I’m also 4 weeks! I just went on the maternity website of the hospital I want to give birth at and registered. The email said they will contact me in the next 2 weeks. Last time I think I got seen around 7/8 weeks for a booking in appointment where they did bloods, urine test and height/weight/smoking test etc. I know how you feel on not wanting to jump the gun but I think it’s good to be all registered etc in case something does go wrong.
They will generally see people from 7-8 weeks. Not to be too depressing but last time I was pregnant I registered immediately and then lost the baby at 8 weeks - but the midwife service weren’t told this by the early pregnancy unit so I had to tell them myself. I totally get the excitement to register but just to flag that sometimes our good old NHS can cause more harm than good! You’re pretty much guaranteed to have your first midwife appt between 8-10 weeks and then a scan at 12.

I am finding it really unreliable too! It’s next Wednesday, which isn’t too long to wait I suppose
I’d defo assume “no news is good news” as I do remember others on this thread saying they got a phone call 1/2 days after their screening if there was anything to worry about. My results hardly ever appeared - I only found out I passed the glucose test because at my appointment a week afterwards the midwife said, “so, great that you passed the GTT isn’t it” 😂

Looking for some reassurance from those who have had more than one pregnancy! I’m 7 weeks along with baby 2. First pregnancy was a relative breeze. I do remember some fatigue in my first trimester but no sickness whatsoever. This time I’m absolutely exhausted (I do have a 2 year old so I know it makes sense to be more tired) and I’m feeling sick all day long. Not actually vomiting- it’s not that bad. More like bad hangover all day.

Is it normal for 2 pregnancies to be so different? I’m spiralling thinking it means there’s more than one in there. I could cry even thinking about that possibility. Booked an early scan this Friday to try and ease my mind
I feel like i could have written this myself- except I have a 4 year old! I also have an early scan but mines Saturday ❤

Been thinking of you! Hope you’re home soon and it’s peaceful tonight.

Another rough HG day for me. I wish there was a way to test ketones at home so I know if I need to go to hospital or not. I don’t want to go and waste anyone’s time if I’m fine, but also feel pretty rubbish. I’ve definitely felt worse, but the other two times I’ve been hospitalised my ketones were ++++ and I don’t know if that was maybe a bit late to leave it or if they just wouldn’t have admitted me before then.
You can buy urine test strips on Amazon.
Ketones only or ones that test glucose and protein too which can be helpful further along.
£10/100 or something.

Yes - I’m not bothered about needles in the slightest and I wasn’t crying or anything (😂) but sorer than the whooping cough or any other vaccine I’ve had, I assume it’s because it’s a thicker solution 🥲
Me either but it feels like you can feel it go in as they do it. I wasn’t sore after though.

Hi ladies,

I am 15w3d today. We had our dating scan at 13w6d and baby was perfect. Everything as normal.

Since then my energy has come back a lot and my nausea is much less frequent. I am occasionally getting crampy/stretchy feelings in my lower stomach and sides. Nothing painful just uncomfortable. I don't massively have a bump yet, it slightly appears sometimes and then other times it isn't visible.

I have myself completely wound up that something is wrong. I know I am probably being irrational but any reassurance would be gratefully received.

I know it's too early to feel movements so I don't even have that for reassurance. So annoying as I thought after the first trimester I would relax and enjoy this pregnancy!

Does anyone have any tips for insomnia? I am waking up between 3.30 and 4 most days, cannot get back to sleep - almost start drifting again at 6ish and then my alarm goes off at 6.20 for work.
I don’t know if there is anything I can do about this? I’m coming up to 28 weeks. If this is my life now, also thinking about whether I could ask for some adjustments at work… but not sure what would help!

Doesnt everyone have the badger app or is that just in Scotland? I don't have any paper notes but everything is in the app and all my notes get updated and appointments get added to it. It's a bit slow and annoying to navigate but it's all on my phone which is easier.

Out of interest, how many weeks are you? I am going to try and work right up to the end or last few weeks but I know this is probably wishful thinking 😂
I will be 38+2 on my last day on Friday. I have a mentally demanding job but it's a desk job so not physically tiresome. It has been hard though, especially the last few weeks. I'm being stingy and want more time on the other side so have tried to last as long as possible.

Has anyone done the sneak peak test at 6 weeks? Tempted to order it and do it in 2 weeks, I’m just so impatient 🥲 but I also want to ride the wave and just enjoy the pregnancy and all the wondering haha
I did and it was accurate! I’m really glad we did it, we didn’t care on gender either way but it was so special finding out and broke the pregnancy up a bit

5 weeks tomorrow!

can someone reassure me that they’ve had no symptoms at this stage and still gone on to have a healthy pregnancy? I’d already been in hospital with severe vomiting at this point in my first pregnancy, and beyond gagging at the smell of nursery on Monday, I haven’t even had any nausea yet!
I had sore boobs, but that’s it. I was so worried because I felt so normal! But 25 weeks and all good

Thank you for all the love 🥹❤ I just don’t know what to do now haha! How do I get a midwife? Do I just call the midwifery department and tell them I’m pregnant? 🤣 Is it a catchment area thing, or can I pick which hospital? Is there anything else I need to do? 😂 I’ve already been taking folic acid for 8 months so I’m good on that front!

I’m nearly 35 weeks and still haven’t been told anything about the hospital or anything about my birth plan. My next midwife appointment is Tuesday so hopeful they’ll go over something then but it’s such a big unknown im slightly worried hha
At my 34 week appt they told me to go on the NHS website and have a look at the template birth plan - I would recommend that but there are also others online which are helpful. They also told me to look up my maternity hospital and read about the different wards as there is a maternity ward and labour ward which provide different services depending on what type of birth you want. So I would recommend researching that too for your own hospital.

It was then discussed at my 36 week appt. Definitely bring it up at your next appt!

Hope it goes well! My husband didn't see the point either but our images were amazing and since then he has been sending them to all his friends and family haha.
aww thank you! They haven’t changed his mind but they’re just so precious 🥺 baby played ball but kept her foot by her head most of the scan 🙈 the photos were so clear I can’t stop staring! They’ve told me baby is in breech at the moment though so fingers crossed she sorts herself out in the next 11 weeks 😂

When do you know it’s time to see about going to hospital with sickness? I’m 7 weeks and I’ve been sick 5-10 times every day this week and I’m the last 36 hours or so I’ve not managed to keep anything down including water. My heart rate feels a little high and I’m definitely peeing less.
I think i went to my EPU when i was like that ended up in there twice with my first pregnancy and was told i had hyperemesis, was prescribed by the hospital the good stuff - ondansetron!! This pregnancy has been a struggle ive been violently sick but not as bad as the first one and only been prescribed cyclizine, they wont give me ondansetron despite repeatedly asking for this in my doctors and my midwife putting it in my notes that i should be out on it.

I hope you get sorted, its a miserable time hyperemesis 😢

At what point do I contact the gp? Currently 4 weeks so still super early and I don’t want to jump the gun on things and jinx it!
It depends on how you do it in your area. In my council area in Scotland, we don't contact the GP at all. We fill in a form online for the council areas midwife NHS team and they contact us. I found out at 7 weeks and got a call at 8 weeks but they didn't see me for an online call until maybe week 10. I've never had any contact with my GP yet. But I don't know if that's specific to my area or not. To be honest, even my online call was just going through my details and I didn't really speak to anyone properly and get checked until my 12 week scan.
