I have been an emotional wreck the past few days 😢 I sadly lost my mum a few years ago before I even met my boyfriend so feels like I have a whole new life she knows nothing about! Anyway my brother came round last night with some clothes for the baby and he had bought a baby grow with our mums favourite animal on saying to me how he wishes she was here for me and I just broke down into tears 😢 Then on the train to work this morning I seen this on Insta and it just broke me again 💔
Sending you lots of love, wish I could give you a real hug, it must be so hard. Take the time to feel your feelings though, it’s ok to be sad, sometimes it’s good to have a good cry. She’s still with you and I bet she’s so proud xx

I’m so sorry. I’m sure she’s looking down at you and is so proud of you becoming a mum yourself. I can’t even begin to imagine how it must feel but look after yourself and don’t hesitate to reach out for support if you need it as I imagine it’s like uncovering a whole new layer of grief ❤ xx

Oh lovely I am so sorry. I wish I had the right words that could make you feel better. Sending you so much love - your mum will be looking over you and will be so proud of you. Your brother sounds like he’s really thoughtful, that was a nice gesture from him. Sending hugs ❤

I just wanted to say I totally understand. I'm in a similar position as my lovely dad passed away almost 2 years ago. Sending you love.

@Elle Woods Thinking of you too and sending you positive vibes.

Okay, this fills me with hope and is the kind of positivity I needed to start my Friday! 😂
My midwife said to me “your belly button won’t pop out” and I was confused, is there some kind of guarantee? I was 18 weeks at that point. I had a very deep one (lol) and it’s now just cute and normal sized 😅

My belly button didn’t pop but it deffo like, came up a little bit 🤣 Like the skin was level with the rest of my bump! It was weird but went down soon as baby was out and now it’s back to normal

I have a whole new life she knows nothing about!
She knows lovely, some how, some way, she knows 💞

I doubted I could have kids. My dad bought me a highchair because I'd 'need it one day'. He knew before I did. And though they never met, you wouldn't believe the personality and physical traits my LO has from him, they even sit like he did. It's like having glimpses of him back again. As hard as it is, it's wonderful too.

Awww thank you everyone for your lovely messages, making me emotional again 😢🤣 I’m normally quite strong about it all but with all these hormones I’m just a mess lately! Feel sorry for my poor boyfriend, he never knows what mood I’m gonna be in 🤣

In terms of formula I’m between kendamil and aptamil- I want one with the pre made bottles that’s easy to get. When I’ve looked at stuff online it’s hard to tell as obviously each baby is different so some prefer one over the other!

I dread the day my belly button goes out. It’s still firmly in, when did people’s go out ? Maybe mine won’t !
😂😂 my belly button just kinda goes flat, it didn’t stick out last time but just blended in with my belly. It’s getting to that stage now, it’s still a tiny bit in but is starting to go flat again. I’ve been wondering if it’ll stick out this time since I seem to be bigger this time round. Hopefully not!

Right ladies, help me out as a complete novice. I need to get sorted with my hospital bag. Maternity pads - what are we saying? Are there a specific type that’s best? Assuming I’m going to need loads! Disposable pants or just huge cotton ones?

I’ve lived not having a period for the last 8 months so I’m not looking forward to this 😂

I used black tena pants for immediately after (well, when they finally took out my catheter and let me put pants on!), they’re really soft and stretchy so didn’t irritate my wound. And I used the big thick Tesco maternity pads inside the pants - they’re the same ones the hospital were using. Again they’re really soft so didn’t irritate.
My bleeding wasn’t too bad after the first 3/4 days so I used less than I thought I’d need of those. I probably got through 2 packs of the pants and about 3 packs of the pads. Then I switched to giant pants and one of the thinner maternity pads. I was going to use sanitary towels but the maternity pads are softer, longer, less plasticy and don’t have the weird smell of sanitary towels so I figured they’d be kinder. From about day 10 until yesterday I was getting away with a tena liner (again, less plasticy and softer than a normal liner) but still in giant pants so they sit above my cut. My bleeding ramped up again yesterday so I used the tena pants and bigger pad again so don’t be fooled thinking it’s stopping when it starts to die down after a few days 🤣

I also had a puppy training pad and folded towel on the sofa incase of any leakage for the first couple days because it was like a tap if I moved 😳

Abena on Amazon. They're the length of your forearm and as wide as your head but nothing's getting through them and mega soft!
I used Aldi's tena knickers for a few days, then the abena pads, then soft, big sanitary towels with wings.
Personally I lost a lot in the first week then it tailed off quickly so only needed one pack of pants and big pads.
Breast feeding can make it come out quicker, at least in the first days, so maybe that's why but I think it's quite individual.
If you've got prime or a supermarket nearby, maybe get one or two packs then buy more if needed.

My boobs never leaked either and I'd bought tons of breast pads on internet advice.
Only thing I think it's worth stock piling a bit is size 1 nappies and wipes for baby. At least if you have to go down to size 0 they'll come into the size 1.

Agreed, my boobs haven’t leaked either. And same on the nappies - no point buying loads of size 0 unless you know you’re having a teeny tiny baby. We got 1 pack of size 0 and loads of size 1 and we’ve only used size 1.

Opposite for me, I’ve leaked loads 😂 I’m 2 weeks post partum and in the middle of the night last night both my boobs just were leaking like a tap. Also I bought size 1 in preparation but ended up having a teeny tiny prem baby 🥲 I thought I was proper prepared this time around but I definitely wasn’t, nothing prepared me for having the baby 4 weeks early and only being 5lbs!

On that I’d say to make sure you have a wide selection of sizes of clothes from a variety of places just incase! You can keep them in the packets incase you don’t end up using them but definitely make sure you’ve got variety. The smallest we had was up to 1m because we were expecting a chunk based on growth scans but I had to send people out to get newborn size for us and even that was big. Hes 16 days now and some newborn is still big on him. He’s also long and skinny so for example Tesco newborn doesn’t fit him anymore because the legs are shorter he ends up scrunched up in them, Sainsbury’s newborn is massive on him and next fit but are loose around the body.

@raspberryjuice @littlepup thank you both!! It’s so helpful having people to ask these things to. I’ll get ordering so that’s one less thing on my list. I didn’t even think about protecting what I’m sitting on, though I’ve already been worrying about my waters breaking on my new mattress so I’m getting sorted to keep that covered 😂

I put puppy pads under my mattress protector incase of waters breaking in the night 😂 I think it was @watermelon sugar who started wearing the maternity nappies incase hers went? 🤣 the last thing id want is to have to come home and sort the bed out as it’s dripping with amniotic fluid cus I know Mr R wouldn’t have had a clue 😂
