At the start of the segment when Ruth and Eamonn were handing over to Phil and Holly for the announcement and following interview they shared a raised eyebrow look ... I think Eamonn’s attempts at a joke were to cover the awkwardness that they were all feeling at having to look supportive and sympathetic when there is obviously animosity between them.

27 years ago was what... 1993. I remember 1993 really well, I was in high school. It wasn’t the Victorian ages, although it wasn’t as open as it is now people generally didn’t care too much about homosexuality. A lad in the sixth form was openly gay, wore a denim jacket that said ‘ahoy sailor’ on it and told us that he’d had a liaison with Toby Anstis (another CBBC presenter of the day).

Rumour is The Sun were threatening to run the story, so me putting £10 on Piers Morgan and Dan Wootton teaming up was half right if the rumour is true.

I very much doubt he’s had to spend his adult life hiding. He hasn’t just ‘become’ gay overnight. He also doesn’t appear to have struggled with his life until recently either.Good thing it's not you who has spent their adult life hiding who they are- do you know how damaging this is? Most people are lucky to make it out alive after years of internalised shame. "Making up for lost time", as you so eloquently put it is quite normal and usually expected, and totally not your place to judge.
