Just to play Devil’s advocate here I think it largely depends on where you’re from. I live in a rural village and the nearest city isn’t big. All my friends fall into that category, because even at university there weren’t many POC, and none at all in my class. If she’s not met many different types of people in Manchester I’m not convinced that’s what makes her weird. If she’s actively pushing those people away that’s weird. Going to a family wedding after two months is weird. Never washing towels is weird. Hoarding all the crap she does (mentally and physically) is weird.

Definitely true, and it would be problematic and tokenistic if she sought out to actively 'diversify her friends'. But she's a very internet person and lives in Manchester. You'd have to be actively avoiding anyone non-white/cis etc to keep such a narrow circle as hers!

If I was her employee I’d feel so awkward about that. There really should be a line between work and personal life especially when you’re a boss!!
