Yeah I’ve had it months too and I’m only just in the third trimester, I use Asdas own brand anti acids. Mine is ok during the day but is horrible at night and I wake up in the middle of night with it too

This is odd but I actually started with heartburn like I’ve never really had it before but it was making me have such bad acid like before I knew I was pregnant at Christmas time I kept getting it when I eat pastry or cheese or anything stodgey abs it would just give me heartburn x

I've had terrible heartburn too over the past couple of weeks! I'm 27 weeks now, Rennies weren't doing anything, so have been using Gaviscon and that seems to be working. Got Lidl heartburn tablets for when that runs out so will give those a try.

Ezcema, yes, that's also been a pain. Before pregnancy, I used hydrocortisone cream but read mixed advice and GP told me to stay off and try E45 cream, which has been useless. I had to use a tiny layer the other day because it unbearable. I have it on my scalp too and haven't been able to use Nizoral shampoo. 😬

I've had bad heartburn since around 22 weeks.
The only thing that helps is ice lollies!

Hey how is everyone today? I am addicted to McDonald’s hamburgers like plain only thing I want to eat! Anyone else got that one thing they love to eat x

Coke and fish and chips saved me last night because I left so nauseous. It was the worst it’s been. At the moment everything else is giving me heart burn.

I don't really have heartburn but getting some reflux, keep having these weird internal burp things going on. Then yesterday the burp happened as I happened to be bending over to pick something up and I basically threw up acid in my mouth 😳 had to run to the bathroom and managed to knock my leg against something in the process so safe to say I was in a very bad mood after that 😂

Oh Mcdonalds double cheeseburgers have been an absolute godsend during first trimester and part of 2nd trimester too. The perfect ratio of burger, cheese, bun and topping. No other burger will do!

Is anyone that's 28 weeks or more having issues with their work due to covid updates? I'm almost 29 weeks and still working in a large office (key worker for government organisation). The latest guidelines from govuk state that employers should consider redeploying staff who can't work from home and where adjustments to the working environment isn't possible, you should be suspended on paid leave.
I've been telling my work how anxious I am due to this and they keep telling me their guidelines haven't changed yet other employees are getting to work from home and I'm being fobbed off. I just feel like giving up with them about it because no one's listening to my concerns at all 😕 don't even know if it's worth going to my union and asking for advice. Just wondering if anyone's been In the same position and advise what you done!

I could have written this myself. I work as supply staff in primary schools for an agency. I’ll be 28 weeks on 27th February. I’m in wales and primary schools here go back on Monday 22nd feb. I’ve been emailing my employer since 6th January stating the guidelines you’ve mentioned above and they’ve not replied to 4 emails as of today. I’ve made 3 phone calls this week only to be fobbed off each time saying they aren’t sure as this hasn’t happened before so will get back to me. Nobody does! As a last resort this afternoon I’ve sent them another email with the link attached outlining all the government guidelines that have been updated at the beginning of the month. I’m so anxious as my pregnancy is already classed as high risk as I’m 43 and have high blood pressure so as far as government guidelines are concerned I have 3 risk factors that say I shouldn’t be in work and therefore suspended on full pay until they can start my maternity leave at 36 weeks. I hope we can get things sorted soon as it’s stressing me out so much, I bet is is for you too. My best friend is due 5 days before and her last day in work is next Thursday as she works in a care home so obviously can’t work from home so her employer is following the guidelines.

Awww I'm so sorry this is happening to you too!! It's honestly dreadful. I know this has never happened before but I feel like every employer/organisation should be following all the guidelines and keeping their staff safe. It's honestly making me loose faith in it all to be honest. I just feel like no one's health is being put as priority. I was the same with sending emails, I emailed my work on 5 January asking so I knew approaching to 28w and they said it's not changed. I've then sent them 3 emails this week outlining the guidelines, copied and pasted directly from the website along with the actual url links and they're still saying "the guidelines haven't changed" I'm like what?!?! My anxiety is so beyond and out of control right now but I'm even more worried going off sick at this stage because I know my maternity will end up brought forward but feel like I should totally fight it considering other people are getting to work from home/signed off. Totally unfair 😭

