Thank you this was a helpful read! As a midwife can you recommend any ways to naturally encourage labour?
Oxytocin 😆 Try hand expressing/nipple stimulation, sex or even just watching a really good film, using a gym ball to help lower baby into the pelvis. And listen to your body, if it is telling you to rest don’t feel guilty for not being active as you will need your energy for labour.
Unfortunately none are guaranteed, but encouraging that oxytocin production is a good start ☺

Went for a private nipt test today to hopefully rule out any possible problems 🤞hopefully the result comes back okay

Also found out today that baby is a boy.
I’m not as sad as I thought I would be and I’m not sad that he is a boy it’s just the missing out on girly things that makes me sad - as I don’t think we’d have anymore children after this one.
That and being outnumbered by stinky boys forever 😭
oh I totally get you, I’ve got 3 boys and a stepson and I’m a bit fed up of Minecraft, marvel and fighting rough play 😅 I wanna do girly things but I’m pretty convinced this is another boy 🤣

My gut feeling was right, I think sometimes you just know. I even had some dreams I was having a girl!
I knew I was pregnant that month and I had a gut feeling I was having a girl! It’s so weird, I do think your subconscious plays more of a part than we realise

Only 4 weeks 4 days but the nausea is starting to get to me. The thought of food has been making me feel queasy for a few days now.
Anyone got any good tips to cope with it?
Little and often. I don’t think I had a full meal for months. I lived off ginger biscuits, rich tea biscuits, dry cereal, ready salted Pringles and also ice lollies really helped me! ❤

is it okay to get BIAB done? Just wondering if the gel and the uv lamps are safe?

also I know I should limit my caffeine intake, so I’ve stopped all coffee and fizzy drinks, but is decaf alright? Or should I look for something with 0 caffeine like fruit teas?

sorry if these questions are so silly, I have no one else to ask and no midwife yet 🤣 my gp just referred me today!
I’ve had BIAB and I’ve also still had 1 coffee a day but if you can stick to decaf. I think the recommended limit is 200mg of caffeine so just be aware of other fizzy drinks if you are having coffee!

Can I ask - how did you decide you wanted to find out the sex? I feel like I do as I’m a planner / more logical (eg only have to think of one set of names) but my boyfriend wants to wait. Others have also said they wanted to wait until birth.
I like only having to decide one set of names (having my second boy, why are boy names so hard 😭) and this time round we (probably actually more me 😂) wanted to know if I could buy girly cute pink things or not 😂
But really you can buy any super girly/boy clothes once baby is here anyway

With my first I did have some gender disappointment when we found out at the scan but it’s something I got over fairly quickly, I think I preferred knowing before rather than potentially being disappointed and sad the second he was born?

Question I'm hoping you can help with so I know if I'm being unfair... how late in your pregnancy would you say is ok for partner/husband to go abroad?
He's been asked to a stag do when I'll be 34 weeks or more (not had 12 week scan yet and think they are going to move my due date sooner), it's to a European city for a few nights. Do you think this is too late?
I think it could be okay?

I wouldn’t let my partner go away that late personally but we also have a toddler already so for me it mostly just sounds tiring parenting alone 😂

Our little one had a big tum at the 20 week scan and I’m overweight so I had the GTT which turned out negative, so don’t worry too much. No idea how big she is now but I didn’t get sent for extra growth scans and currently my fundal measurements are showing her as average size. I’ll find out how big she is in 3 weeks!
My fundal measurements have been normal too, but they said today I also have quite a bit of fluid around baby too. Wish they wouldn’t tell me anything :ROFLMAO:

I’m 11+4 and have had the same thing on and off. It’s convinced me there is something wrong and the baby isn’t growing. Between worrying about that and the pregnancy insomnia I’m barely sleeping :-(

Have my scan next Tuesday and can’t wait.
Oh god, yes the insomnia. Was a great sleeper before. I fall asleep OK but am wide awake and wired from about 4am. Let us know how you get on!

Unfortunately the statistics have caught up with me. I had a 10 week scan this morning and the baby died at 8 weeks. I always knew that she had a miserable chance of survival, but I honestly thought I'd be one of the lucky ones. It wasn't to be.
I’m so sorry 💕 this happened to me around that time too. There is a miscarriage thread on here which really helped me.

I set my WhatsApp settings so that people couldn’t see if I was online/read their message and casually announced a blanket rule that I was taking a break away from my phone in the last few weeks whilst I rested and prepared for labour…. This actually only applied to my MIL but she thought it was for everyone so made the blow a little softer🤣
I also dropped into convo that people messaging only to see if I was in labour/if the baby was here were being ignored. Didn’t stop her sending the message but I ignored it anyway. I needed her to understand that my rules and boundaries applied to her as sometimes those close family members/friends hear what you’re saying but don’t think it applies to them!
Thanks - yeah I’m in the same boat, she definitely thinks she’s above and beyond almost my own parents as to when she “deserves” to see/hear. She’s also made weird comments that “friends keep asking for updates”.. it’s like I’m sure they do, but don’t hide behind them when really it’s just you gagging for info.

Thanks for the tips, I’m not that fussed about people messaging me cos I’ll just ignore them but I know she’ll be on my husband with WhatsApps and calls which he’ll be a sucker for especially if we are waiting around in hospital for hours/days. I’ll just have another chat with him this week about our agreed boundaries…

They’ve been on and off too but quite constant today, I do feel like it’s just a leaky bladder as I can barely move without my pelvic muscles feeling like they’re ripping apart.. I might give it a day and then go get checked on the weekend if it’s still happening quite so much. The midwife I called today said it doesn’t sound like waters and if it was waters I’d know (it would feel like a warm trickling..!)
I really hope it is obvious like your midwife said because I’m super paranoid I’m gunna miss it given all the other fun stuff pregnancy brings!
Totally with you on the pelvis front tho 😩

I'm 14 weeks with my first baby and dying to know if it's a girl or boy. What's people's options on early gender scans ?
We found out all ours via NIPT. I’m on the fence about early gender scans. It’s harmless to ask but just be prepared that you may not get an answer/it may be incorrect.

Hi ladies,

I am 15w3d today. We had our dating scan at 13w6d and baby was perfect. Everything as normal.

Since then my energy has come back a lot and my nausea is much less frequent. I am occasionally getting crampy/stretchy feelings in my lower stomach and sides. Nothing painful just uncomfortable. I don't massively have a bump yet, it slightly appears sometimes and then other times it isn't visible.

I have myself completely wound up that something is wrong. I know I am probably being irrational but any reassurance would be gratefully received.

I know it's too early to feel movements so I don't even have that for reassurance. So annoying as I thought after the first trimester I would relax and enjoy this pregnancy!
I'm the same as you, 15w5d and sometimes I don't feel pregnant at all now, which is scary!
