I used to like this girl and I’ve been tempted to buy from her shop a few times, but I couldn’t believe what I was hearing on her stories the other day about “I’ll never work 9-5 5 days a week ever again” or whatever she said! That’s lovely Polly good for you but recognise your privilege 
I would be so peed off hearing that if I were her staff.
She seems like she’d be the most chaotic boss as well, bet she comes in at 10am with a coffee, does 4 hours of work and then flounces off to Instagram her late lunch mid afternoon only to go straight home afterwards and leaves the girls hard at work in the studio. I wonder if they’re actually happy with the new set up, sure it gives them more responsibility and shows Polly trusts them but I feel like Amelia joined when it was her and Polly all cosy in her house working closely together?
Does Polly not realise she’s only able to have half days and WFH days because those girls are doing the hard graft packing and boring admin stuff! God forbid if she ever found this thread I fear we’d never hear the last of it!

I think it’s gone to her head and quite honestly if she carries on she could risk flatlining her business. I don’t see how it’ll work (long term) as a business anyway, it’s very generic, overpriced and the new items aren’t that unique
I expect she imagines she will progress into more expensive gifts and homewares but I don’t see how.

Her footballer stories are making me uncomfortable. Of course people are always going to fancy celebrities but idk she is coming off as such a creep.
She's also making it very clear that only the white footballers could be considered attractive. Particularly bad considering she lives in Manchester and there's been so much press about the racist abuse directed at Black players, including Rashford who is from Withington!

She hasn’t even acknowledged the racism has she? Like you say, as she lives in Manchester you’d think she’d be more aware but that would mean she has to think about someone other than herself & have empathy for others.
THat's not entirely true, she started her business from the ground up and put in the hard graft. Now she employs people, they do what they're paid to do. So I'm not sure it really matters how much work she puts in, as long as the people doing the work for her are getting paid for what they're doing. I only say this because if I was ballsy and creative enough to start my own business, my work-life balance would be a lot better too!
Things aren’t as clear cut as that. Lots of people would start their own businesses if they didn’t have to worry about making a certain amount of money and having a safety net. She was lucky that she was a student when she started her business, and that she didn’t need to also get another job. Lots of us have been working since we were 16, but we needed to work in more traditional jobs to make consistent money. I get the feeling that wasn’t a concern for her.
Also she has employees but again we don’t know what they’re paid. Obviously they make at least minimum wage, but do they make the LIVING WAGE for Manchester? Who knows.
Would hope they’re at least getting paid well considering how much money she bragged her company was making in a podcast
yeah I mean you say ground up but really did she? Her family are privileged af, at least three of them have their own business so

I like following Polly (her cooking looks great and I enjoy her stories) but god, echoing what other's say, she really doesn't recognise her privilege at all. Her content is enjoyable to me but I don't think we would be friends irl.
Would be shook if she isn't a Lib Dem (I don't think she's a Tory as I think she would think of herself as too creative for that or whatever). Also, her vibes are very southerner who moves to the north for a bit but somehow doesn't make any friends who are from north of Nottingham? It feels like she only lives up in Manchester for cheap rent and will move back to Surrey as soon as she can afford a house deposit.

Polly 100% used to be a Tory, at least when she was at school. I remember very clearly some of the stuff she Tweeted and liked. She might have changed her mind now but she's from a posh part of Surrey with a wealthy family.
I do think that starting her business at school and carrying it on through uni whilst still achieving a First is not to be sniffed at. Yes she has a well off background and therefore didn't need to work in a retail job or whatever like most people, but equally she probably could've afforded to not work at all. She used to be much more down to earth though, I really dislike her comment about 'never working 9-5 five days a week again' when I bet that's what her staff have to do. She's lost any humility.

She pays £9.50 an hour for packing jobs so she's paying living wage as a minimum

We do know what they were paid because I’m pretty sure she posted that info when she posted the job adverts at the time.

I’ve stayed quiet and observed this thread for a while but I couldn’t not chip in on this... Speaking as someone who makes and sells polymer clay jewellery that takes *days* per piece on many occasions, her obvious desire to exploit small creators in this community is sickening. Good polymer clay jewellery takes a hell of a lot of work; you can’t mass produce it well. What she designed and had made is not remotely unique - most creators are making/have made incredibly similar pieces and have already moved on to bigger, better and more complex creations. Something about wanting to subcontract out to more polymer clay artists to be able to mass produce jewellery that is, by nature, supposed to be individual, unique pieces, is incredibly frustrating.
