I got a next to me crib (mamas and papas lua bedside crib), it looked really handy and tbh I’ll probably not want to get out of bed

I had my 20 week scan today! All looking good, baby is measuring a bit big, I should have known because my husband has a big head 🥲 dunno how I’m gonna push his big headed baby out 🫣 also had my whooping cough in one arm and flu in the other

she also told me I have an anterior placenta which makes sense because I haven’t felt a whole lot of movement, just flutters here and there

I've been staring at my boxed next to me crib for the past month or so and it suddenly came over me to want to get it assembled but I'm worried that's it's not going to fit properly with the bed as it's very close to the floor and then there's our two lovely big cats who are the most gentle souls but are used to having access all areas and I don't now how they won't want to snuggle in it
I know at some point the bedroom will have to be shut off to them but I'm so bloody emotional about rocking their little world

I have an anteria placenta and didn't properly feel her until I was about 24 weeks, now I feel her throughout the day and it's beautiful. Not massive though and I'm 30weeks tomorrow. Not sure if it will get more as time goes on but I am happy with what I feel now.

I was also told she was measuring big but when I went for an extra scan it all came back normal. I have another one in a few weeks to check again so we will see. They are little tinkers before they are even here haha

I will be getting a next to me crib but zero idea which one!

I personally don’t think it’s worth spending on “extras”. Last time I put it in place and I don’t think I even lifted the side for the whole time we used it.
This time I did use the rock function occasionally, I also tilted it due to reflux then read you’re not supposed to so stopped that but neither were essential and baby wouldn’t stay in it so I took it out after about 4/5 months.
As long as it fits and meets safety regs, for how long they last, I don’t think you need to go mad x

Legs cramps and aches... What the hell??!! So I already have horrendous pelvic girdle pain and lower back is in agony. I can't sleep properly because of the pain and always having to turn over onto each side throughout the night but due to the pain when doing so it completely wakes me up everytime. And now the legs aches, why??! And what can help? I'm assuming nothing?
Although it really doesn't sit right with me ( probably because it's my first ) I have started taking regular paracetamol however they barely take the edge off. I have 10 weeks left and struggling Help!!

I’m also on here at 5am because of leg cramps and pgp 10 weeks left as well! The only thing that helps me is to stretch them and hope for the best

Why is the catheter honestly the worst part

I had an epidural with my first and it bugged the hell out of me and they were so slow getting it out !

they’ve said they’re aiming to take this one out at breakfast tomorrow. I’m maybe speaking too soon but I feel like I have such little pain or discomfort from the actual csection yet .. just the flipping catheter that I can’t wait to be gone

Also how am I meant to put this little angel down and try rest myself, I just don’t want to put him down he’s so perfect

I remember they said they would take mine out at 6am and then I'd need to pass a certain about or urine before I could leave. They didn't take it out until after 10am and all I could think about was how I then had to wait even longer to get home.

I didn't find it sore but found it annoying. Trying to get up our the bed to pick up baby and settle him while also carrying my catheter bag around was just annoying.

had my csection this morning at 36+1, as far as I know both me and baby are doing okay so far ! (so weird to not be pregnant anymore !!)

I had a bit of a meltdown and cry on the way to theatre because I was worried he would get taken away straight away to nicu but he’s not had to leave our side !

he’s had a couple of borderline results which they’ll keep checking on but this kid has been borderline for most the pregnancy so I’m never surprised

Honestly this thread has given me so much help and advice ! I think we all feel the same don't we and are just winging it really

Thank you for all of the replys guys, I think I'll get the next to me. Especially with the comments regarding convenience etc as I'm opting for a c section so think it will be the most beneficial

If you’re having a section you’d really struggle to lift baby in and out of a big cot because of where the bar would be, so I’d definitely get a next to me!

We got the graco next to me from smyths. £80, side goes up and down, it’s small enough to fit our room but big enough for her to grow. It was a godsend when we were up every 2 hours when she hit a sleep regression. I think smyths always seem to have deals on as well for the baby stuff

Yeah I've seen one in Smyth's as well that I will probably get Glad I asked as it definitely sounds like the best option

We bought a space saver cot which lasts up until 18 months and the mattress moves up and down so it's up just now for easy access. However he doesn't want to be put down and has hardly been in it so I'm glad it'll last us a while. He tends fo sleep in his pram in the living room or next to me at night but we can get him in his cot more soon .

For her room we bought the tutti Babini cot that goes into a toddler bed then a day bed, did the deal with the changing table. The changing table is used everyday…the cot is storage for her old clothes she doesn’t wear anymore I need to start transitioning her from contact naps to cot naps In the day but I cannot be bothered to ruin our good routine right now

Does everybody use these? Or are you just getting a cot? I can't decide...

I wasn’t going to buy one but my best friend had her baby a year ago she kept it and is going to give it to me so I will give it a go

Had my baby a week ago and feel like I’m not ready to leave this thread and move to the next one!

I’d say next to me is great if you have enough space to push it away when getting up, otherwise it can be quite difficult to get out of the bed because you have to climb down and that can be tricky esp in the beginning with stitches or after a section.

We have a Stokke mini crib at the end of the bed and so far she’s spent exactly 10min in there. 🫠

Where is everyone getting trusted advice on useful stuff to buy for your newborn (and beyond), or conversely what’s useless/pointless?

I don’t really have anyone around me in my life I’ll be able to ask and it’s still way too early for me to make any purchases but I’d like to start getting my head around what things even are and what sort of options there are. Seems like a minefield, haha!

might not be everyone’s cup of tea but I watch tik toks of second time mums posting what they have bought this time around, or talking about what they had the first time which they barely used, provided it’s not a paid sponsorship of course!
