28 weeks but I don’t feel the baby kick much. I read online that you should feel your baby move more or less every hour but I only feel her move mornings and evenings. Is anyone else in the same boat? I have a posterior placenta
It’s still fairly early for you to be feeling things regularly, but I go by the rule of 5 kicks every 2 hours. However, they do say that it’s your pattern you should be aware of, so if you’re feeling morning and evening then that’s fine for you. Just check with your midwife at your next appt
---
I have my 31 week appointment today. My pelvic/back pain is getting to the point where I’m struggling to walk. Usually I can do easily 10k steps but just going round the shops is so sore and I was in tears on Saturday (probs hormones too)
I’m hoping midwife can provide me a letter I can give to work, I work from home 90% of the time but I’ve got a load of face to face meetings where I’m having to travel in, sit on uncomfortable chairs for hours and I’m honestly dreading it. Is this something she could do? I really want to get out of these meetings it’s hell 😩
Also can’t take any sick leave relating to pregnancy from October as it will trigger my maternity early
I would definitely speak to work (HR/health and safety), depends how nice they are 😖 but mine would definitely be accommodating about that, especially if you’re working from home effectively at the mo. At least ask and see what they can say? I am not sure if a midwife can provide a letter or recommendation but again worth asking 💕.

The clothes girls really are 😂😭

I feel like we don’t need to buy too much new this time with us having our second boy, but I’d like some bits that are only worn by the new baby. But going into my local a couple of days ago Tesco it’s like baby boys don’t even exist. They have this tiny neutral section that’s just awful.. and then so many beautiful girls bits!! They’ve shoved the baby boy clothes on the end of older boys clothes but there’s barely anything there and what is there is awful and ugly 😂
Yeah I agree, baby boys clothes are like none existent or just really boring. I don't want to dress a boy in a baby grow full of tractors! And the neutral stuff is very few and far between. Really life 2024 problems 🤣🤣

I am a first time mum so perhaps others can offer a first hand experience of this BUT I am a nurse and did deal with assessing and organising continence pads for the elderly. We had a younger patient who had issues with vaginal bleeding who wanted the tena continence pads provided by the NHS for this but tena explained they aren’t made for menstruation/bleeding and would not absorb to the same level or as quickly as a sanitary pad.
This could make you more uncomfortable and lead to infection etc etc.

bur perhaps any of the ladies who have actually tried it could advise better!
Yeah this is what I’ve heard too, that the actual pads are better. Maybe after a few weeks the disposable pants could be handy. I hope so as i accidentally bought 24 pairs in a Boots offer 😂

I'm in my last week of work before maternity leave starts! Can't believe I've made it this far!

I'm a bit confused on wipes vs cotton wool and water for nappy changes. Is it ok to use water wipes from the beginning? Also will I need nappy cream from the beginning? NHS says to avoid anything on baby's skin for the first few weeks but my friends have been using wipes and cream.

When do you know it’s time to see about going to hospital with sickness? I’m 7 weeks and I’ve been sick 5-10 times every day this week and I’m the last 36 hours or so I’ve not managed to keep anything down including water. My heart rate feels a little high and I’m definitely peeing less.
If you can’t keep water down for more than a day you should go in, it’s better to err on the side of caution here. I felt a bit daunted about going in but we had to go last week and they were super kind and lovely. We were seen within 10 mins of arriving.

Oh wow that’s so fast! Who takes you for your bloods? Do you go back out to the waiting room to be taken through or does someone come in and get you in the scanning room?
For me the assistant sonographer took me into the scanning room where the sonographer asked if I wanted the screening done so she knew to take the pics/measurements for it. Then after that I sat back in the waiting room for a midwife to take me for my bloods.

I saw a good video on tik tok the other day basically reminding pregnant women that just because something is offered doesn’t mean the medical professional would even accept it if they were pregnant themselves. They have to follow procedures/check boxes/cross the t’s, dot the i’s etc etc so they’d be negligent if they didn’t offer induction and something bad happened, but that’s not to say you should accept it or that they would if they were in your position!!

I have my covid vaccination booked for Saturday and both me and my partner were unwell all last week, he thinks it could’ve been covid but we’re not sure as didn’t test. I honestly didn’t feel as bad as he did, and I didn’t have many of the the possible symptoms so I’m not really sure if I even had it, and other than still sneezing (that I’ve done this whole pregnancy so far anyway) I feel fine now.

Does anyone know if I should be rebooking it? Seems silly as I’m fine now but my mum seems to think they won’t do it if you’ve been unwell recently ?
I suppose I should call and ask?

