I did, I was NHS I owed 1k but they allowed me to pay half back wrote the rest off. It's at the discretion of your HR if you pay it back or not. I explained to them why I wasn't going back I think it helped

Oh right thanks!! This is all too confusing for my little brain!!As long as they don't pay you any extra than basic maternity rate, you don't have to pay back anything, no matter where you are

My first came while I was on annual leave 2 weeks before maternity leave was due to start and my second came 4 days before but my work didn’t start paying me maternity leave until the agreed date and honoured my annual leave both times although I’m 99% sure that’s against policy. I think my manager just used their discretionIf you start maternity on your due date and baby comes late then your maternity leave doesn't change. Its just if baby comes before the start of mat leave that it has to adjust. I'd say the first option, you'll want time to relax and prepare before baby. I ended up bringing mine forward so I finished at 36wks because I was so fed up.. baby came at 38wks so it's a good job I did
I think I'm going to move to agency nursing or a private hospital purely for the money. I'm going back for three months, on the agreement with my partner that if I really hate it, I can hand in my notice after that period and look for something else if I want to.

Ignore her I know it’s easier said than done but she shouldn’t need it spelling out but every pregnancy is different and even if she doesn’t understand that she shouldn’t be saying it to you! Total idiotI’ve been off work for four weeks as the sickness and nausea is unbearable, but tried to go back today. Couldn’t cope and ended up coming home at lunch after being sick 3 times. My boss was a bit of a dick about it and basically said that everyone who’s pregnant has the same symptoms because the hormones are the same, but some people just deal with it better and obviously I’m not.
She also seemed to doubt how ill I am as she basically said it can’t be that bad because I’d be in hospital if it was.
I’ve had a rubbish few days with the anxiety after bleeding and with it taking us so long to get pregnant in the first place I am really worried all the time which also doesn’t help. I feel like she doesn’t understand because she fell pregnant easily and didn’t really suffer with her pregnancies.

If you're only getting stat pay you should be absolutely fine.I don’t think I’ll go back after mat leave. I don’t get paid very much and just work in a shop, won’t be able to afford childcare as it would probably be double my wages for the month. I don’t think I’d have to pay my mat pay back though? That’s a worry
Unfortunately in my role I can't move to agency as it's a specialist AHP post and even locuming is impossible - there's only one hospital trust within 35 minutes drive of our house. Sorry I'm behind but yes I have and will again. Mine was nearly 3 when my daughter was born. I had her in the sling loads during the day so I can play with the toddler. I brought the chair into the playroom so I can sit and feed and still be involved in 'playing'. We did lots of stickers and snacks and TV - basically whatever I could do on the sofa with the baby attached to me (I also had a c-section to recover from). It was definitely much easier when out and about on playgrounds etc as you just whip a boob out if baby fussesHas anyone here breastfed their baby when they already have a toddler running round? I never managed to breastfeed my first son as I simply didn’t have a clue what I was doing and he refused to latch on, but I’d like to try again this time round, as I think faffing with bottles might be a pain when I also have another child to look after. But then I don’t know if it will be difficult breastfeeding for long periods when the older one wants entertaining etc., whereas feeding a bottle always seemed relatively quick.

Got my flu jab today and feel a bit grim although I think I've caught my husband's cold.
