Did you have to pay back your mat leave? I'm dreading going back to the nhs for 3 months
I did, I was NHS I owed 1k but they allowed me to pay half back wrote the rest off. It's at the discretion of your HR if you pay it back or not. I explained to them why I wasn't going back I think it helped

That's half the reason I'm going back - I can't afford to lose the extra pay (I'd have to pay over £5k back!)

I'm going back for three months, on the agreement with my partner that if I really hate it, I can hand in my notice after that period and look for something else if I want to.

My first came while I was on annual leave 2 weeks before maternity leave was due to start and my second came 4 days before but my work didn’t start paying me maternity leave until the agreed date and honoured my annual leave both times although I’m 99% sure that’s against policy. I think my manager just used their discretion

I think I'm going to move to agency nursing or a private hospital purely for the money. I'm sick of having too much responsibility and not enough pay and I don't want to be checking my emails on my days off, I just want to make the most money I can with the least amount of stress!

Just come to have a whinge really… I’ve got either a very very very bad cold or I’ve got flu
30 weeks pregnant Not ideal

I’m sorry you’re feeling rubbish but your boss sounds like a total idiot. Ignore her I know it’s easier said than done but she shouldn’t need it spelling out but every pregnancy is different and even if she doesn’t understand that she shouldn’t be saying it to you! Total idiot

I don’t think I’ll go back after mat leave. I don’t get paid very much and just work in a shop, won’t be able to afford childcare as it would probably be double my wages for the month. I don’t think I’d have to pay my mat pay back though? That’s a worry

If you're only getting stat pay you should be absolutely fine.
Stat pay is from the government, so no obligation to pay the absolute pittance they pay, back to them

Unfortunately in my role I can't move to agency as it's a specialist AHP post and even locuming is impossible - there's only one hospital trust within 35 minutes drive of our house. TBH I just want out, it's all terrible atm and I can't wait to walk out that door in February and not look back for a good year!

Sorry I'm behind but yes I have and will again. Mine was nearly 3 when my daughter was born. I had her in the sling loads during the day so I can play with the toddler. I brought the chair into the playroom so I can sit and feed and still be involved in 'playing'. We did lots of stickers and snacks and TV - basically whatever I could do on the sofa with the baby attached to me (I also had a c-section to recover from). It was definitely much easier when out and about on playgrounds etc as you just whip a boob out if baby fusses They only really clusterfeed in the evenings by the time your toddler will be in bed anyway and it only lasts for a few weeks anyway.

Reminder for those still to get their flu jab- don’t do what I did and get it done in your left arm (the side you sleep!!!) my arm is so sore / dead and I’m dreading how I’m going to sleep tonight

Get it checked out if it continues to happen! Itchiness in pregnancy (inc feet) can be to do with a condition called ICP

The did mine at the same time as my whooping cough

Had the same issue last year when they did it at the same time as my Covid jab too
One in each arm!

Got my flu jab today and feel a bit grim although I think I've caught my husband's cold. With the COVID jab I felt ok until about 24 hours later so will see how I do tomorrow

I was feeling great until the weekend when my lower back started aching, hope it eases up, not sure I fancy another 3 months of this doesn't help that our sofa is old and knackered with no support!

No you don’t have to, if it’s statutory I’m guessing? Only because I also only get statutory and won’t be going back but haven’t told them yet obviously

Oh no the worst a double whammy! Booked for my covid one next week so going to set a reminder to have it done in my right

Thanks I actually just googled it after I wrote it on here and saw that it could be something quite serious so I will keep an eye on it, bloody pregnancy

I get 90% of my wages for 6 weeks I think so if I don’t take holiday
I’m getting 90% for the first six weeks or something? After that statutory. I haven’t told them either but I live in a tiny village and have to commute to the nearest city to get to work it would make no sense for me to leave my baby for 11 hours a day for shit money
