Has anyone got gestational diabetes? I’m newly diagnosed and it feels like a minefield 🤣
I didnt when I had the glucose test but currently having to test my blood sugar levels for 5 days as baby once again has a lot of fluid round him. I'm 36 weeks 2 days. I wouldn't be surprised if I did as all three of my mums pregnancy's ended in late term gestational diabetes.

What a wild ride. Didn’t expect to be here again. Been on the pill for over a year and having regular periods. Felt sick the past week so took a test a few days ago and was positive. Booked a private scan for today and they say I’m around 20 weeks. I was expecting to be like 4 weeks. What the duck. Anyone else found out later on as a complete surprise? I have zero idea how I’m feeling right now just complete and utter shock and doesn’t feel real

Looking for some opinions/ experiences etc. Probably going to be very mixed...

I am due in April and the thought of giving birth sends shivers down my spine. I am thinking of having a caesarean.
What do you all think?
Before I was pregnant I was always so terrified at the thought. I did hypnobirthing and followed a lot of positive accounts on instagram and spoke to a lot of family and friends who had positive experiences. It made such a difference and I was really excited towards the end (and anxious!)
My birth didn’t go as planned but really glad I had a ‘natural’ birth just to experience it.
Do some research and you can request a section though! Personally I wasn’t keen on the recovery but I’ve still had a long recovery anyway 🤣

Oh no way! Congratulations, did you not have any symptoms at all?! X

Wow! I bet that was a shock. Is it your second?

Due February and have decided the same thing for myself. I’m nervous, both options are tit 😆 But it’s the unknown of a natural birth that frightens me. I would much rather know what is happening and when!

Thank you SO much! What is the Facebook page called please? I would really like to stay diet controlled!! Just going to take each day as it comes
It’s called Gestational Diabetes UK and the website is linked to it! It takes a bit of time to see what you can and can’t tolerate. Hopefully you can diet control but if you need medication please don’t worry!

Edit for spelling

I’m 28 weeks tomorrow and going for a scan this afternoon, I think it’s to check if the placenta has moved from low lying and possibly a growth scan?
I’m not sure 😅

I know baby has a 2 vessel cord and I’ve accidentally come across scary stories about babies with those recently 🥲
As well as seeing someone on TT having to deliver at 28 weeks
Tiktok is a horrible place and it doesn’t seem to matter how many key words and tags you block from showing up these things still make it through 😕

Hopefully everything is still good with baby but can’t help but feel nervous anyway 😭

for now focus on the positives! You get to see baby today - how exciting!

I’ve blocked so many words on tik tok but every second story is a negative one! It’s really difficult the closer I get to labour🫠

They were happy with his growth but placenta still hasn’t moved so they went through consent forms for a possible csection at 36 weeks, though we still have some time for things to change. Back at 34 weeks for another scan to see.

It’s not ideally want I’d like to happen but if it’s what’s needed to get baby here safe than that’s absolutely okay !

My other half will be annoyed as we’re still not allowed sex, not that I can be arsed anyway 🤣

I’m not on TT but my Instagram kept showing me triggering / sad things to do with pregnancy so I went on a rampage and actively liked loads of passive aggressive reels and posts about toxic MILs and cutting off family members and now that’s all my feed is (as well as newborn wake time activities). It helps me feel better knowing I’m not the only one with fools for family / in-laws. 🤣

I’m 30 weeks today and boy howdy are my hormones and emotions doing THE MOST the past few days. 😭 😢

My MIL went to touch my bump again yesterday luckily had a big fake fur coat on and chunky scarf to prevent her getting to the bump… i wish she would just take the bleeping hint and keep her pissing hands away cos its just honestly pushing me away again and makes me not want to be around her again because my boundaries arent being respected

I have a question for all the recent graduates from the thread and also the non first time mums here - this might be stupid but I was just thinking, when you got closer to due date did you wear a pad in anticipation of waters breaking? Or is that silly of me to even think 😂? Was it a trickle or like a pee or a gush like in a film?

I didn’t, but everyone who I spoke to said it’s a slow trickle, and sometimes your waters don’t actually go until really late - my friends only went when she was 10cm! Although I did sometimes wear a pad because a cough or sneeze was sometimes too much for my pelvic floor if I’d already been holding a wee for a while!

with my first I didn’t - but if you do and your waters leak I think those thick maternity pads are the only ones that would hold up well anyway !

I was 36+5, I was just laid in bed and got up for a wee, afterwards got back in bed and then was confused as to why it felt like I’d wet myself so I got up to change my clothes and realised I was still dripping away, got back on the toilet and realised it wasn’t stopping so called triage and 2 days later after an induction had my son. I’m not sure if my waters ever fully went properly? So I’m not sure if it could’ve been a lot more, for me it was just a leak like I was constantly peeing myself I guess.😂

I’d not used the right kind of pad on my way up to hospital either so by the time we got there my clothes were soaked 😬 I did thankfully have a bed mat on the car seat though!

Oh my waters did the full film explosion! No amount of pads was saving me 😂

I didn’t even realise waters had gone with my first! I went in with reduced movements at 40 weeks exactly and I asked the midwife to check and she was did a swab and they’d gone! X

Had my first panic/scare today which at 17 weeks to be honest is better than I thought I'd do!
Got jumped at to the stomach by a dog whilst out walking. Rationally I know it's probably fine but my partner is away all week and I just had a complete breakdown. I am so desperate to see the baby and know they are ok, it's so hard to wait to the 20 week scan.
Rang triage and they just said to come in for an anti-d injection as I'm rhesus negative, which I'm going in for now.
Finding the second trimester so much mentally harder than the first. Baby feels so real now and I just want to protect them :(

First time my forewater went in my sleep, only knew because I noticed a mark on my shorts. When they broke them for me they flooded but I was at the hospital.

Second time something woke me, a niggley feeling below. As I stood up to go to the bathroom they went movie style and didn’t stop trickling then literally pumping out coming with every contraction.
I had a waterproof mattress protector on the bed which we have anyway, put incontinence knickers on after they went to get to the hospital and sat on an inco pad in the car on the way, the inco knickers didn’t leak though.
I’d recommend a mattress protector anyway for later if you have to bring a poorly baby into bed and if you get pp sweats, inco knicks for post partum and inco pads make good disposable travel change mats so none of it’s wasted (not very eco but I’m not a fan of proper travel change mats in the early explosive days, easier just to bin if it gets soiled).

Top tip thinking of travel changing - when you use a public baby change room, get baby dressed and ready to go before you open the bin and put the nappy in. Those things can really pong and fill the room when you open them 🤢

Mine broke in bed in the middle of the night. I was awake. It felt like I’d wet myself but wasn’t enough to wet the bed. I got up and went to the loo and more came out, down my leg. Again was more like I’d peed a bit down my leg rather than a massive gush like in the movies. I put a pad in after that.
