I'm quite a placid person but I've just snapped at my OH. We've got our second NCT class tomorrow and it's about baby care etc. So they've asked us to send in anything specific on the whatsapp group that we want to know. We do not have a bath. We only have a shower and very little room for a baby bath to go. So I've asked about how you shower a baby/what you do if you don't have a bath.

He on the other hand, has decided to google "Bathroom refit services" and "how much space does a bath take".

We've paid £240 quid for this course, the lady can answer my bloody question and he can get on with the DIY jobs he needs to do like sorting out our outside office so our inside office can move and become the babies room!

Annnnnd breathe....

OMG slightly off topic but I asked a pregnancy-related question on mums net earlier (never really looked at the website before) WOW people are brutal on there! I can't believe anyone complains about Tattle lol. Do people just lurk there for the sole purpose of being nasty?! I'm so confused why anyone would dare to ask a question there anymore unless they are in the mood for an argument 😫
I don’t post at all, but mumsnet is one of those “guilty pleasure” reading with a cup of tea websites. They’re insane (mostly) on there - don’t take it to heart.

Another annoying question but I have time today 😂
Please can someone tell me how to have more of a backbone and not feel guilty not accepting hand me downs. A few people have offered me things that I don’t like, want or necessarily need but I always feel guilty saying no thank you. Even if the item is tatty and covered in stains or really used (I would never dream of offering someone a hand me down of something that probs needed to go in the bin anyway) I feel guilty and really struggle to say no. It really gets my back up for some reason, my moods have been crazy and it’s really irrational but especially when people I don’t even know have heard about my pregnancy through a friend of a friend and start messaging me asking if I want x y or z I feel really uncomfortable and I feel kind of angry with them. What is that all about ! I’m not a nasty person, I know people are being kind and trying to help but it makes me so pissed off.

Hello everyone! I'm currently 8 weeks pregnant 👋 I still feel like I'm still too early to join this thread! This will be baby number 2 for us!

I've got another scan tomorrow and scanxiety is getting the better of me again!

I've had spotting on an off since I had my positive test, but thankfully had an early scan at 6 weeks after a previous ectopic which confirmed it was in the right place and there was a heartbeat too!

I've had more spotting this week though and last time they couldn't work out any reason I would be bleeding.

Also anyone had any kind of jabby pains here and there at 8 week???

I only needed one gel for my induction on Sunday, was 4cm dilated twelve hours later and active labour was only three hours. Dreaded the experience but it was completely different to what I expected, fingers crossed everything runs smoothly for you
That actually makes me feel a bit more hopeful, thank you ❤ hopefully I have a similar type experience to you in that sense and congratulations on your new arrival! I'm quite anxious about the whole experience because I just don't know what to expect so any positive stories are hugely appreciated.

I feel like the general information they give and online makes out it’s because of your diet/bmi. I had an “overweight” bmi at booking so feel judged. Idk maybe it’s because my fatphobic mum was with me 😂. I also just don’t really understand as his head and abdominal circumference say 94th centile but his expected weight is average for this stage in pregnancy so I just feel a bit overwhelmed trying to make sense of it all.
If it helps, 3 out of 4 kids have big heads but they all had decent weights, and I very rarely ate healthy in any of the pregnancies. I was also ‘overweight’ with my BMI in my booking in with number 4 (they also take after their dad who has a big head)

Absolutely full of cold, pressure in my head and ears, chesty and struggling to catch my breath at times. Worried about flu/Covid as there’s so much around at my work and people refuse to stay off when they’re ill. Will do a Covid test later, but if that’s negative, what’s my next step? Do I need to contact my midwife?
In my experience, you don't need to tell your midwife anything.
Especially with a cold/flu.
Mine don't even want to know if you've got Covid unless it means you can't attend an appointment.

I've got similar at the minute. Did do a Covid test but it was negative.

Just lots of rest like you normally would when not pregnant.

I had a C-section because my baby was breech, aside from the expected nervousness around it being major surgery, it wasn't a "bad" experience at all. I'd say to definitely think about what's important to you, like you have done, and be confident in expressing this on the day. I had the same midwife with me from being admitted, through the C-section and in recovery too which really helped. If your partner is squeamish they can advise him when to look away I'm sure! Will you consider an ECV if baby is breech and doesn't turn naturally?
I think I’d rather a planned C section than an ECV, as I’ve read ECVs can be very uncomfortable and are 50/50 as to whether it’ll work! Plus I have to admit that having a scheduled time and date for the birth would be nice, especially when sorting childcare for my eldest! 😅

When did everyone start to struggle with sleep? I’m 24 weeks now and find I can sleep okay for the first few hours then I’m waking up a lot mainly to turn over but my belly feels heavy now so feel like a doze (if I can) after that rather than sleep ha the back ache doesn’t help either
Started around then…. Hip and leg cramps have started for me around 28 weeks and it’s now making it harder to sleep! 4/5 trips to loo a night doesn’t help much either!

