I wasn’t saying it was you I was saying it about someone else who said you could drink water. That was my point- the “you can drink water” is duff advice because as I said, you couldn’t even brush your teeth. I wasn’t saying what you said was duff.

I was being facetious- this is an anonymous thread, everyone either takes all advice with a pinch of salt or no advice at all.

---

Sorry but why can someone call out someone else’s advice but not others? If someone says “in my experience” that’s not duff advice, but if someone outright says something that’s wrong, that’s duff.
Because everyone on here should know that everyone is speaking from experience.
I've had 3 tests done.
All of them, you could drink water.
That is my experience.
So yes. From my experience, you can drink water.
I have many friends that have had them done. Where you could drink water.
So that is what I answered.

The point of this was that someone claimed to be a midwife and if someone says.. I'm a midwife.. And gave advice, people will be a lot more trusting and a lot less likely to contact their own trust.

Thank you, I wish I took this advice even when we were TTC! Due to my age I have been stressing about never even having a faint line. Now I know I can get it I feel a wee bit more at ease!

The early scan sounds a great idea, I'm definitely going to look into it. I am going to need all the help I can get! My friends either have 10+ year olds or none, and no young children in our families either so I feel a bit lost! Once I let my OH know I know that I will feel instantly better, just need to wait till we're actually together for more than 1 hr!!
---

Thank you, I have ZERO clue about any of this. I feel like I'm 14 not 37 going on 38! I don't even know if I've fully processed this as we have been trying so long. Granted not as long as some TTC, but long for us!
In my experience, I agree with not googling. You'll always look for the answers you don't want.

Bleeding can be very normal and is very common and is even listed as a symptom on the NHS website for week 5 and 6.
I've had bleeding in all 4 of my pregnancies somewhere between weeks 4 and 8.
Had a scan with 2 of them and it was confirmed it was blood leftover from implantation as well as the fetus burying in deeper.
If it gets heavy/filling a pad/accompanied by quite bad pain, that's more the concern.

Cramping is very normal. Period cramps, sometimes worse.
All very normal and something 99% of people on here have had 😊

thank you for commenting, hope you’re okay. I was thinking that because I’ve tried to go down to one every other day the past few weeks and my anxiety has been awful and it’s really affecting me. So gone back up to one every day!! Know Id feel awful without them so I feel like that would definitely be worse for a baby. Congrats on the pregnancy!
Has anyone been on citalopram whilst pregnant? I’m trying to conceive but not ready to come off meds and a bit worried when reading online!
Not citalopram but I take fluoxetine. My GP told me to try to reduce it as it has a very small chance it could cause heart defects in baby so I reduced it basically until I came off of it. My midwife & obstetrician told me I didn’t need to do that as it’s perfectly safe to take in pregnancy. It’s confusing & conflicting to say the least! But I would say if I could go back I wouldn’t have stopped taking it as I’m struggling mentally now.

Blah. My sister has organised a baby shower for me and maybe I’m hormonal and over emotional but my family are moaning or saying they’re not coming because it’s not “local enough”. It’s 3 miles away, a 13 minute drive according to Google. My sister is organising and coming from over an hour away.
I’ve even offered those who don’t drive a lift home. Silence. So I sent a message yesterday evening that I get quite hurt that it was being treated as an inconvenience. What I really wanted to say in my moment of rage was if you cba coming to the baby shower don’t bother coming around when babies here, but I realise I was being extra and dramatic and refrained 😂. Nobody has even bothered to reply to the message.

I just feel like I’ve been the family member always running around visiting people, arranging get togethers and phoning everyone all the time and nobody can be arsed to make the 13 minute journey for this, it bloody hurts.
Sorry for the long post 🙃
What a bunch of twats, I've often travelled 2 hours for a baby shower for various family member or coworkers! It's just what you do.

That's what I love about this thread, there's always someone who has experienced the same or similar to you so you never feel like you're alone with your symptoms or how you're feeling ❤

29 weeks and my partner told me yesterday (was quite upset which is so unlike him!!) he feels quite anxious (not all the time just occasionally), hopes he’s not going to be a rubbish dad & feels unprepared/less confident compared to me.
I tried to reassure him it’s normal to feel that way, it’s a lot of unknown / pressure etc.
Family do sometimes comment when he holds other babies (lift their head, move them this way etc) so I think I’m going to tell them to stop it before baby is born (he’s never unsafe holding them) as I’d get pissed off if people did the same.

Has anyone else’s partner thought the same? Any ideas on how I can reassure him?
We have some online classes booked and have a hypnobirthing pack to do once we’ve moved house this weekend so hoping those will help!
Any other ideas please shout them out 🙏
My partner had never really been around babies until our eldest was born, he was always really nervous needing instructions, but once our eldest was born, he actually picked it up really quickly because it was "his"

It's a really hard comparison and hard to learn when the baby isn't yours, but something kicks in (in my opinion) when you're holding your own child to ensure what your doing is 100000% perfect for them.

