I've been struggling with a really bad cold and the cough is just becoming too much. I'm so confused with what cold/cough medication is actually ok for me to take, Google is just confusing me more!
I asked both the pharmacist and nurse and they said I couldn't take anything to be in the safe side so just had to struggle with honey and lemon tea and steaming which did nothing. It's 2025, they need to come up with pregnancy safe medicine for this!

Agree on this and then some paracetamol only if you need it
Vicks is ok too on your chest 🩷

I just had my 36 week midwife appointment and baby has jumped slightly from 50th centile to somewhere below 90th centile. They are sending me for a growth scan on Friday. Midwife did say that fundal measurements are notoriously inaccurate so not to stress. Has anyone got any positive stories of this happening? I’m hoping it’s an inaccurate reading because I really want to avoid induction if possible!
mine did the exact same thing at about 32 weeks - baby was fine when scanned was measuring on the 50th centile for weight but with very long legs 😬 next fundal measurement I didn’t feel as bloated and she had likely shifted position and was back to the 50th for the rest of my pregnancy and she was 7lb when born x

Thank you I have been having honey and lemon so far and have a saline nasal spray I've been using for weeks anyway! Good to know that the Vicks is ok as well!
It is really crazy for how common a cold is that they haven't come up with pregnancy safe medicine!

amazing! Thank you @Keera. I’m hoping the same happens to me! 🤞🏼

Is anyone on their second pregnancy and not having any of the symptoms you had in the first? I’m still so early (only 7 weeks) and I’m an older mum (the big 4 0…) so I think I’m just really nervous about it even more this time round.
so I’ve been pregnant 3 times, the first ended in MC sadly and they’ve all been very different symptom wise - even though both this one and my first one were boys they’ve still been completely different ! I was half convinced maybeeee we were having a girl because it was so different but wasn’t

so easy to compare but it means nothing ❤

Oh ginger tablets sound interesting! I find ginger a wee bit too fiery but I’m guessing in tablet form it’s less obvious?
I took ones by a brand called Viridan and they had no taste at all. They were capsules so I don’t know if that makes a difference.

The midwife told me “simple linctus” is ok but if you google it it’s conflicting. Anyway, it was pretty useless, I wished I hadn’t bothered.
There are also some nasal sprays that can be ok depending on your trimester. I found different midwives were more/less cautious.

The problem is the ethics behind testing medicines on pregnant women, unless they’re pretty much life saving they won’t. There’s lots of stuff that’s probably fine because of the mechanics of the drug but they just can’t say for sure so it’ll probably always be a case of having to suffer :(

First pregnancy, I’m 5 weeks and feel no different, other than a little mild cramping now and again. If anything I’ve got more energy than usual. Kinda expecting first trimester nausea / exhaustion to hit me soon

I’m 7 weeks and I have tender boobs. But I also have a cold so I have no idea what’s pregnancy and what’s fighting off the virus. It’s so strange

I am about to hit 7 weeks (had an early scan which re-dated me so I feel like I did week 6 twice 🤣🤣) and around 4-5 weeks I was SLEEPY. I didn’t last the day and would be tucked up in bed by 9pm. Now I can stay up later again but it’s just nausea that I have. So far, no actual throwing up. It’s tolerable it’s just a bit… tiresome, to feel like this on and off all blooming day. Oh and I have tender boobs too like my twin @LittleMissMuffet , but it’s not as bad as my PMS tender boobs get. I’d love some extra energy though, that would be amazing!

So exciting! I have my private early scan in 2 weeks, I think that’s what’s keeping me going it’s like I’m full of adrenaline because it’s all I think about 😄 I found out a week ago and it honestly feels like a month ago I’ve never experienced anything like it I’m on cloud 9 but at the same time I’m worrying about everything 🤣

I don’t really get pms boob symptoms I do get bad break outs on my chin and horrific cramp, my chin broken out 2 days before my period was due though which is why I thought I wasn’t pregnant at first 😅 I’m sure it’ll all catch up with me soon. So exciting hearing about your early scan I can’t wait for mine but all my close friends said the same they were earlier than they initially thought so I’m half expecting the same 😆

When I had my early scan they dated it as two days further along than I had worked out from my last period. Then on the 12 week scan they dated me another 4 days further along 😂 so lost a week somewhere! But fully expecting I'll probably end up giving birth closer to my initial expected due date!

Oh god yeah my skin is an absolute disaster at the moment and I read salicylic acid is a no no in pregnancy so I don’t even know what to do about it anymore!

to be fair I think it’s a disaster because pregnancy has done absolutely nothing to make my PCOS facial hair any better so I went all in aggressively with facial waxing and my skin has been really unhappy with me ever since. I would like to say ‘that’ll teach me’ but it won’t have done!

in terms of my scan, it was a teeny tiny smudge measuring at 3mm. It had a heartbeat though and was getting its groove on in there. I wish I’d been able to go when it was a bit bigger but I just had to know it was as ok as they can possibly predict it is at this early stage and make sure it was where it was meant to be and so I don’t regret going when I did. I did have to have a trans-vaginal scan either because it’s so tiny or because I’m quite overweight and it’s harder to see or both. The midwife/sonographer was absolutely fine about it though and to be honest I prefer TV scans because I don’t need to have a full bladder and I was petrified of wetting myself 🤣

Ops, I didn't knew salicylic acid was a no no. There's some products from effaclar line from la roche posay here https://www.15minutebeauty.com/pregnancy-la-roche-posay.html the gel cleanser is good.

And you had a TV scan because it's tiny.
I don’t even know where I read it though. Seemingly AHA are ok but BHAs aren’t? But I don’t even know if I believe that. I do have effaclar duo but I wasn’t sure what was actually in it so I’ve just been lolling about like a spotty oik!