I do also love how on it my GP surgery has been with sending me text messages to book whooping cough, covid, rsv.. but for some reason they’ve all been wayyy ahead of schedule. Whooping cough I was barely pregnant when they wanted me to book it and Rsv isn’t done until 28 weeks but I have a text message link to book it that expires in 4 days time but I’m not even quite 20 weeks yet and there’s no appointments listed for 8 weeks time, so that’s unhelpful 🤣
I imagine I’ll have to call and ask them how I’m meant to book it? 😂
Most vaccinations are given (or can be given) as long as you don’t have a temperature.
I would normally give patients the choice if they want to go ahead or rebook. If you feel fine now after another almost week it should be okay to have if your comfortable ☺

My previous surgery was also the same the minute the “pregnant” code was added to my notes i was bombarded with information that wasn’t relevant at 8 weeks 😂 I would imagine (going on my experience working as a nurse in GP surgery) the appointments for 8 weeks time are not yet even uploaded to the system so will appear eventually. I got a second text when i was eligible to book for whooping cough and that was fine.
Now im in Scotland the midwife does all my vaccines in their clinic so im not even going to bother trying to get squeezed into the GP nurse clinic 😅

Looking for some reassurance from those who have had more than one pregnancy! I’m 7 weeks along with baby 2. First pregnancy was a relative breeze. I do remember some fatigue in my first trimester but no sickness whatsoever. This time I’m absolutely exhausted (I do have a 2 year old so I know it makes sense to be more tired) and I’m feeling sick all day long. Not actually vomiting- it’s not that bad. More like bad hangover all day.

Is it normal for 2 pregnancies to be so different? I’m spiralling thinking it means there’s more than one in there. I could cry even thinking about that possibility. Booked an early scan this Friday to try and ease my mind

Seen as I’m over 37 weeks now, I’ve started collecting colostrum. I only finished feeding my daughter a year ago, but I’ve managed to get 60ml just by hand expressing for 15 mins 😶 I don’t think I actually gave myself time for the milk to dry up judging by that 🤣

Hey all thank you all so much for your well wishes 🥰!

Baby Girl arrived at 14:42 and weighs 7lb7 and she’s perfect I can’t believe I made her (along with Mr10 of course lol)!

I’m doing okay but haven’t moved much but from the small bits I have I can tell it’s going to be a painful time ahead, going to the ward now and first night on my own as mum lol xx
Congratulations 🩷🩷

Some days I had symptoms and others I didn't. Midwife said it was perfectly normal. My mum didn't have any when she was pregnant with my sister.

Had my scan at EPU this morning. Everything is fine and where it should be. Bleeding was caused by a little blood sac that's still there so they've said to expect bleeding to continue for a while whilst it empties. I am having the worst farts and trapped wind at the moment and the strength it took not to fart on the table whilst she's wiggling the wand round and pressing on everything was insane.
So pleased to hear it's fine! x

So sorry if this has already been asked.. but does anyone have a 360 car seat? We’re after a car seat that swivels but they’re a lot more expensive than what I realised and I’m baffled by them 😂 if you have one, which one do you have and would you recommend it?

34 weeks today and baby is still breech I’ve got until 36 weeks for her to turn before we start talking about a C section, I know she could turn anytime multiple times but I’m quite scared of a C section.

Wondering if anyone had some advice to prepare just incase I do need one or had a good experience? Just to put my mind at ease a bit xx
No advice on a c section but my baby was transverse then breech from 28 weeks and I did loads of walking on uneven ground which I think helped them turn by the 36 week check. I tried to do one of the upside down exercises for about a minute and was nearly sick so didn’t bother again😂 Although, my midwife said as long as they weren’t footling breech there’s no reason why I couldn’t have still gone for a vaginal birth which I didn’t realise was possible!

I’m not much of a skincare/makeup person anyway so I had no clue there were ingredients you had to look out for - one of the many things no one straight up tells you

Under my eyes have been so dark and patchy and I thought I’d found something to try to help reduce it but realise that actually maybe it’s not recommended in pregnancy because of a couple of its ingredients. I’ve always had fairly dark under eyes anyway but it seems so much worse this pregnancy

Does anyone have pregnancy any safe recommendations that might actually work? Some days I look like someone has punched me in the face 😩

Hi, I combi feed. I use the rapid cool (I have two) for formula.
Don’t use a white noise machine, got gifted a teddy but use Alexa. Doesn’t seem to make much difference !
Steriliser I use the Milton cold water one - they used that in hospital and I find it so easy to put stuff in and out - especially pumps.
I got a groegg2 from Facebook marketplace for £10, we have it downstairs atm but will move it in to babies room once she’s in it.
Breast pump - I wouldn’t spend loads on one until you know that you’re able to and want to. I was able to use the hospitals which helped as I only express and don’t nurse. I got some off Amazon but I do like the momcozys12 pro - Id recommend a double and then potentially more than one set if you pump a lot. I got mine off of vinted - they have some new with tags if you don’t want second hand ☺

hi, I had to have a c section because baby was breech. I tried the ECV but wasn’t successful to c section was realistically the only option (advised not to do it vaginally as first baby). They will scan you when you have your c section so if baby does turn you can still opt to not have a c section!

I did look at the exercises on spinning babies but they terrified me!

Some tips I’d have:
Make a playlist - I was able to have what I wanted on for the birth, may help relax you
Try not to do too much too soon after - it’s a fine balance of doing a bit at a time and overdoing it. The first day or so for me felt like I’d take forever then the next day I felt so much better
Loose comfy clothing, high waisted pants (Asda over the bump) - try not to have anything over your scar
Thank you so much, that’s really helpful! 🩷

I've got 2 weeks left now but I'm only part time so it's only 5 days. I'm just trying to finish my handover notes and wait for the other days to pass by. I'm so lucky I work from home so it makes things a lot easier.
