How can I be so exhausted at only 5 weeks? How the bloody hell am I going to cope with the rest of pregnancy and then having a child to look after

Honestly dreading work next week trying to manage not falling asleep at my desk.
I was the same. They SAY once the placenta forms it gets easier. I am 24 weeks and naps are still life. Growing babies is knackering work.

Everyone said that to me and I can confirm whilst I feel marginally better, I still need to nap daily I was promised so much energy but there I was ready to pass out from exhaustion in IKEA.

Just a warning to others that are feeling tired and needing to nap, I’ve never seen the second trimester glow and I still sleep in and nap everyday at 40+3. I’ve just been constantly tired throughout

Emm... Sorry tmi but anyone else had the odd random dull but shooting pain in their arsehole?

You should have a 16 week one as it’s when you get your MATB form to give to work. Most workplaces require official notification with this at some point and from what I remember with my last baby it can be quite time sensitive to make sure you’re eligible for maternity pay. I would definitely ring and check if you can go in earlier even just to get that.

Hey lovely! My girl is 3, we told her when I was around 8-9 weeks as we’d already had a private early scan and everything was looking good. She was really excited and I think it helped because I could explain to her that growing a baby was tough and that’s why mummy’s tired or feeling sick in the first trimester. I have other friends who have children though and they waited longer, so I think it’s totally up to you and your family dynamic!

Hey lovely, you sound exactly like me a few weeks ago! I’m 14 weeks, also have a 3 year old and also couldn’t hack the tiredness in the first trimester. Please remember that the first trimester is so tiring because you’re growing a baby AND a placenta! For me when I hit 13 weeks it was like a switch flipped and I’m literally back to my pre-pregnant self. Loads more energy, not feeling sick, less bloated and so on. You’re over halfway through what in my opinion is the worst trimester and you’re doing amazingly by prioritising what you need!

Morning! How do you decide about the hours you’re gonna do when you return to work?
As time is ticking on, I’ve been really thinking about what I will do, what I can afford, childcare etc … I’ll definitely be returning back to work after my maternity leave but deciding on the hours is tough! What I think will be best for me is 2 days in work, my mum babysitting 1 day, partners mum the other day but it’ll be a shock going from full time money to part time money!

PGP tips anyone? I'm doing physio excercises and sleeping with a pillow between my knees and ankles. I'm in absolute agony at the moment I've been suffering since 16 weeks but these last few days it's got much much worse. I've hardly slept... Currently laid in the bath.

It’s going to cost me £800 for 5 days 7-5

Yes it's called proctalgia fugax!

Thanks this gives me hope! Joked with my husband that this baby is sucking the life out of me whilst our daughter sucks the life out of him hopefully I'll feel marginally more human by December and can enjoy Christmas.

I had a really weird dream last night that I went to visit my cousin's wife in hospital and her baby (she's due any day now) and it was the hospital I had my first at and my cousin's wife had a wonderful birth and had been given a private room and then I was throwing up in the toilets crying having a panic attack because I had an awful birth and an awful time on the ward and I was saying I can't do this again! I'll be having a C-section this time but there's no control over whether I'll get a private room or not, more likely I'll be on the ward for monitoring and it was just AWFUL last time, really horrible after a traumatic birth. Got my booking in appointment on Tuesday so I might mention it, for my anxiety a private room would be better but they can't promise it. Wish there was a decent private maternity unit up here.

I just double checked as I was freaking out but it’s between 20-25 weeks you get it and you have to share it with your employer before 25 weeks

oooo I’m 23 weeks, my 25 week appointment with my midwife isn’t until 21st Nov so I’ll be over 25 weeks then, and I was told they’d give me my MATB1 in that appointment May have to ring up my midwife tomorrow about that if I need to share it with my employer before I’m 25 weeks

I just rang our community midwife hub and they posted it out to me.

Childcare costs are a disgrace and it’s all the big bosses raking it in.
When I have this baby I’ll probably be staying off until they go to school since our local nursery (where I used to work) will be about £1850 for 5 days per month once baby is a year old.
We’re better off me not working Times are really crazy- I do wonder when it will change? It’s not sustainable for anyone

Hi everyone I’m almost six weeks. Had two losses this year so feeling anxious but all good so far Feeling very sick but it comes and goes.

Does anybody else feel down..but not to do with pregnancy as such? I’m a nervous wreck due to my previous losses (I do also have a toddler) and constantly googling every symptom and checking when I wipe which is exhausting. We sold our house last year and not found anything since so living at parents. Worried we won’t find anything by the time baby arrives so I’m stressed, especially with the cost of living! And lastly, sounds utterly silly, but we got a dog at the start of the year and (sorry dog lovers) he is my biggest regret. Turns out I’m not a dog person and I’m dreading when baby arrives with a toddler and a manic dog. I want to re home him but OH and toddler loves him so I’m stuck.

Sorry to rant but don’t have many people to tell, at least nobody who wouldn’t say I need to get a grip. Just feeling emotionally consumed x