It’s a shambles isn’t it? I’m so scared of going back to work a week Monday. To be in a class with 30 children and multiple members of staff and supposedly there’s minimal risk from children. I beg to differ, my own 6 year old son tested positive for covid 2 days before New Year’s Eve despite showing no symptoms at all. He caught it from his dad who had a test without telling me after he developed a cough and had contact with my son on Christmas night. My ex had a test on Christmas Eve. It’s only by luck that me and my partner didn’t catch it. It broke my heart saying to my son I couldn’t kiss or hug him for 10 days because we were being so careful. At this present time here in Wales I can’t even go into a supermarket with my partner yet I’m expected to go into a class of 4 year olds and everything is fine? How does that work? I’m so afraid of me or my partner contracting the virus before I’m due in May. Imagine our partners couldn’t attend the birth as they were isolating? It would break me. All I want is to stay at home and stay as safe as possible. We really aren’t asking too much are we. I hope you get things sorted soon and can then just focus on having a happy and healthy pregnancy. If I get something sorted I’ll post back here. Good luck to you x

I totally understand!! It's so frightening and the fact anyone can get the virus and pass it on or being asymptomatic is terrifying! I'd be gutted if my partner couldn't attend the birth too, it'd break me! If I get any updates I'll let you know too! Take care and stay safe xx

Check your works maternity policy. They can’t make you start leave too early.

I went off sick for a few weeks with anxiety due to the stress I felt being in a public facing role.

I’m a long way off it but I’ve been informed by my work that I should go off at 28 weeks and my manager said ‘oh but we use screens etc so you’ll be fine! Mentioned this to my midwife at the booking appointment and she said if there are any issues closer to the time she’ll write me an email stating I have to go off. Might be worth seeing if your midwife might do the same?

Ill check when I'm next in, I know it says about if you go off 4 weeks either before your confirmed maternity start date or due date they'll start maternity early but I can't remember which one it is! Thank you!

That's so so good they're gonna do that for you! My partner called my midwife for me when I was at work and they said to follow HRs policy 😢 we don't have any protective screens and very hard to social distance at times/no clean ventilation at all. I'm gonna call the midwife myself and tell them how bad it is to see what they advice x

It may be that you have to start your leave a bit earlier than planned. But it’s not worth the stress if you’re feeling unsafe staying at work x

With regards to work after 28 weeks, I’ve become pretty familiar with the guidelines and law on this as it is being applied very variably to health care workers. I was fortunately very lucky to have understanding supervisors and employer and OH supported my wish to stop seeing patients once I was pregnant (just too anxious and didn’t feel comfortable seeing/touching any patients and lots of covid circulating between staff).
They have to be able to make adjustments to make your risk at work no higher than the risk you are being exposed to outside of work (e.g seeing and examining covid + patients is obviously a no no). If they can’t make your workplace safe (and can’t offer home working) then they should suspend you on maternity suspension. For most jobs that isn’t necessarily required as adjustments can be made and sometimes they have to be imaginative about this and you might have to lead them.
Ultimately government guidance for ALL pregnant women is to stringently socially distance and stay home if possible. The guidelines about working is a bit more woolly but at the end of the day this is basic health and safety law. If they keep fobbing you off you could request occupational health input. Or, if you get your GP to do a fit note for altered duties (e.g should work from home to enable stringent social distancing) then they MUST follow what your fit note says. Doesn’t matter about their guidelines or policy.
The Pregnant Then Screwed and Maternity Action websites are very useful resources

Booking a private early scan...yay or nay??

I would love to get an early private scan for reassurance reasons but I’ve read online not to put the foetus through this unless absolutely necessary.

I’ve never been pregnant before so never had a MC (touch every piece of wood in my home) and I’ve currently had no bleeding.

Would I just be best to wait for my NHS scan (not heard anything from a midwife yet in response to my referral form I completed online) or have people had them before and saw the benefit in them?

I want to know everything’s ok but again I read online people said it flagged up issues that weren’t really there because the foetus was so young.

I was really on the fence about it too but ended up having one at ~9 weeks. Really glad I did as the early days are quite long and lonely and it helped me to worry a bit less about something having already gone wrong.

I’m not sure that an ultrasound is invasive to a foetus but am sure someone else on here can correct me? I think it’s the Doppler scan which isn’t advised unless strictly necessary?
