Hi guys hope you don’t mind me jumping in just popping in for a rant. 41 and having the worst pregnancy known to man (or woman) . 17 weeks and have been bleeding since 12. Found out I had a haematoma at 14 weeks. That has now gone but I spent a night in hospital and my recent diagnosis is low laying placenta, cervical ectropian and thrush. Hooray for me. Baby is doing good thank god. I just feel so alarmed every time I bleed even though it’s small amounts. Sorry just coming on to rant and see if anyone has had anything similar. Thanks xx

Had this with my first pregnancy so really feel your pain! The bleeding mostly stopped for me at 20ish weeks but I had a couple of random bleeds (presumably from the ectropian) in the third trimester.

Thank you for this ! So reassuring. Just been a rough ride after 11 years of trying to now having loads of complications. Appreciate you reaching out made me feel better x

Are wearable pumps worth it? I have no idea what I should get, Is it better to buy once I've stablished if I have supply?

@Ljb1984 hope the bleeding subsides soon, it's so difficult to be at peace when this happens.

I think I've developed an aversion to tap water FFS 🤣 it just tastes off, thought it was my refillable water bottle having gone manky but I've since tried a different water bottle and two different glasses and nope. Squash is fine, but my dentist won't be thrilled with that. That said, our pipes froze in January and not knowing how long we'd be waterless I panic bought a load of 5L bottles of mineral water which have been sat in the back of a cupboard for however long. Unforeseen silver lining

Just interested to know what other’s experiences are of using a pregnancy exercise ball thing the second time round - I’m 28 weeks so know I should get it down from the loft soon but the thought of my 3yo booting it all over the house is off putting 😂

For the breast pump queries, I’d wait until you know if you’ll definitely be able to Breast feed and It can really depend how your supply is as to what you’ll want.
They’re certainly not a must have item unless you want to give a bottle (some people choose to combi feed with formula rather than express) and you shouldn’t need it straight away unless you’re really struggling, even then Amazon will deliver next day.
If/when you do come to buy though have a Google of how to measure the correct flange size bearing in mind boobs will change when milk comes in.

I’m back on the raspberry leaf tea after it gave me awful braxton hicks last week 😂 it tastes so good! Even my partner drinks it 😅 dunno what’s gonna happen to him, maybe he’ll grow a uterus?!

Same! Mr Shinythings is especially pissing me off today by existing. Wondering if I'm getting a hormone surge towards the end.

I have a question re. early private scans. I’ve heard mixed reviews about them. I’m 6 weeks tomorrow but feeling incredibly anxious as both my mother and sister have had multiple losses. My sister has said she’s heard quite a lot of negative things about private scans…. Have people had early scans and how did they go?

ive always had a positive experience - the first I had very early on they dated me two weeks earlier than I thought, and did not placate me or hide that that may not be a good sign, that then tied in with subsequent NHS scans which unfortunately ended in loss. My most recent pregnancy I had 2 early scans for reassurance (6 weeks and 10 weeks) and all was fine. It was good as they obviously spend heaps more time than NHS sonographers to take good pictures and things and of course having the control of going to see the baby for reassurance when I wanted was helpful following a loss.

if you plan to go as early as you are then be prepared it will likely be a transvaginal scan as it’s difficult to see anything at all with an abdominal scan, my NHS scans before 12 weeks in the early pregnancy unit were also transvaginal. People can be put off by this but it’s just standard practice and you can, of course, decline.

Most of us on here went for private scans at one time or another to my knowledge!

congratulations!!!

With my first baby I’d booked an early scan with window to the womb at 7 weeks but they called me to rebook and wanted me to wait til closer to 9 weeks. Not really sure why as loads of places will happily scan from 6 weeks. I know there’s sometimes a chance of you not being as far along as you think and maybe not a heartbeat quite yet which could be why it’s better to wait. At around 9 weeks they did an internal and it went fine.

At my 12 week nhs scan a few weeks after they said those places tend to not be medically trained. Not sure how fully true that is but at a later scan with them they got my placenta position wrong 😂

We have had quite a few private scans in this pregnancy, I think we had them at 8 weeks (early reassurance), 16 weeks (gender reveal scan), 22 weeks (because I was emotional and wanted to see the baby lol) and 29 weeks (5D scan), and honestly I’ve had such an amazing experience every single time. They have been so thorough, they measure everything as well to tell me how baby is measuring, it’s such a special experience.

I cried at our 8 week scan when I heard the heartbeat, so I’d say 100% go for it, it was an abdominal scan too. But they make you so comfortable and relaxed

This is all super helpful. Thank you all so much with sharing your experiences. I definitely am not planning on doing it just yet but the wait until 12 weeks feels too long, so thinking about doing one at the 8/9 week mark as that wait feels a little more manageable. Thank you again!

I think I had a private scan around 7 weeks because I was so anxious and just wanted reassurance that the pregnancy was in the right place etc. Although she was only a tiny blob on the screen then, hearing the heartbeat was so reassuring and definitely made it all feel more real!

I have had 1 each with both of my pregnancies and found both really positive and I used different companies for each. Both reassured us and was well worth the money and time.

Has anyone had a 4D scan and if so what week did you have this at?
I had one with my eldest at 28 weeks, my 2nd at 24 weeks and this baby last week at 31 weeks. The one at 28 weeks was definitely the best and more clear scan. They do say 28 weeks is the best time to have them done.
