It’s crazy how much it varies! If I worked with my husband, I’d get 6 months full pay and 6 months half pay. As it is, I get 2 weeks full and 8 weeks half. I know it’s not the worst, but still not amazing!


If anyone else is a teacher, look at teachersSPL on Twitter - helps to stretch the pay out like you could in any other job by using annual leave, which obviously we couldn’t do normally.

I get 28 weeks full pay and 11 weeks half pay.
seems reading other comments on here that’s actually quite decent. I can’t believe so many companies still pay statutory

I quit my job to relocate so I get maternity allowance for 36 weeks
Partner gets 16 weeks full pay.
We are fortunate we can survive on one wage and savings until October when I’ll go back full time.
Already dreading sending baby off to nursery - my mum was a SAHM with all 3 of me and my siblings growing up until my youngest sister went off to school, I always dreamed of doing the same but in this day and age it’s just not doable for most is it

Not sure if anybody is from the North east in here but where do you all look for prams? Nowhere seems to stock them in store these days other than Smyths toy shop. I want to physically see and try them before purchasing online etc

Did anyone go to either Aldi, Lidl or Tescos baby and toddler events? I’ve not been able to go yet. Was thinking of going to Aldi tomorrow but not sure if I’ve left it too late really. The main thing I wanted to get was another Nuby rapidcool but maybe I should skip the hassle of trying to find one and just order off Amazon

Do you have a mamas and papas near you? They tend to have a lot of prams in. The one near me even had different terrain to try them on!

They didn’t have any rapid cools in Aldi when I went in today. You can put a tracker on Amazon with camelcamelcamel for when it drops to £20 again.
I got a couple of weaning bits and some baby grows but the sleeps sacks and change mats weren’t that great this time and the stick on the high chair toys not as good as they looked online, we’re beyond muslins now and have the potty and step etc from the older one (won’t red for a while) so there wasn’t as much for a bargain as I’d hoped.
Will probably check out Lidl tomorrow.

Not in the north east but we did a nursery appointment at John Lewis for travel systems and tried them out in the car to check space etc. we just had to check because we went for Cybex and it was difficult to find a store which carried it so just double check with the store if there are specific brands you want to try mamas and papas do the same appointment service too I think !

Second baby, felt quite a bit of movement of the past week or so. It’s slowed down a bit the last couple of days (I’m 17 weeks just). Rational side of me is saying baby is tiny and just in a place I can’t feel him. Irrational me is anxious as anything!!

I didn’t have consistent movement until 21 weeks and my placenta was at the back. From then she didn’t stop so when it was reduced I got checked. I know they don’t usually see you until 20+ but worth a try if you’re worried

I’ve got my midwife appointment tomorrow so I was definitely going to bring it up!

I only saw baby on Monday, we had a gender scan and having another boy!

I’m 16+6 and not felt anything yet. Second baby also

We ended up buying ours second hand on eBay and honestly it's like new. And it was £200 less than buying new so I would recommend seeing what is available online for less.

We went to John Lewis and picked one out, was prepared to buy it for £800+ but I looked to see if I could get it 2nd hand and coincidently a friend was advertising on FB for £100! I got new fabrics for £50 and it looked brand new. Thank God because I hated it in the end and got rid for a stroller as soon as poss!

Miscarriage trigger warning
- Missed miscarriage at 15 weeks. My week started with a light pink discharge, turned to brown over the course of a few days, was told nothing to worry about which I understand. This turned to red blood Friday afternoon.
- Second night in hospital. Can't sleep and waiting to pass my baby. Had the medication at roughly 2pm 11/01. Still not passed through.
Can anyone offer guidance ?

I'm 16 and 5 and I think I've felt something but then thought probably wind. Second also. Definitely nothing consistent daily.

In Wales at the 16w appt we hear heartbeat so heard it Tuesday. She said we may feel movements but nothing consistent until 20w.
I think it was 19w ish I felt movements with my first, can't remember properly.

Placenta at the back.

I wouldn't worry but if you go all week not feeling anything perhaps discuss with midwife?

I'm sorry to hear about your miscarriage. It's just horrible. If you're in hospital still you're in the best place & I'm sure they'll know what to do regarding medication etc.

Be kind to yourself & plenty of rest after. The hospital should give you leaflets of who you can contact for support after.
