you realise this was 19/20 years ago right? And it included a pool and a dead body?

Exactly, the tabloids and media in general are a very different beast nowadays,
They’d face huge backlash from running a story like this, especially without the person themselves speaking out first!!!

It just wouldn’t happen nowadays 🤷‍♀️
The press haven’t changed - don’t forget that only a few months ago Gareth Thomas was forced to reveal he was HIV positive. Journalists were threatening to run the story and even told his parents he was HIV positive!

I know someone who works on TM. She said he’s awful and definitely gay, his marriage is just for show. Also told me Holly very fond of the white stuff, and when she’s “drunk” she’s actually high.
Pick the lotto numbers next!

I firmly believe he was about to be outed. My sympathies lie with Stephanie. I think the timing of the statement was very telling. He had to get in there first and repair his reputation.
I think anyone who comes out is immensely brave. However I am not sympathetic where Pip is concerned. He’s earned so much money over the year with his family man image. This statement has made him untouchable now.

I very much doubt he’s had to spend his adult life hiding. He hasn’t just ‘become’ gay overnight. He also doesn’t appear to have struggled with his life until recently either.
The point I was making that some celebrities, like Barrymore, came out as gay after having been married for years and turned into absolutely sleazy creeps. I don’t care what Phil’s sexuality is, I just hope he doesn’t become a parody of a gay man 🤷🏼‍♀️
Is it just me or did he look more feminine today? Sat there with his legs crossed and the way he dramatically 🙄 hugged Holly.

Announce this now whilst hes in the press for being a bit of a dick - gets the sympathy - couldn't care if hes gay or not but his timing is dubious... I feel sorry for his wife.

I used to like him when he first started presenting with Fern and they had a genuine friendship and used to burst into fits of laughter. It was VERY genuine. However, once he got rid of Fern and brought Holly on board he tried to still do the bursting into fits of laughter and it just appeared very, very fake. That's when I stopped watching.

I'm glad he's getting some stick. Well deserved.

Yes and Holly laying it on thick really didn’t help: “the silver haired man with a heart of gold”. Ok Holly we get it.
Can we not get them off tv now. Nauseauting how much they love themselves. When they announced the world and Phil and holly feigned shock. Fuck off the pair of you. Don’t think anyone loves them more than they love themselves

Except me** being gay or straight doesn’t make him a better person either way neither does it make him nice.

Fair play for what? So what if he’s gay. No one else in the country has people falling over themselves to be nice when they come out. He’s still a prick regardless of sexuality.
Exactly... it doesn’t suddenly make him a nice person... all it does is put a halt to people who work/worked with him saying anything negative about him for fear of being labelled homophobic and harming their careers ... it’s a very clever damage limitation ploy and no
doubt one that his wife is happy to go along with
At the start of the segment when Ruth and Eamonn were handing over to Phil and Holly for the announcement and following interview they shared a raised eyebrow look ... I think Eamonn’s attempts at a joke were to cover the awkwardness that they were all feeling at having to look supportive and sympathetic when there is obviously animosity between them.

If, as a lot of people suspect, this was sort of an open secret then something has happened now to force his hand. The bad press around him has sent more people digging, more rumours swirling and possibly people ready to come out the woodwork for a price. Which is horrible. I agree with the comment earlier that it is interesting he has said he is gay - not bisexual - thus firmly and publicly rejecting any hint of attraction to his wife.
I have always thought he was a smug prat and probably always will tbh. I feel sorry that he has probably publicly cheated on his wife and is being told he is brave for it. I do think coming out is a brave thing to do but the cheating aspect obviously is the flip side. However I get that the whole thing is complicated and more goes on in a marriage than you will know and maybe Steph is fully happy and supportive. However he has now put this in the open and of course people will speculate.

Wow the video makes sense now where the poster commented on the beard. Again no issue with him being gay. My issue is he’s a knob!

I watched the whole interview and if any of you reckon this is all a stunt then you need your heads checking.

I don't know if this has been posted on this thread or elsewhere on this site so far, but back in 1992, Spitting Image did a pastiche of Tom Robinson's 'Glad To Be Gay', with Philip Schofield and Jason Donovan. Seems like it was well known 28 years ago, but Schofield's wife and mother are making out they are so surprised😛. Here's the link

I think Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins should present This Morning. They've got just the right amount of empathy and comedy and can do serious as well as have jokes without the mean girls attitude that Phil and Holly do in front of those around them. Both Phil and Holly have made This Morning unwatchable for me, as has the inclusion on the cast of the dimwit Love Island slebs and Towie bunch

I also like Ruth and Eamon or Ruth and Ryan. This Morning need to bin Phil and Holly now, and also half the Towie and Love Island reallity star crew they bring in as presenters.
Do you remember the show they had years ago called Light Lunch? Very much in the vein of TM and funny too.

It was funny that first year they presented This Morning the night after the NTA’s when they were genuinely still wearing the same clothes, genuinely still drunk and genuinely hanging out their arses and on the brink of puking at any moment. It’s just kinda boring now.
