Really interesting reading about when people start showing. I’m excited to get a bump but have also been worrying about being very pregnant through the summer when it’s hot - I’m a “I haven’t got anything to wearrrrr” person anyway without adding a huge bump into it 😂 Hoping I’ll be able to get away with big floaty dresses!

Just popping on to say hi! I am so glad I found this thread, I’ve already learned loads reading through it. I’m 11+2 according to an early scan I had a few weeks ago. I’m going through pregnancy alone and will be raising my child alone. My husband had severe depression and killed himself in December and I found out 9 days after that I was pregnant with our first child. It’s been an absolutely heartbreaking few months, at a time where I should be happy I’m grieving. I feel so guilty because I just don’t feel excited about the pregnancy, I feel so detached from it. I never thought I would be doing this alone. My 12 week scan is scheduled for what should have been our first wedding anniversary, I tried to get it changed as I don’t actually know how I’ll cope but I was told it wasn’t possible x
I’m so sorry to hear this: this happened to my best friend last year. She was 6 weeks when she found out she was pregnant. She too felt detached and wasn’t excited. Just allow yourself to feel however you feel, there are no rules to anything like this. I won’t comment anymore on how my friend is doing because your journey is your journey alone. But I will say this- there were times when I used to cry for my friend because I thought she would never be happy again- it’s been a hard year but every time we video call she has a huge smile on her face and her little boy is the happiest, most gorgeous little baby Iv seen and had brought a lot of joy and happiness into her life where she thought she would never find it again.
I’m sending you lots of love, strength and comfort.
Take your time with your emotions and allow them to come and go when they do.
I’m so so sorry for what you are going through xxxxx

@Chickenandgravy congratulations on your little girl!!

@Lulu Goss I have never once had a full bladder or even close to it at a 12 week scan, and I’ve never been asked to, and never had an issue.

@Babyyoda88 totally normal for symptoms to come and go. The sickness my have settled with something you ate/drank or could just be the pattern you may have, or maybe just today’s pattern. Definitely not something to worry yourself about.

Hey @Kitt did you manage to ring the EPU? And how do you feel today X
Hey yes called this morning after having more blood when I got up and some back pain. I explained that I’ve already lost one and now I’m having these symptoms so she booked me straight in for a scan but they couldn’t get me in until tomorrow. Just gotta wait til then to find out if everything’s ok. Fingers crossed.

I am absolutely sick of watching my other half get steaming every weekend 🙄 (not that I want a drink....was never a big drinker) but is it too much to ask to have ONE sober weekend and suffer with me 🙄

Can feel the rage building 😂

How long did people continue to take pregnancy tests when they got their BFP? 🙈. I’m nearly 6 weeks and I’ve taken another one today. The line is darker too which is a good sign. It gives comfort 🙈
Sometimes I still do the odd one, just because 🙊

I’m 29 weeks 🤣

Has anyone had any ‘advice’ or anecdotes from people which has made you realise how much parenting techniques/guidance has changed over the years?

I was talking to my mum about cots/cribs in our bedroom yesterday and mentioned the 6 month guidance for safe sleeping and my mum was like ‘oh we only had you in our room for one night, you made too much noise so we put you straight into your own room’ 😂 this was 31years ago though!

I was sick this morning and it caused me to have a nosebleed. Never had a nose bleed in my life and I fully freaked out. All good now though 👍🏻

Thanks everyone for all the support and kind words. Contacted midwife twice but nothing back, her phone is off so I’ve left a message. I’ve got a tiny bit of a sore tummy just now almost like the mildest of cramping. I’m wondering if I should take tomorrow off work to rest as well?

This is a lovely thread 😊

I’ve had my 12 week scan appointment through. It says that my husband cannot attend but I can FaceTime him. It says that he is allowed to attend the 20 week scan.

Is this pretty much the same for everyone?

Well after spotting yesterday morning and being worried sick. The baby has shown it’s ok this morning by giving me my first batch of actual morning sickness 🤢. Never thought vomiting would make me relieved. Welcome to week 6 of pregnancy indeed.

Ah @Kitt I am sorry for your loss that is terribly sad,but what a beautiful name you have chosen with such lovely meaning.

new to the thread, currently 8 weeks with baby number 3 (and second pandemic baby-oops!) I was feeling smug because I was sooooo nauseous with my two girls and then was reading online that pregnacare made some ladies really nauseous so I chose something else this time which seemed to be working, but nope, back to all day sickness only eased by constantly eating,ah!!!

sympathise with people who are dealing with partners drinking-we barely drink but I swear as soon as that test turns positive he starts taking notions for a beer or two at night and I’m sitting beside him half salivating half fuming!

I feel totally fed up too. Sorry I’m still hanging around in the pregnancy thread 😅 I feel like I’m stuck at home all day with 3 children. I don’t drive, so can get out for a walk with them but it’s an effort. I really hope my whole maternity leave isn’t spent home schooling. I can form a bubble with my mum but she’s 50 miles away so not easy.

I’ve seriously considered going back to work earlier than planned just so my older kids can go back to school cos they need the routine 😬🙈

Bit of a silly question but this is my first pregnancy so I’m not really sure what’s normal and what’s not. I’m 5 weeks pregnant and have had slightly achy boobs and felt a bit sick on a few evenings, but other than that no other symptoms. Should I be having more at this stage?

I’m so over paranoid that something is going to go wrong because we’ve wanted this SO much, I know it’s probably all fine but having not told anyone yet I don’t have anyone I can ask!
Symptoms don't mean anything 😊
My last pregnancy I had zero apart from sore boobs and this time I've had pretty much the same.
Think of it more as lucky 😜

This child is trying to exit my body through my stomach atm. My right side constantly has a bum or back pushing against it and doesn't stop pushing lol.

Hi ladies, im trying to stay calm and not fall down a google hole. Ive been feeling pretty normal for the last week or so (aside from a bit stressed and overwhelmed with stuff happening in life, not related to pregnancy). Im worrying as im not tired, nauseous or achy. Does anyone have any reassurance to offer? My first scan is at 10 weeks on 2nd march. I read on the nhs website that having no more symptoms could be an early sign of miscarriage.. On thr other hand, some women barely even know theyre pregnant as they feel normal and others have a pretty symptom free happy pregnancy..

Must. Not. Worry (but low-key will for the next 2.5 weeks) :(
Symptoms disappearing or not having them at all don't mean anything.
I've not had any symptoms in any of my pregnancies apart from sore boobs which came and went week to week.

I wish more people were told about this because it's something I see so many people panic about.
But strength of symptoms ect has no indication on the pregnancy

Mine is usually the same as this. The first appointment I had to pee there, and then she gave me a pot for next time and then does that at each appointment
Somehow I always feel like an idiot if they haven’t given me a pot and I have to do it there - no idea why I feel so stupid about it!

At my first appointment this time the 50+ yr old midwife said to me (30+) “have you a urine sample?” I said no and she said “do you think you could go pee pee for me now?” Like I was 2 🤣

I'm very early days with number 2 and have had also one previous loss before my daughter. This was our first cycle trying for 2 so pretty shocked and cautious right now!
