But like everyone says - don’t feel you can’t go and get checked. A relaxed mind is better than a very stressed one.

This honestly makes me feel much better! I know from our 20 week scan that baby is moving a lot, but it doesn’t translate to me feeling it a lot! I have times when I do feel it a lot like today when I woke up at 4:30 and haven’t got back to sleep and there are some times I don’t feel it at all! I don’t think baby has a particular routine for movements that I’ve noticed, just that when I’m lying doing not much else I can feel it more, I guess because I’m not distracted by other stuff! Honestly you’re so right - this whole experience is such a mind duck 😂 a joyful one but still a mind duck 😂

I thought I’d be so much more chill second time around. LOL. I still feel this at 33weeks. There’ll be little taps, sometimes I’ll only feel it via my hand on my stomach (🤷🏼‍♀️) and other times little one kicks like a mule.

that’s why this forum is so nice because you can just download your thoughts and I guarantee you, someone else will feel the same way and you’ll feel less alone.

I’m 37 weeks, nearly 38 weeks, and still can barely feel anything

I hope I didn't freak anyone out by saying I feel flutters at 10 weeks!! There is two in there though each in their own sac so double the size and I already look around 20 weeks pregnant. I felt movement around 16 weeks in my first pregnancy which is considered early still, and most of my "mum friends" (two secs let me vom in a bucket after saying that) didn't feel anything at all until 24 weeks or after. Every pregnancy is so different and every body is so different!

Hey Fishsticks. I can’t remember what type of twins you’re having but we’ve decided not to buy anything yet as so much can happen during the pregnancy even once you’re passed the stage of vanishing twins. We are MCDA and in the amber zone at the moment with the size discrepancy between the two being larger than we would like at 19 weeks, so are likely to need laser ablation as an intervention with the hope to save both babies or at least one.

I’m grateful we’ve not yet made a decision on the car, bought double of anything yet as I feel that if this doesn’t go our way, it would make it even harder to see all those things.

I don’t want to be a downer and everyone is different, I guess I just wanted to share in case it was helpful x

No not at all! Second one for you and you’ve got two jumping around in there!! I felt tiny flutters at probably 18 weeks but it’s not got much more than that and I was anxious that it “should” be different now. I think there’s just so much out there that it makes us paranoid that our babies aren’t doing what they “should” but each baby, woman and pregnancy is different! I’m delighted for you that you can feel them already!

Apart from one other friend who I don’t talk to a great deal I’m the first of my close friends to get pregnant so I can’t chat to them, my mum barely remembers much about being pregnant with me or my brother because we’re both mid-late 30s, partner doesn’t have a great relationship with his mum or sister and his stepmum was always child free by choice, so apart from my sister in law I have nobody to offload to or discuss experiences with - delighted to now have a whole forum to thought dump 😂

Do you know the position of your placenta and or uterus? That can affect things. And don’t worry, it’s still early. They definitely ramp up at some stage

I’ve worked out that it’s me that has the routine of feeling movements, rather than the baby having a routine necessarily. During the week when I’m at work and more desk based or driving, it’s easier to be a more focussed and aware of movements. On the weekend when I’m doing other stuff, I’m just less aware and think that’s how I ended up at maternity triage on a Sunday evening when things were actually ok, I had been so busy I’d not had the time to pay attention and then when I was sat there ‘paying attention’ he was probably having a sleep so I got worried!
In bed at night tends to be a good time because we’re lying still, but every baby and every body is different!

According to the info screen in the hospital obstetrics clinic waiting room yesterday (which I saw lots of and learned lots because I was waiting for AN HOUR (*), baby's also move less when you're up and about moving because the swaying/rocking motion of your movement soothes them, whilst when you're at rest they're more likely to be a-wriggling.

(*) very fun trip.

I have to go for extra checks because of the SNRI I'm on and there being a tiny tiny elevated risk of bleeding (which is much less than the overall risk to baby if I were to stop taking SNRI etc etc etc). Anyway, it's one of those where you go in one room for pee and blood pressure with a nurse, then back to the waiting room to wait for obstetrician. I'm already stressed out because when I got there I COULD NOT PEE INTO MY SAMPLE TUBE so I'm sat in the waiting room for half an hour stressing because I didn't pee, and then started needing to pee but didn't want to get up and go to the loo because sod's law she'd come out and call me as soon as I'd gone and I was alone and didn't fancy turning round to the random couple behind me and try and explain and unload the responsibility on them that I need to go and pee can you listen out for Lily Kestrel and tell them I'm peeing if they call me. ANYWAY so then the nurse calls me and I'm like 'listen I didn't pee, can I go and pee now' and she's like 'you what why didn't you go while you were waiting' 'well I didn't want to miss you if you called me' 'FINE I'll be in the door with my name on it' so I go and pee and then go to look for the door on the corridor and there is no door with her name on it so then another nurse is like 'what are you doing here' 'I'm looking for [name]' 'she's in the door with Blood Pressure on it' (*throws arms up in air in frustration*) off I go

She keeps calling me Katie. My name is not Katie. I'm like I'm not Katie. "Oh sorry I know, [Lily]." *Five seconds later* "So Katie do you smoke" She takes blood pressure and it's high, one over what it should be. She takes blood pressure again and it's high, one over what it should be. And pee has protein in. This is a risk for early sign of pre-eclampsia, Katie. Back you go to the waiting room, wait for doc.

I'm sat FOR AN HOUR WAITING TO BE CALLED BY THE DOCTOR thinking omg my blood pressure is high omg omg omg, it's so hot and loud and there's so many people and I'm just sat there freaking out.

Anyway go to see doc and she's like well it's been an hour I'll do your blood pressure again and it drops by four. So I have to have bloods anyway but it's probably nothing.

Omg that is WILDLY frustrating. Hopefully all is ok, that would have raised my blood pressure, too!

it may be genetic, my mum was 34/35 when she had me (which I suppose nowadays is highly regular but in the early 90s in the provincial Midlands, it seems she may as well have been 65) and used to be constantly referred to as 'geriatric' by her regular midwife. She said every time she got to appointments and this midwife took her blood pressure it was through the roof and whenever anybody else took it an hour later it was fine 🤣 🤣 🤣

Placenta is on the back wall so that’s not affecting it, only thing I do know about it is that it is slightly low but my midwife says it’s not uncommon and in most cases the uterus will stretch and grow enough for it to correct itself. I think it’s just still early and I’m on my feet a lot so don’t have much opportunity to feel baby move! I think also there is so much information out there that this is almost too much and it’s so hard to filter out the “right” stuff. I do tend to go to worst case too so knowing that if I haven’t felt it much by 24 weeks I need to let maternity triage know has me convinced that will be me. Pregnancy as an overthinker is exhausting 😅