I think most people on here have common sense to not take advice from strangers on a forum as gospel anyway, just as you would with advice from friends and family!

I feel like I need to give a disclaimer after all of the drama: not a medical professional, this is just my experience and your trust may advise differently.

I wasn’t on any form of antidepressants when I fell pregnant but do have extensive mental health history (a bingo full house with all of the conditions listed in the green book). My midwife said there are antidepressants which are considered safe during pregnancy. Obviously, there’s little research due to ethical issues, but her point was that it’s easier to wean a baby off of them if they do end up being born dependant on them (very rare) than it is to try and save a baby if the mother is struggling so much she takes her own life.

I was thinking about mentioning this at my next appointment because I am struggling at the moment.

Because I’ve worked in childcare there’s been quite a few names my partner has liked and I’m like no can’t, worked with one of those and they were a nightmare 😩😂.

I hope it all goes smoothly tomorrow and you can get some rest tonight 🙏 Had you noticed any leaking? Must be such a shock but you’re in the best hands ❤
yeah it’s been a bit scary at times but I strangely feel really calm now I know what the plan is! No, I should have mentioned that they checked to see whether my waters had broke and they hadn’t, it’s just my placenta had pretty much stopped working so there was really small amount left. Pretty scary to think what could have happened if I hadnt of had my scan today!

For any of you who have already had a baby, how close were your instincts on when they’d be born?
From day one, I’ve just had a feeling our baby will be early. I know it doesn’t follow a pattern, but both me and my partner were two-three weeks early, and baby has been measuring big so far.

I’m a bridesmaid at a wedding in the summer (baby should be about 2 months old by this point) but the hen party is in May. We don’t have an exact date yet other than ‘some time in May’ but that’ll make me 35-39 weeks pregnant. It’s a good couple of hours train ride away and while it’s a casual event, I’m a bit weary being that far away from home while super pregnant.
Im the same, have a wedding about six weeks after he’s due and my friend keeps asking me if I’ll be there. It’s three hours away, OH isn’t invited and no kids, so I’ve said probably not tbh as he’ll only be a month and a bit old, I plan on breastfeeding. I got a “can’t you just express?” Message back. Yeah in a perfect world I could, but you just dunno about supply, what if I have to get a section etc. also emotionally I just don’t feel like I’ll be ready ti be leaving him
A whole weekend! people who haven’t had or been around kids seem to think they just fly out and everything falls into place perfectly eh 😂.

Thanks everyone. First gel was inserted about a hour ago so it's just a waiting game now I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️
I only needed one gel for my induction on Sunday, was 4cm dilated twelve hours later and active labour was only three hours. Dreaded the experience but it was completely different to what I expected, fingers crossed everything runs smoothly for you

I had a dream last night I went into labour unpacked, my baby was 12lb, then wouldn’t latch or feed and my FILs cat kept trying to sit on the babies face. The baby also had the most flamboyantly ginger hair (I’m ginger but this was like clown orange) and I cried cos she was gonna get bullied. I feel like it was all my pregnancy/birth anxieties rolled into one 😂.

I packed my hospital bag today to try calm myself down since it was the only thing of the above I can control 😂. Can’t say it’s helped much lmao.

I haven’t been in, I think I’ve felt him slightly but I’m not 100% sure. I think he’s maybe laid a bit awkward so I can’t really feel him at the moment.
If you have any doubt go in. You don’t want to be the person who doesn’t and lives to regret it. I don’t say that to scare you, I say that because this is real life and it’s not a risk worth taking. They’d rather you went in 100 times and they be fine than miss the time it isn’t.

Is a small suitcase ott to use as a hospital bag? Like it’s smaller then a typical cabin suitcase.
I think that sounds sensible (y) They don't take up too much space and it's easy enough to find stuff in a suitcase when you need it x

---

Just thought - random hospital bag tip  I got some really big zip up freezer bags and used them to roll up things small so I had little packing cubes for stuff.. e.g. a change of clothes for me for straight after the birth once I'd had a shower, a little pod of newborn clothes and one of upto 10lbs because I wasn't sure how big they'd be etc. Meant that when I was ordering my husband about to get me stuff out of the bag he could just grab the correct packing cube instead of rummaging through and lobbing it all about on the floor!

I’m almost 17 weeks now and I’ve been wake most the night as I’m absolutely bunged up with a cold at the moment and find it hard to sleep at night but on the plus side I’m laying here all quiet and can feel very small twitches in my pelvis and I’m wondering if I am finally feeling baby moving about a bit 🥰
