I’ve just had my booking appointment at 10 weeks and the midwife was absolutely lovely but when I said I was thinking of a c-section and my reasoning (severe hip dysplasia which causes a lot of pain) she didn’t really comment other than confirming that’s what I wanted, and when I said I was open to suggestions she jumped on it and said she could definitely arrange someone to talk me through options. Is that normal? Is there a reason why they wouldn’t want me to have a c-section?

Is this your first pregnancy? You’re absolutely within your rights to choose, but I do think they like you to explore options with a first pregnancy if you’re open to do so as it obviously is major surgery, and then changes the game if you have any more pregnancies after having a section. I had an elective section with my first and while it was absolutely the right choice at the time, with hindsight I wouldn’t choose it again for my first. I ended up having another section as I didn’t want to be induced as the risks of an emergency section when going for a VBAC are much higher if you’re induced. There’s also the risk of uterine rupture which limits your options for a VBAC- for example I was advised against a waterbirth on the MLU. I could have still gone for it but it would have been against guidance meaning if anything went wrong they wouldn’t accept responsibility.

One of the team today has came in with whooping cough so I’ve sent them home as I am fuming that they’d risk spreading it! Let alone selfishly for me being pregnant 🫠

Anyone had to see a specialist for a thorough scan? 24 weeks and limited movements but I have an anterior placenta. The hospital are sure everything is fine but the dr said I should still be able to feel a pattern of movements or some significant movements by now. I had a growth scan and everything was great but got to have this thorough scan with a specialist in the next few weeks. Would just appreciate some reassurance!

I’m on my second pregnancy with an anterior placenta this time. It’s definitely taken me much longer to feel a pattern of movements. In fact I think I only really started to feel anything around 24/25 weeks and only since around 30 weeks that I’ve felt a pattern! My midwife hadn’t raised any concerns about the lack of movement so I didn’t really think anything of it. You’ll probably find by the time your scan comes around that you’re feeling much more regular movement.

I'm almost at full term with an AP and mine still doesn't really have a consistent pattern, still has quiet days and still doesn't really respond to anything, it just does it's own thing. So far *touch wood* everyone is saying baby is perfectly happy and healthy. I've just had to sort of rely on trusting my gut and just taking notice if there's any significant change

Same here. Now at 38 weeks and I can’t really see a pattern at all, but the midwives/consultant look at me like I’ve got two heads when I say that and remind me to go in for monitoring if I don’t feel anything for a few hours. I’d literally be in there every other day if I did that.

I'm either ravenous or completely uncomfortably full at the moment. It's like being on an all inclusive but I'm in the office

Yep, this is the best description 🤣 (minus the free booze) my first trimester was insane I literally ate all day and nothing satisfied me.
I was a bit too skinny when I conceived so I think it was my body telling me to get on with it, lay down some large and grow a baby.
I thought I’d hate putting on weight but I’m quite enjoying my bits and a being bigger 🤣

When do you find out where your placenta is lurking? Is it at the 20 week scan? Nobody’s said so far/its not in my notes on Badger Net or whatever it’s called.

I can’t decide if I can feel Junior or not yet. I’m overweight which I think means it might be a little left immediately obviously to me at least externally. I’ve occasionally felt like I’ve had butterflies in my stomach but lower where my uterus is. Occasionally I feel something that is a tiny bit like a period cramp. Not painless but also not painful enough to worry about if that makes any sense at all? Forgive me, I was daft enough to think being on holiday would make my pregnancy insomnia go away. What a fool I am 🤣. But to be fair in the 2 hours I was wide awake in the night in between the 4 times I got up for a wee I thought that maybe, just maybe, I could feel something. Or maybe I’m in that ‘drunk’ stage of sleep deprivation. I got back to sleep to have wicked dreams about massive spiders in my house, so that was kind of my brain ☺

Before Baby Lava I had a missed miscarriage so naturally I’m anxious af although less than my last pregnancy!

At your 20 week anomaly scan - it’s very detailed and they go through everything like blood flow to the placenta, brain, liver and kidneys etc.

I think I’m feeling lots of kicks. At first I just thought maybe it’s my guts making gas but they’ve become more frequent.

ahhh ok, so I will hopefully know more next week! I think I’ve had the gas feeling! But I am also extremely gassy in this pregnancy. Which I’m blaming on the DNA from my husband, who is a typical farty fella.

I’m right that this isn’t your first? Seems like when it is your first you’re less likely to feel things early. But maybe I just don’t know exactly what I’m supposed to be feeling 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Ha ha! It’s my second but it’s been a very different pregnancy! I’m the opposite and my guts have just shut shop so I’m not sure what’s bump and what’s poo just building up 🤣🤣🤣🤣

It’s really hard to explain the feeling of early kicks. It’s almost kind of like when you have an eye twitch but internally? So kind of like a larger pulsing but kind of like a bubble popping sort of. It’s so hard!

just to reassure about kicks as well, I didn’t get very obvious movements in my second pregnancy until about 22-23 weeks and I have a posterior placenta! It’s all so different for every single pregnancy, my first I was feeling earlier!

Me too!!! I googled it and it said it was a sign of labour 🤣 the worst thing is when you do your entire shower routine, hair wash, shaving (the bits I can reach lol), the whole 9 yards…and then you need a tit again 🥲🥲

I have been struggling with constipation which is a weird swerve from my pre-pregnancy life where my anxiety caused me to have the runs every morning without fail. I went all out with apricots this morning and went back into night time magnesium supplements over the last few today has been a bit more, errr, successful!

Thank you. I will allow myself to get a bit anxious about everything. I always feel a bit nervy in the lead up to.a scan, even the private ones I have willingly booked and paid for. A sudden fear that they might break bad news to me I guess. MrDragName is trying to be very involved and has been reading his special ‘so, you’re going to be a Dad’ book so asks me quite a lot about whether or not I feel anything and I’m always a bit ‘I’m not sure… mayyyybe’ and I think he’s very excited for the opportunity to feel something from the outside. Bless him. He’s a really good egg.
