Has anyone got any tips for migraine? Since yesterday morning I’ve been laid up in bed with a headache and paracetamol isn’t helping. I was sick yesterday and now nauseous on and off (I know when pregnant that’s not unusual but I’ve not been nauseous at all for weeks now). I’ve called 111 just trying to find out if I can take ibuprofen as a one off to try and knock this headache out, now waiting for a call back from out of hours GP. Not helping that it’s so gross and hot today. Literally wiped me out all weekend
---
Edited to add I’ve now called the midwife advice line twice in this pregnancy, once today, and it’s been closed each time. I get that it’s Sunday but what’s the point of it

Try kool n soothe migraine strips. Hope you feel better soon

Nothing worse! I’ve given up on the paracetamol as it’s doing nothing for me.
make sure to drink loads of water, I’m sure you were but especially in this heat it can be easy to get dehydrated which really doesn’t help with migraines, etc.

Try sitting on the edge of the bath with your feet ankle deep in hot water (or a bucket/basin of any sort will also work), while having a cold compress on the back of your neck or on your head. I've tried that before and while it didn't get rid of the migraine, it did ease the pain a little. Also drinking full fat coke has helped ease migraine pain in the past for me. I really feel sorry for you, migraines are awful at any time but so much worse during pregnancy when there is very little you can take for them.

Yeah I’ve been feeling so sick I’ve definitely not been able to drink enough water (rotating between feeling ok enough to take tablets and water and then feeling sick again) so I’m guessing that’s the key. My husband went to get me some wotsits and full fat coke and it seems to be taking the edge off… probably won’t tell the GP that though.

Thanks my lovely ladies 🩷

Hope you’re feeling better soon! I’ve been using those 4head sticks when I have headaches (although I know a migraine is so much worse) and they’ve been a godsend for me! I’m sure you already are but make sure you’re staying hydrated too. It must be awful in this heat too, hope the doctors can help x

My hormones got the better of me today.

Mr10 pissed me off by not helping me and I’m in pain with my back and feet, my face is sore from dry skin, the weather plus being away from home and having to constantly socialise with his family while sharing a caravan with his parents has really taken it out of me!

I just couldn’t keep my mouth shut and told him off and he didn’t exactly help the situation by getting annoyed at me rather than seeing I’m struggling! We don’t really argue much so I was so annoyed he couldn’t see that it was me being over stimulated but we were kind of sorting it and now I find out he’s told his mum that I was upset with him so now everyone will know we’ve argued so that’s pissed me off again.

I really don’t have the energy to be upset with him and I just want to enjoy the last night of our holiday and I’m just so flat now and just want to stay in and cry

My second labour was definitely quicker! First time I was similar, about 6 hours active labour to delivery. This time I was 34 minutes from active labour to delivery. Thank god I was induced as I wouldn’t have made the hospital this time both of my sisters have had very fast second labours so it must run in my family

omg! Defo better to have a little bit more than to be doing washings all day, every day! I’ve got 21 newborn/first size sleepsuits just now so hopefully that gets me though!
we had loads or muslins and bibs because everyone kept buying us them and we were always told we needed plenty, but we never had a sicky baby so I barely used any! I think I used the same 5 on rotation each week and loads went to charity. Again, this time you just never know how different this baby might be so never know how much to buy!

@raspberryjuice this is proper random and not pregnancy related at all, but I bought a pack of those kool n soothes for labour and I didn’t use them. So I’ve had a bit of a headache the last few days, used 2 of the kool n soothes the first day and it kept sliding off my head and it was making me angry and I said to my fella ‘these are shit they just slide off my head!’ he was like ‘your head must be that massive it can’t handle the sheet’ just tried putting on another and it slid off so i was like ‘how the fuck do people bother with these?!’ read the directions and it says ‘take the strip off’ didn’t even realise there was a strip on it and that’s why they were sliding off my head So i’m happy now with a kool n soothe sheet on my forehead

Oh! I’m also a bit worried about this, my first labour was 3 hours and that was all fine and well. We went to the hospital and didn’t tell a soul until baby was born, wasn’t even sure I was actually in labour! Now this time I’m worried if I go into labour, I’ll need to wait on someone coming to watch my toddler or take him to someone. What if I don’t have time to wait on them?

wow! I love the strips, they’re amazing. They got me through my pregnancy. Glad it’s working for you now

Why do they do that?! Why do they tell their mum like it’s primary school!? Honest to god.
No way would I be pregnant, on holiday with other people, in this weather, in a caravan, so you’re miles bloody better than me! So sorry you’re feeling shitty and overwhelmed, they have no idea at all do they when you just want them to say “is there anything I can do help?” But instead they say something stupid and it just blows up xxx

I really don’t like the kool strips on my head but I’ve found they work a treat at cooling the back of my neck down!!

Officially 41 weeks!! Waiting for a phone call to have my waters broken but could
Be during night, been in hosp today and I’m already 2-3cm so balloon is out of question. Nervous but I guess it’s just uncomfortable rather than painful?!

Has anyone used or heard good things about the SNOO smart sleeper cot? It’s the one that moves and shushes the baby…

Oh stop don’t say that hahaha hospital is 20 mins drive from me. Will be sprinting out the door at every twinge now

I've read good reviews but also see it a lot on 'baby items I regret buying' lists.
Some babies don't like motion or swaddling, some will simply not be put down anywhere, some sleep through from a few days and sleep anywhere, some will get used to certain sleep cues then when you remove them (say when they get too big for the snoo) will struggle to sleep. It's a risky imo to purchase before you know. Unless you have vast financial resources, at over a grand for 6 months-ish, well, you can get a next 2 me and shusher and/or rockit for £200 then maybe look at it if you find baby is really unsettled, loves motion etc and you think it'll work for them based on what they like.

Mine slept through in a second hand next2me from about 6 weeks..... until the 4 month regression and they never slept through again for years not matter what but remember sleep isn't linear. Babies aren't supposed to sleep through. Momfluencers have a lot to answer for, especially the ones who share their 'tips to get my baby to sleep through' to make money from aff links but don't actually update when baby suddenly stops sleeping. Of course you do what you can to settle them but I personally believe it's 90% luck.
