I’ve put this in the advice thread but you guys may be able to help.

Have we got any HR professionals on this thread? I need some advice on when to tell work I’m pregnant.

I’m up for a promotion that’s been promised to me since February but no contracts or paperwork filed with HR yet (they’re so shit and slow). Im at 12 weeks, so I can technically tell them now, but also don’t have to. Should I wait until that promotion has been contractually agreed to tell them? Should I tell them before it’s agreed to force their hand a bit? Im guessing there may be issues with discrimination if they then don’t give it to me. I’m fed up of waiting for an answer to be honest.
Absolutely wait until the contract - you do not have to tell them until 15 weeks before your due date. And there would be discrimination issues if you chose to tell them about your pregnancy & then suddenly the promotion was no more - however unless there is something in writing, it wouldn't hold up. Chase about the contract, get it signed, then tell them would be my procedure.

Congratulations @Spencerskates ❤

I didn't sleep one wink last night 😭 I'd had my whooping cough vaccination so between my arm being dead, both nostrils being blocked all night, my head banging from the stuffiness and having to get up to pee every two hours I am absolutely dreading going to work today. Makes me also realise just how hard it is going to be with a newborn being up all night 🙈 I was hoping to get all my sleeping in during the next five months but my body is having other ideas 😂 the fact that my other half was snoring his head off next to me all night didn't help either 😂
I sleep much better now she’s on the outside of me than I did when she was inside - don’t know if that gives you some hope!

Is anyone else really struggling with eating? I'm 12 weeks tomorrow and the nausea/sickness has been tough for the last 6/7 weeks (not to the level of HG though). It's at the point now where I just don't want to eat, don't fancy anything, my food aversions are crazy and I'm feeling anxious about food.

I don't know what I'm looking for, just feeling sorry for myself 😅

I’ve just had to buy a pair of under bump mat jeans on Vinted. The bloat is ridiculous - I’m only 8ish weeks. Tell me I’m not alone.

hi i am 10+2 pregnant. i have had sickness. i throw up 2 times a day now, came down from about 5 so i’m pleased with that.

however the only thing i can do to stave of hunger is EAT. i’m starving all the time. i even have had to wake up in the night to eat. this has resulted in me gaining 6/7 pounds which i’m not sure is ok for how far along i am.

not just for vanity reasons. i want to be active once this sickness passes. can anyone share their first trimester weight gain in a similar situation where constantly hungry/then sick if don’t eat
Please don’t worry about weight gain at this point, 1st trimester is all about survival!! It will probably slow down when you feel better and become more active at 12 weeks or so 😊

Hi All, just checking in as I haven’t been on this thread in a while. I’m 18 weeks now and it’s flying by! This is my second and I feel massive compared to how I was at 18 weeks with my first - bit worried about how big this bump might get 🤣

Got the 20 week scan in 2 weeks and can’t wait to find out if they are 💖 or 💙

Hope everyone is good!

I think it’s just harder too because I have the two kids already and had to find money for half of everything for the baby, maternity wear, hospital bag etc all while managing having my own place. Baby wasn’t planned either as I had the coil in at the time, so was a Complete shock, but partner convinced me to carry on with pregnancy and he’d be around to support us!

it is so draining! I just can’t deal with how nasty he gets when you bring it up and the way his eyes just dilate and he starts calling me every name under the sun, it’s actually quite scary at times because he gets that mad about it I don’t know if he could control his anger if he couldn’t just run away to mummies.
It sounds like you have a support network in your family, and honestly it doesn’t seem like he’s bringing much to the table. The fact you’re not living together speaks volumes from a responsibility point of view and it sounds like he’s not going to change his ways. Carry on without him, love. Bring up that child as a single parent as you want and don’t consider him being there. It’s scary, I’m sure, but you cannot rely on someone who’s just not there. However, you do need to talk to him and tell him how it’s going to be. You don’t need the stress nearer the end of your pregnancy. Change the locks, get that baby’s room set up and enjoy the next few weeks without him being there.

