I had exactly the same chat with the GP. I’ve had a bit of a run in with an anti-SSRI GP in the surgery who made me feel really awful about being on them whilst trying to conceive (and awful about lots of things! I thought picking a female GP would be good but nope!) but I found a kind GP when I needed to go back up a dose and I was actually due to talk to him about NHS tests ahead of private IVF, but I became pregnant and so was able to make the conversation about my meds instead. He was super balanced about it and made me not feel like a complete failure.I get this I suffer badly from anxiety as well and when I found out I was pregnant (around 4/5 weeks) I had a call with a doctor to discuss about the meds I am on, was on a few for different conditions(some I had to stop) but the main one being Sertraline for anxiety. She was great and spoke through everything with me and the potential risks are very low based on the research they have done. And it's a balance between making sure my mental health still stays stable as well, which is a rollercoaster in itself, although I did feel guilty but she was really reassuring about it all.
I also spoke through it with my midwife as well and she did a whole mental health questionnaire with me as well and the perinatal mental health team then review that as well. And there is additional support available if needed. I imagine it does vary from trust to trust.
But yeah definitely speak to your midwife about it all at your booking appointment as well.
I also found that after my 12 week scan I have started to feel a little less anxious but I know this will go up and down for me the further i get along!
