Hi ladies who are further on than me (😂) when in your pregnancy did you do everything like build bassinets/prams, have hospital bag ready for etc?
I’m only 26 weeks but both my mum and my MIL got caught out by baby’s coming at 30 weeks and think I should start having it all sorted.
I have mostly all I need now but tbh - I’m kind of scared and nervous to set it all up as it’s making it feel real 😬
Obviously I hope she stays in there cooking for another 10+ weeks at least but now I’m scared I’m not prepared enough 😫

Does anyone know if I happen to go overdue with my baby, can I request a c-section instead of being induced?

I plan to ask my midwife at my next appointment as my preference would be to have a c-section date booked in if I’ve not gone into spontaneous labour. But I just want to know if anyone knows if that’s possible and when I’d be able to request it?

I hope that makes sense!

I could actually cry with the pain I’ve got from this carpal tunnel 😭😭😭😭 I feel like chopping my own arm off
I'm sorry - I've been suffering too. I had a week of waking up constantly with hands that had pins and needles so I got wrist supports. I thought that was bad. But now it's just pain in my thumbs and middle fingers, not got full grip, and it takes me hands a while each morning to not be stiff and sore.

I thought my constant sickness was bad but this has actually been worse.

Does anyone have any tips for insomnia? I am waking up between 3.30 and 4 most days, cannot get back to sleep - almost start drifting again at 6ish and then my alarm goes off at 6.20 for work.
I don’t know if there is anything I can do about this? I’m coming up to 28 weeks. If this is my life now, also thinking about whether I could ask for some adjustments at work… but not sure what would help!
Afraid I have no tips.. I’m in the same boat at 38 weeks!

Did anyone else feel a huge change when they hit 34 weeks?

I’m just over 34weeks and the pressure in my pelvis has intensified, I’m 100% sure baby’s head is now engaged, the pressure in my back, thighs…and the braxton hicks are now happening in the day rather than just in bed.
It’s quite annoying as I only have 5 shifts left at work, but right now I can barely see me getting through the next night shift 🤯

I felt absolutely fine until I got this point 😂
This scares me. I'm 29 weeks and suddenly feeling like I need to do everything now because we still haven't bought a pram or cot or car seat etc. I want to meal prep, and sort all the baby's clothes so I need to get moving soon.

I'm in my last week of work before maternity leave starts! Can't believe I've made it this far!

I'm a bit confused on wipes vs cotton wool and water for nappy changes. Is it ok to use water wipes from the beginning? Also will I need nappy cream from the beginning? NHS says to avoid anything on baby's skin for the first few weeks but my friends have been using wipes and cream.
Out of interest, how many weeks are you? I am going to try and work right up to the end or last few weeks but I know this is probably wishful thinking 😂

Can anyone help with what happens at the first scan/app mainly with your blood test. I’m in Scotland (if this makes any difference) do you get your scan first and then do you go and see a nurse and get your bloods taken for the additional screening? Not sure how long to tell my work I’ll be away for as they don’t know yet. Thank you!

I’m not sure if it’s just me freaking out or if it’s common.. I’m booked in for induction tomorrow. I wanted a nice relaxing maternity leave but my partner didn’t really help with the prep and left a lot to do until the very last minute and now I’m feeling the pressure of trying to get everything done this weekend as well as being heavily pregnant and all the pains and discomforts of that. I’m a fucking mess. I want to reschedule the induction for a few dsys time just so I have enough time to mentally prepare myself
I’m sure it’s totally normal and an overwhelming day ahead of you! Hope you have managed to relax a bit today. I’ve felt very overwhelmed trying to get everything ready for baby and I think as long as you have somewhere for them to sleep, some clothes and nappies you’ll be ok. Try not to worry yourself and hopefully your partner can pick up lots of the slack?

Did anyone go on a babymoon or are any of you planning a babymoon? If so, where are you going (or where have you been?) and how far along will you be (or were you?)?

Baby is expected about 8 weeks before our wedding so Mr Rosey and I have canned our joint hen/stag do (which was honestly just going to be us two going out on the piss in Glasgow 🤣) and we’re wanting ideas on babymoons or things we can do before she arrives.

No way! 🤣 Right I feel better now haha. It's very annoying. Thanks for clarifying I am not being absolutely mental 🤣
Not at all! I was googling like mad but it just stopped. Half of me thought maybe it was the baby on a nerve because not long after I started to feel flutters.

I contacted my Gp at 6 weeks (when I found out!) and they referred me to the midwives and I heard back from them saying they would contact me to arrange a booking appt between 8-10 weeks, then I got a letter at 8 weeks for my 12wk scan, booking appt at 8+4. Xx
Okay thank you, I think I’ll hold off for a week or so then!

Wow that’s bad! It sounds like mine too, loads of stuff they forgot to book in or didn’t come back to me about. If I have any concerns or questions I literally just ring triage at the local hospital and they check me out there now. It’s further to travel but I do feel like they’re most consistent and thorough there
I'm really lucky that I've been okay so far and not needed any additional checks but if i didn't have a private gender scan at 17 weeks and confirmed an anterior placenta which is why I'd not felt any movement at all - id probably have been really worried!

I felt a lot better asking the other midwife all my questions and have made sure all my appointments are sorted so I should be off the hook now 😂

I was on a shared ward after my section but my hospital allowed partners to stay overnight. (No beds or anything but they weren’t kicked out).
I honestly wouldn’t have coped if he wasn’t there, I couldn’t move until after my catheter was removed at about 11pm and then after that I was incredibly weak and unsteady due to losing a fair amount of blood.
Any time I called for a midwife for pain relief etc it took between 10-30mins for them to come and then half the time I was told no one available to help right now.
If our hospital allowed it I would have paid anything for a private room!

We had a scan at 16 weeks and the sonographer said he was 100% sure of the sex. Had our 20 week nhs scan last week and the sonographer said she thinks she knows what the gender is. Put the emoji on to cover what they think gender is lol

Any thoughts?

Has anyone done the sneak peak test at 6 weeks? Tempted to order it and do it in 2 weeks, I’m just so impatient 🥲 but I also want to ride the wave and just enjoy the pregnancy and all the wondering haha

I'm finishing early December (will be 36+1 on my last day) and using 7 AL days and then starting my maternity leave at 38 weeks if all goes well. It falls just before Christmas so my BHs will just be added onto the end of my leave. I work in a office 2 or 3 days and at home the rest of the time but my boss has offered for me to do less travelling (the office is an hour from home) and more home days if I need it but I'm feeling okay at the moment with it!
