Hi everyone, sorry to just jump in but wondering if anyone could offer some advice. Currently 17+5 preggo with my second. Having some cramping to my lower stomach and back with pelvic pressure - never had this with my first. Started last night about 8pm and thought it might subside after resting and drinking water but has continued overnight until now. Not sure if I should contact midwives or if they will just say it’s normal, but the fact it hasn’t gone is worrying me a bit. Kind of feels like early contractions almost. Have cervical erosion so my cervix was checked about two weeks ago and was not open or anything at that point. Any advice much appreciated!!!

My plan with our first was completely unmediated etc, absolutely against an epidural… I ended up having a planned c-section and it was a wonderful experience. Aimed for a VBAC with our second just to give it a shot, cue prodromal labour for two full weeks and I was very happy to hit my post-term planned c-section I had booked in. This time around I’ve just booked the c-section. 😂

You can plan all you like but at the end of the day, the main thing is a healthy baby and a healthy (mentally and physically) mum. ❤

It’s likely stretching and pelvic girdle pain. If it gets worse I’d recommend some strapping to wear to help alleviate the pressure on your pelvis.

Honestly, contact them. Not suggesting this because I have any medical knowledge/think it's worrisome, purely because they know best and have always been reassuring (to me) that there is no unreasonable question. At least they may be able to say its normal and don't worry! It can't hurt to call them.

I’m hoping for an unmedicated water birth, but I’ve also been told that I’ll be offered an induction if baby isn’t here by my due date (which I’ll accept). My plan once I finish work is to have some acupuncture and pregnancy massages to get the oxytocin flowing and hopefully put me into labour naturally 😂

Agree with you @kayefeluu20

I only want my Husband there and also no visitors in hospital. Maybe my mum dependent on time spent there.
I will read up on pain relief for my own knowledge. At the moment I’m considering a Tens Machine. I’ll pack my hospital bag and then go with the flow.
Tens machine is definitely worth a whirl I had mine on for about 20 hours before the epidural went in! I’ve also heard of some people using a comb for the same effect (squeezing it into their palm as a distraction)

i had an unmedicated water birth. I went into labour 39w. Obviously it may have been luck/a coincidence but Things i did from 37 weeks was using the ball, dates, lots of walking and cleary sage oil in the bath. It won’t hurt to try! 🤣

I'm booked in for an elective c-section after a traumatic birth with my first born. 7 weeks away now 😬
I’m exactly the same, having a c section in 7 weeks after an emergency section with my first. Have you had a date yet for your section? My midwife said I might not get mine until a week before, I think she was only half joking 🤣

Ive read the comb tip too! Plan to have one in my hospital bag!

Just found out I'm pregnant with my 3rd, I had q postpartum hemorrhage with my 2nd who is now 5, has anyone had a pph and gone on to have more babies? I'm terrified it will happen again or that I will die giving birth

I've been told it'd more than likely be the 20th or 24th October but my consultant and perinatal nurse are trying to get something more definitive. It is the norm to get your date a week before which I find ridiculous. The anxiety and stress it is causing me trying to sort childcare etc without even knowing a date is too much 😩

I used a tens machine, I should have put it on before I got in the car to go to the hospital (waters had broken), I put it on when I got to hospital and got good relief from it. Would recommend!

I'm literally not even going to create a birth plan beyond my husband being there and no visitors. I'm usually a complete prepper but this is so out of my hands and I know literally nothing about it so it's very much 🤷🏼‍♀️ I'd prefer not to have a c section bc of the restricted movements after but if it's necessary then it's necessary.

Low expectations = low chance of disappointment 🤪
This was my attitude but then I read a book about labour and I was very happy I did. It explained all options very clearly without any bias so I knew what to expect no matter what happened. I left it all up to the professionals after that, didn't have a birth plan.

yes this. I only ever got told horror stories but I ended up with an unmedicated water birth labour was an hour. Positives do happen daily too❤
I also had an unmedicated water birth.
Negative stories always outweigh positive ones unfortunately.🤣 (in birth stories as well as other kinds of stories!)
In my group of friends alone, I’m sure we’ve discussed friends’ traumatic births a hundred times more than the straight forward ones within the group 🙄

You know what annoys me which you may relate to🤣, when people start the conversation about births then they ask you about yours and they say something like ‘well you don’t get a medal’🤣 like your birth isn’t valid for the conversation anymore and you never asked for the medal 🤣

Ive got to say having had a traumatic birth I don’t really care to hear others lovely birth stories as I’m bitter and jealous ! It’s not cool but I can’t help it 😬

I think the reason for the PPH is important (like was it from the uterus failing to contract or was it from tearing for example) but the hospital would definitely be able to counsel you about risk. Every birth is different though :)

I'm actually not too sure they never really spoke to me about it, I think my placenta was huge and it had a little lobe on it 🤷‍♀️ but they never really explained why it happened.

i’m not sure if this would be a route you would want to go down but the hospital can offer a birth debrief. They basically answer all the questions about your previous birth such as why it happened. I know a girl who requested one and she said it really helped and she said she was never made to feel like a nuisance for requesting it.

Haha, yes that’s so true!
In a group conversation my friend said to me “oh well you had an easy birth, so you’re ok” It was like my birth didn’t count because there was no complications! And no birth is “easy” regardless of circumstances!
