Anyone else diagnosed with gestational diabetes? I’m really struggling with what to have and avoid, such a picky eater. I’m lucky because my bloods don’t seem to be too high each day but trying to eat as much as they recommend is too much. I’m off work the last month, have no routine at all and only having my dinner now so of course my bloods are going to be high in the hungry 🫣

I had GD and I feel for you, it’s so difficult. Do you have Facebook? If so, I recommend the GD UK page for recipe ideas and support in general.

Throat sweets if you plan on using gas and air too! My throat was awful 🤣

Lucozade sport if you’re having an epidural or c section- they allowed me to have that and water and honestly it probably gave me as much relief as the gas and air. Also stuff your faces before you get to the delivery suite- literally the best advice someone gave me, as I didn’t eat for 14 hours or so once I had gone to the suite but because I’m a greedy pig, I was like a hungry hungry hippo in the ward, and it paid off 😅

My husband and I had a massive chicken burger and chips from the hospital cafe the lunchtime before I had my ARM induction. I think I chirruped for days how good an idea that had been 😂😂

Omg chicken burger sounds fit, and filling 😂 I planned and packed the hospital snacks WEEKS before my due date. I started the car ride to the hospital with a bacon baguette, had a banana, god knows how many custard creams, bars of chocolate, followed by a sandwich, jacket potato, maltesers, and another banana. Then they may as well have put lucozade sport in an IV and hooked me up.

In the states, my friend wasn’t allowed to eat as soon as she was admitted, so she had two Big Macs on the way to the hospital 😂

Maybe controversial but I wouldn’t go out and buy a nightie again. I laboured pretty much naked, although ended with emergency c section. I put the nightie on a few hours later once I’d showered and found it to be more hassle. Trying to hold it all up whilst I used the toilet and wipe was difficult. Found it much easier once I changed into normal pjs.. had to pull down/up my nappy anyway so the pj trousers made no difference

Coming down with a cold. Sore throat, congestion. All I’ve taken is paracetamol. Is there any other remedies? Mainly for my throat. Not taken soothers (like the sweets) as unsure if these are ok?

Not controversial- I’ve bought very large men’s T-shirts from primark for labour (they get destroyed and binned anyway!!) and pjs for when I can get up and about from bed

Yeah the sweets are OK but don't over load yourself everything in moderation.
Old fashioned lemon and honey helps, if you can splash out for the local made stuff all the better 🙈
It's not easy being sick being prego I was miserable as I couldn't take my cocktail of medication to keep it at bay and I believe parcestomal is as useful as smarties

Agreed! I usually dose paracetamol and ibuprofen in 2 hour windows and Sudafed nasal spray or tablets when I’m congested. So just paracetamol is awful! Trying to drink lots of water plus hot drinks for comfort - decaf tea also rit but hot at least

We had a night of baby trying to punch through to the outside world. Feel like I’m going to birth the hulk 🙄
Sorry some of you aren’t well! Go slow and try and stay away from milk - it’s a real congester. As someone said, honey and lemon, and plenty of cosy food.

I was told the cold lozenges, like strepsils are a no because of the decongestant in them. But the ones that are just sugar and fruit juice should be ok.

I’d really like to book onto a local antenatal class, but the next convenient dates are in February when I will be between 32-36 weeks. Do you think this is too late? The sessions run on a Saturday morning which is easier for me than in an evening after work.

No it's not too late, we had a couple who in the last week were due in two weeks lol.

I'm 39+5 and still no sign of baby despite me trying everything to get things moving 😭 I really want to avoid an induction if I can help it so praying baby plays ball in the next few days 🤞

Not too late at all, I finished mine last week when I was 35 weeks and there were people a couple of weeks ahead of me too. First class baby has just been born as well!

We start our antenatal classes via Zoom next week in our Local NHS. I’ll be 30 weeks next week but tbh I wanted to do them closer to the time. Was surprised they feel early haha! And then I think I have (maybe) 10 weeks until this baby comes 😅

has anyone used vapour rub with a cold whilst pregnant?

Just had to remind myself how the wrap and carrier work 😆 I bought some of his stuff so long ago I can’t really remember how to use it. Hospital bag has had its (probably) last pack, as has the baby’s. Currently sat in his nursery look at all the things we’ve bought to prepare… so not prepared for a tiny loud ball of joy.