Not me crying over the Uber driver speeding over speed bumps as I’m so paranoid about doing damage. I’m sure he’s well cushioned & safe in there but I am soooo sensitive today & suddenly so anxious about him 😭

For those of you with cats, just see what they do once you bring the baby home. Don't stress too much beforehand. My cat slept on my bump for 5 months, he must have got used to the baby then, he'd get in the Moses basket to warm it up then get out when I needed to put the baby in.
If I laid him down on the sofa next to me for a nap, cat would just like down on the arm near him, or curl up by his feet.
Cat never once went to lay on him at all. Funny thing is son is now 31 and always been a cat man, they love him, we joke about it to this day that all started before he was born. 😻
My cats havent been any different with me while I've been pregnant :( but tbh one of them is just always fussy and snuggly with everyone so its not really possible for him to be any different!
Was hoping my girl cat would be more interested in me but no difference with her! So odd as with my first pregnancy (early miscarriage) she was a completely different cat and would spend hours on my lap or near me until I was no longer pregnant.
She doesn't sleep in our room anyway so won't be any upset to her when baby is here but our boy cat sleeps at the end of the bed
him being a snuggler I just don't know how much I could trust him to be in the room with us and baby when we're all asleep :(

Feeling frustrated this evening. I had my 32 week growth scan today and they were really happy with how baby is growing, said everything is measuring as it should be and I’m on the 51st centile (last visit was 49th), measured fluid and all fine etc etc. this afternoon had a call with my diabetic midwife as I’ve got GD and she suggested starting insulin because my fasting numbers are still high. I’ve declined, I don’t want to go on insulin and I can’t see the issue if the baby is measuring as he should be and has made steady growth since my last visit? I just can’t see how this makes sense when they’re saying everything is looking good 😑
Can you weigh up the pros/cons of starting insulin? I’ve never had GD, however if a midwife told me I should be doing something to keep numbers down, I would do it? The numbers aren’t looking good, so it is making sense? Do GD babies have a sudden growth spurt in the last couple of weeks, so are trying to prevent this?
Again, I’ve never been in the situation before

Been off sick the last two days as I've had dizziness that started on Sunday and won't go away. I rang the doctor today and he thinks everything's fine but has asked me to come in this evening with a urine sample so he can check there's definitely nothing wrong. I'm wondering if the dizziness might actually be a sinus infection from where it's been cold and I've been sneezing a lot so I'm not overly worried, but it's still a bit stressful because I feel unwell and just want everything to be ok with the baby. I'm normally very calm and practical but it's easy to get carried away and worry that something bigger is happening. I'm just going to carry on resting and reading my book, and hopefully it'll be good news later 🙂

Decided to head to maternity assessment and baby’s heartbeat is fine and my wee was clear so none the wiser. Could be a tummy bug perhaps? Not had a wink of sleep all night and my 3yo will be ready to wake now…yay!

At my wits end, rant incoming. 40+2 weeks today and had a sweep earlier this week. Midwife was able to perform it and was 1-2cm dilated. Had a bit of a bloody show and then nothing else has happened.

Woke up and thought my waters were trickling yesterday but then dry the rest of the day. The midwives said just to keep an eye on it. I’d literally give anything for the contractions to start because feels like I’ve been pregnant for a million years.

To top it off our toddler has developed chicken pox and that’s complicated our childcare plans 🤦🏻‍♀️ thankfully me and my husband had it as children, but we’ve still managed to get a bad cough from him and we’ve barely slept a wink in days.

I’m just so ready for the baby to be here, I could cry.
I feel your pain but things can progress very quickly with your second. The fact you’re already dilated is really positive. I had a few signs the week leading up but nothing much, and then my labour this time took 2 hours from first pain to holding him. I had no early labour signs, I got to the hospital half an hour after the first pain and was 9cm. Fingers crossed for you!

I used the Birth Uprising digital pack and really benefited from it. There's a lot of bad press about hypnobirthing but I think taking what resonates with you and applying it sensibly and under healthcare advisement can be a really good thing.
I mainly want to do it with my OH as he’s very anxious about the whole process and I think it’ll really help him feel empowered about things. Personally I’m not 100% sold on all of it but figure another tool in the tool box won’t hurt!

So I’m really sorry for the TMI post, but I keep reading about and seeing people talking about constipation in pregnancy and I’ve been the complete opposite throughout 🫣 anyone else the same? It comes from nowhere and it’s like when I have to go I have to go RIGHT NOW
👋 yep! 😂 I’ve had a bit of constipation too but mostly the opposite problem. I can’t even think of a curry without dashing to the toilet 😭 I think it’s to do with progesterone? Or some other hormone? The same one that causes period poops 🤷‍♀️ I’ve found my stomach has become so much more sensitive, not that it was made of steel beforehand but I can’t even stomach nandos salt on my chips 😭

I’ve got my whooping cough vaccine today. I’m guessing most people on this thread have had it and it was ok with no concerns?
