Any words of wisdom for being induced?
It’s baby number 3 but I’ve never been induced before! Induction is tomorrow

Were you wearing a mask before the reading? Could cause a rebreathing effect so slightly higher CO readings. Mine was 3 at my last appointment and they were concerned at all - mines normally between 1 and 3.I had my carbon monoxide levels checked at an appointment yesterday and it was 4. She said this is usually associated with smokersgot me paranoid as I wasnt in any traffic or around smokers. My usual reading is 2. Anyone else had a higher reading?
Gosh, best of luck to you, get lots of rest, tomorrow you’ll be having cuddles with your baby! Sending you lots of love.Hi, I hope everyone is okay. Just thought I’d post on here in case anyone has this in the future or has had the same thing… We went to my 37 week scan today and was told baby had no fluid around them and the growth has slowed. The doctor advised induction or csection straight after this scan as this could be potentially dangerous. All documents signed and I’m having a C-section in the morning! I’m currently on the ward now after spending the whole day hooked on and off to the monitors and having obs done. My hospital bag wasn’t even packed and today was meant to be my last day of work so I didn’t even get 1 day of Maternity but hey ho, baby lemonade will be here tomorrow![]()
We have one name we like and I’m worried he will arrive and not suit it cause apparently I hate every name in existenceNow I actually have to name a child I haven’t seen a single name I likeeven names I always liked before I’ve gone off! Anyone else felt like this?
Omg yesIs anyone really struggling with wanting to get stuff done but not being able to?
I found the positive birth company quite crunchy and didn’t help me with my first when I needed an induction when I became high risk with high blood pressure. I got a free digital course from my trust called The Real Birth Programme this time which was really informative and practical. It had some good modules on positions, massage techniques and birthingaids that your partner can help with. It will help him feel useful as I think dads can feel quite powerless as a spectator.I mainly want to do it with my OH as he’s very anxious about the whole process and I think it’ll really help him feel empowered about things. Personally I’m not 100% sold on all of it but figure another tool in the tool box won’t hurt!
I sat in bed crying about it, mr Waka didn’t understand how painful it was! I was having rennies for breakfastThank you I’ve seen others saying about omeprazole! I may have to call tomorrow and see what they say. It’s doing my head in now![]()
Glad I could help. I’d defo book a one to one with your midwife and discuss what options are available to you before you have a consultant appt. My last consultant appt was very much here’s the guidelines here’s the risks let’s book you for induction at 40+6. But as I’d had my appt the day before with my midwife I felt able to push for what I wanted. I hope you are able to do the same and don’t feel guilty about high readings you are doing your best!Thank you for this, I’ve had a brief read of one of her articles and am making my way through a few more but one of them said something like ‘GD turns a happy pregnant woman into an anxious and stressed woman’ and this has really resonated with me, it’s affected my MH so much and if I eat something that gives me a high number I feel awful and selfish! It’s interesting to read what they’re saying about the research too, I do feel it’s really dated and how can everyone be given the same target numbers when they don’t know your history and take factors of your life into account before giving you these![]()
In my experience,I feel like the general information they give and online makes out it’s because of your diet/bmi. I had an “overweight” bmi at booking so feel judged. Idk maybe it’s because my fatphobic mum was with me. I also just don’t really understand as his head and abdominal circumference say 94th centile but his expected weight is average for this stage in pregnancy so I just feel a bit overwhelmed trying to make sense of it all.
YepHave any first time Mum’s (past or present) felt really really terrified towards late pregnancy? I’m in my third trimester now and I’m so petrified. Scared of birth, scared of having a little human to take care of! I don’t have any immediate friends or family with babies either so I just have absolutely no clue what I’m doing or how I’m going to cope.
Yeah exactly! 'Babies don't need much but here's my list of essentials worth thousands of pounds!'. I've been buying random bits and pieces when I see them (sterilising tablets, top to toe wash, nappies) and also started looking for second hand clothes. I figure if it turns out that we desperately need something then we can just go out and buy it and that's the worst case scenarioHey @Tom_Nook I recognise you from another thread I visit on here and I also have never posted here! - I have just been enjoying reading everyone else's thoughts and discussionsI have been feeling the same way through most of my pregnancy, it feels like the internet and people around you say you need everything and nothing all at the same time if that makes sense? It's hard to know where to start. I have been trying to add things slowly every week even if it is something small like a pack of nappies.
I got mine emailed to me by the midwife who did my telephone booking appointment - it came through as soon as I got off the phone. If you're not getting anywhere with your midwife could you try ringing the maternity team in general to see if someone there can help?Has anyone else had problems getting medical exemption certificate? I asked my midwife for once twice she said she’s sent it off but never received it but now getting chased by NHS business authority to provide one or face a fine. My midwife said she had sent it off again but wasn’t sure if anyone else has had this issue before
I’m doing not too bad now. The baby blues lasted about 3 days (around the time my milk was coming in, I think they say there is a link) and everything just seemed so overwhelming. Thankful for my close ones around me, don’t know what I would have done without them. My new challenge is getting used to being sleep deprived. It’s been a real shock to the system as a first time mum. I’ve been told it gets easier though so fingers crossed. I’m taking it one day at a time.Hey - how are you doing now? Are you still feeling low? You know it’s totally normal to feel that way but it’s also something to speak to your health team about because it can also be really well managed x
I have the same problem ! We’ve been trying on and off the last month of shutting them out but they just scratch and meow at the door and sound so sadI really need to get our cats used to not sleeping in our room/on our bed but the idea of booting them out makes me all teary eyed![]()