Anybody else essentially doing this alone? I have never been so jealous of women with loving partners in my life.
Baby was definitely an oops (but now very much wanted!) and dad does want involvement and will support BUT i am living alone, and working full time.
feel like I am drowning in it most of the time, I'm so exhausted and emotional!
No, BUT you CAN do this! A friend went through it alone (well she split from the dad after baby was about 3 months) and tbh she just said she was doing it all anyway (her mum was her birthing partner). You will absolutely find your rhythm with baby and it’ll never be easy peasy but that’s not what parenting is, but you will surprise yourself. Do you have any support from parents or tight friends or family?

I honestly don’t know how people do this with other children. I’m only 7 weeks, I have awful nausea to the point of throwing out any food that I think of that makes me feel sick. I have vertigo. I feel like a bag of shit. I have a sore throat. My mum isn’t here anymore so I feel like there’s no one I can speak to about how I’m feeling 😢 my husband tries his best but I feel very alone and anxious that I’ll feel like this the whole pregnancy
This is why we’re all here to vent to each other and go through it all together!❤ please don’t feel alone

Wow congratulations! How did it all go at home??
It went well, luckily both my husband and I are doctors so we weren’t going in to it completely blind - although he hasn’t delivered a baby since he was training god knows how many years ago but I was more stressed about finding a baby sitter for our toddler so it worked out in the end!

Thanks everyone for your replies! I’ve tried speaking to him calmly about it loads and he still reacts the same, starts swearing, calling me names etc. still not heard off him, but he’s posting selfies of himself online, which if I do, I’m looking for male attention 🙄 but obviously has time for that and no time to check in on me and baby. I just feel like shit, I could give birth any day now and he’s just left me on my own managing everything.

i don’t think I can carry on like this or go back, I just feel so down and it should be a happy time with it being my last pregnancy and his first and it’s just not. I’m stressing about getting the house ready and everything else while he’s sat smoking it up at his mums.
Really sorry to hear that you've been having such a hard time with your partner. If I could give any advice on what you have said is to plan things without him, can you have a family member or friend as your birthing partner? It sounds like he has been a abusive towards you, you definitely don't deserve to be called names or sworn at when you are talking about your babys wellbeing.

After baby is here there is a charity called Homestart they are mostly around the UK and they offer practical support when you have a little one. They come and help tidy or hold baby, an extra pair of hands when you might need someone.

Don't get caught up in what he is involved with when owing money to whoever as you don't need that kind of stress with a newborn.

So hard when you have a plan and things change last minute when baby is coming soon!

I’m sure people will know this already, but if you make a baby wish list on Amazon, you can claim 15% off on eligible items and a free gift.

Section date booked for 29th, Mat leave brought forward to 22nd 🤞🏻

stupidly mentioned to my boss who has been a dick all of the way through that I’ve got a section booked and the first thing she said to me this morning was a sarcastic comment about being ‘too posh to push’ 🙃
What a cow! At least you'll be finished up soon and not have to deal with that nonsense

Hi everyone I’m new here! Found out last week I’m expecting and I’m over the moon 💕 still very early days as I’m only around the 5-6 week mark but just looking for any tips/tricks on safe weight loss during pregnancy? I’m 16 stone as is, have some bad eating habits although a lot of my weight was due to alcohol… I have a very active job as a nursing assistant, so I’m on my feet all day as is and starting to feel tired already as I’ve stopped coffee and energy drinks from the day I found out.. would be very greatful for some advice.. yes I’ve talked to my doctor but it’s nice to talk to other mamas and to be’s :)

Got my letter yesterday to confirm no high chance of Edwards etc, starting to feel very real now 😬 fellow early second trimester folks... have you started buying yet? All we've bought is a duckie bath robe from M&S 😂
Congrats, what a relief! I've bought 1 pack of sleepsuits from Next 😅 Part of me wants to buy more, and I know my family are desperate to buy bits, but my natural anxiety is stopping me. I'm thinking of asking my partner if he wants to go baby shopping on Saturday and hope that'll help with my stupid anxiety.
