Suggestions for cribs/bassinets/ moses baskets that aren't ugly?

Is it too much to ask for that the baby's bed looks nice in my room and not some ugly net contraption? 😂
I like the look of the tutti bambini cozee. Might not be your thing but I’ve definitely got my eye on it.

I have my 12 week scan on 19th Feb obviously have to go alone. Do you think I should book one privately so my partner can come with me as I want to share it with him however I have read on here about having too many scans is not a good idea? Have any of you had additional private ones so you could attend with your partners x
Have you checked you definitely have to be alone?
My letter said to attend alone but when I actually called and asked, partners were allowed at the 12 and 20 week scans 😊

Yeah it was crazy! Literally just a tiny little bean shape on the screen, can’t quite believe it’s in there. Massive relief to see it - I had all these irrational fears that there would be nothing in there and I’d imagined the whole thing 😂 Sorry you’re feeling rubbish 😞 was it the seedlip stuff you’ve got? It’s quite nice with tonic but not so much without!

Keep getting all these ads for them on insta! Guess they’re more for later pregnancy when you can’t lie on your front or back. I’m quite tempted - not sure my husband will be so keen on having one take up the entire bed 🤣
I got the Gordon’s one because I usually have all the flavoured ones yesterday I had a beer shandy alcohol free and actually tasted really nice. I am yet to try this gin with tonic but we shall see in a minute 👍 I’m so happy for you I hope I can go with my partner soon xx

I don’t know if this is asking too much information but what does an induction involve? I’m 30 weeks pregnant with my 4th, midwives want an induction because of babies size- on the 99th percentile & how my previous baby was over 10lbs. All my previous births have been spontaneous and rather quick with no complications, so induction is new to me.
I should add to mine too that they only did 1 pessary for me as my waters had been leaking for over 12 hours so didn't want to wait longer

I quite like the idea too I think. This pregnancy is pretty miraculous to have happened at all, lots of coincidental dates and things around it that seem ‘meant to be’. I know not everyone buys into that but it’s comforting to me.

Having said that, I wouldn’t go for it just for a date if it’s better for her to stay put obviously. Just want to be prepared in case I’m emotional.

Monday I’m booked for the ECV - I’m sure she hasn’t turned herself as yet. It may all be irrelevant if she doesn’t turn 😫
Is baby full on breech or just on the side? Mine was sideways and moved easily and stayed head down thank god. But they still class you as higher risk after having the ecv. My midwife was shocked when I said they’d offered it last week. There is a few other factors for why they did. But she didn’t think they were major enough to induce at 39 weeks.

I’m 30+4 now! First baby. To be honest haven’t had massively in depth discussions with any midwives yet but I’m doing hypnobirthing and NCT and reading lots of books, plus a lot of my friends have had babies recently so don’t feel like I’m missing too much. But not great for other women I’m sure
Argh no way! the discrepancies in care across the country are so odd. And yeah tbh with the internet and books and everything there’s so much info out there (almost too much haha). Glad you’re feeling ok about it though! How did you find NCT virtually? Is it worth it?

I wouldn’t ring the doctor yet, I’d see how the bleeding goes and Mabye try and test again in a few days, they probably won’t see you just now unless you were certain you were pregnant and then started bleeding x
I will do, thank you very much xx

Hi all!
I’ve never posted here before, I’m just looking for a little bit of advice.
I’m currently 5 weeks pregnant with my first baby.
I’m still on probation with my current job, and do not want to tell them just yet as I feel they may get rid of me because of it (honestly really wouldn’t put it past them, they’ll find a way 🙄 my manager is a real cow) My probation does end at the beginning of Feb so thinking of telling them early March.
I occasionally have to do some very heavy lifting and obviously can’t do so any more, but how do I get around not telling them but also avoiding the lifting?
I would say to maybe tell them you've injured your back. But then again, they can use that as a reason to get rid of you too if you're on probation 😬 so it might be difficult because we'll, on probation, they don't even need a reason. So you might be better off telling them the real reason

Question of the day: do you find boys or girls names easier?

