How long before the due date are people planning on working until? I’ve got an office job, 5 min drive / 20 minute train / 5 min walk commute but option to WFH as well at some point. Not sure when to give as leaving date.

I get such crap maternity leave I'm probably going to have to work until I'm pushing. I actually don't know what a realistic cut off is.
I finish tomorrow for 2 weeks holiday and then my mat leave kicks in on my due date… i tried to push it as far as i could but have been struggling this week despite WFH been very uncomfortable at my desk and in my chair
1 week before due date, but 2 weeks of annual leave before that!
I’m a student nurse I was due to qualify this year but have to take an interruption of studies to have some maternity. My next/last placement is 12 weeks however my due date is about 3 weeks before it finishes. Uni have said I can try and see if can do 8 week, which will take me up to 38/39 weeks arghh! Hopefully it’s at a GP practice though so a bit more opportunity for sit downs and the support is in place. I just want to get as many hours in as possible so when I come back next year I’ve got less to do! Slightly dreading it all though.
Same for me - planning to go up to my due date.
With my first, I worked up to the Friday when he was then born on the Wednesday.
im a nurse and i have had many many pregnant student nurses to mentor - no matter where it is the charge nurse will do a risk assessment and adapt your working environment/hours as if you are a permanent member of staff.
Also got many friends who took as little as 6 weeks to as much as a year maternity leave from the course and they all managed through and qualified as planned! 🩷
Exactly same as me minus the induction. I have my debrief next month and I have talking therapy because my mental health has taken a beating since.
Great to hear all the replies, thank you. I was doubting myself as when I said two weeks to the HR lady at work she looked at me like “oh, you naïve little thing thinking you can work until then” so I thought everyone must be taking four weeks or something.
I’ve been signed off sick since nearly 20 weeks. Sounds nice but it’s killed my finances
pgp and previous pelvic damage plus a very physical job who were crap at making any reasonable adjustments meant I was hobbling about crying and going home early every day so I had to 
otherwise I would’ve said 37 weeks xI was lucky to work from home but I worked until 38 weeks. My advice would be to get things ready in the house as soon as you can. I left things like packing my bag and getting the cot until last minute and I was too pregnant and everything become such a big task. I also found my two weeks of mat leave before baby arrived so boring. I was sore and fed up waiting.
Also get crap maternity leave 
There also seems to be this narrative that you get a year mat leave. People almost act like they don't believe me when I say I only get 8 weeks full pay, then I go to half pay after that which means I have to go back as we can't afford for me to be on half pay (even with SMP on top). You only get a year if you have an extremely generous employer or you're well off enough to be able to afford the pay cut.
Obviously, everyone's circumstances are different. I would be buzzing with that leave.
I was a social work student on my last year during my last pregnancy on placement and university allowed a shorter placement as did my employer as long as I was bound for a pass which thankfully I was. Allowed me to do 70/100 days to finish in time for birth. Hopefully uni make adjustments.. good luck x
I realise I'm lucky compared to some for sure. Most people I know got 6 months full pay!
Most just get statutory. I benefitted from furlough the first time it being Covid but my friends company kept her on maternity which she was gutted about as either way she wasn’t working but got less from SMP.
Insurance company Aviva gives Dads a great package, a year full pay I think. It’d almost be worth changing employer to access the better package if only we could plan exactly when we could fall pregnant.