We find boys names so easy and girls names impossible. It will be a serious struggle if these twins are two girls.
I find girls names easier but we still haven’t came up with anything for this baby, I’m really fussy and want a long name with 4 syllables because our last name is really short 😂

Had a sore head now for 4 days, nothing is shifting it 😭 please tell me this isn't going to last the whole time 😳

I was prone to migraines before I got pregnant but had them really well controlled and now this 😩 I'm literally taking the max dose of paracetamol and surely that cannot be a good thing!

Don't think I've stopped crying all morning 😂 needed a wee vent I'm sorry 🙈
Try 4head strips and the roll on. I had horrendous headaches at the start of my pregnancy 😌

What does everyone think of pregnancy pillows? Ever had one? What’s the point of them?
This is the first pregnancy I had one. I’m still using it now 😅

I also feel fine no sickness I am a worrier and I feel the same as you although no sickness or maybe the sickness feeling is just not what I expected could be why I don’t fancy eating anything 🤷🏽‍♀️ X

how far on are you? My sister in law
Sorry you are feeling so sick my friends ate these water crackers just to get something down. I kind of want to have sickness because I am worried I am just not normal because I feel fine other than my lack of appetite and then I only want to eat sweets and cereal. Xx

how far on are you? I know how you feel - it’s a relief when I feel ok and then I just panic that something is wrong. I hope my dating scan and blood screening will give me some comfort? I want to feel really happy being pregnant instead of worrying all of the time x

Funnily enough, just got a call from midwife and my booking appointment is next Thursday at 12 over the phone. In the meantime, she’s sending over some bloods paperwork and I have to go to the local community hospital for blood tests before my 12 week scan. It’s all feeling very real now!

She was proper nice, she was like ‘I hear you’re having twins!!’ Haha
Maybe they just don’t want to talk to me 🤨 Im Glad they did call you though I just think the area I live in must just be very disjointed. Do you know why it’s called a booking appointment is it like them booking you into things? God I sound stupid x

Yesterday? I was 7 weeks 2 days.
I had the letter today for the 12 week scan and it stated no partners or children can attend. Sorry I ask a lot just when I had my scan two weeks ago she was so vague like 5/6 that’s all she said so I have no idea about days just weeks so I recon we could be exactly the same I am 7 weeks this week apparently the same size as a blueberry x

Private. They rarely offer it on the NHS. Think it cost around £40 but would rather do that than not know about it
I’m undecided. Majority of babies and mums am with GBS are fine and not sure of consequences of unnecessary antibiotics of baby microbiome. Probably would err on the side of caution and get the test mind

I have a private scan at 4 today. It was meant to be reassurance for us (we booked it back in December) but obviously I ended up in the hospital last week and saw everything was going ok. It’s now more so my husband can see too and feel involved. Although he’s a miserable sod today so I hope he cheers up 🙄
He will cheer up my partner can be very moody too last night we bickered about what you put a baby in when they are newborns he doesn’t believe me you put them in Moses basket or snuzpod he said we will just get a cot I don’t fancy a massive cot in the bedroom he thinks I will just buy everything because I am a marketers dream 😆 he then proceeded to laugh at me men are strange creatures sometimes x

Have you checked you definitely have to be alone?

The midwife told me on the phone that I have to attend alone ☹

Had a minor meltdown earlier to my husband. Just realised I don’t have a clue what type of stroller we need or how many layers a newborn should wear or what type of thing baby should sleep in. Feel like I know nothing and don’t want to mess up. What’s the best way to learn this stuff?! There’s so many products out there how do you figure out what you actually need? Feeling a bit overwhelmed.
I would say google is your best option.
I didn't know a single thing when I had my first. I'd never changed a nappy, I'd never fed or burped a baby.

Type of pushchair is completely up to you as long as they're obviously from birth if you're going to be using it then.

As for layers, I think I read before that babies should be in 1 more layer than 1 🤔 I think.

Girls’ names are so easy for us. With our last (a girl) we had two we loved, picked my choice, and if this baby is a girl it will be the other (my husband’s) choice. But both equally loved really.

Boys’ names are insanely difficult. We have a son and he has the only boy name we really loved. I am convinced this is a boy so we are screwed.
