His career wasn’t going well at the time of John Leslie’s sacking and it was Fern who suggested Phillip as his replacement. Then it seems he got too big for his boots and now thinks he runs the show.

I liked him and Fern but once she left he became too arrogant. I can’t stand him and Holly presenting so stopped watching years ago.

I’m sure he’ll still come out of this hiccup smelling of roses!
I like Fern they should bring her back with Richard Madaley and get rid of Holly and Phil.

I met Ruth when I was interviewed for This Morning ( a long, long time ago). She and eammon were absolutely lovely. So genuine, warm and professional. Both on screen and off. They are so mindful of the crew and other staff as well and everyone on set just seemed very happy.
She is super professional though, if she made a complaint I can imagine it was for a serious reason.
Anyway totally team Ruth!

This is the reason I love this site. Sick of people on my social media falling for the whole story (gotta congratulate the damage control though tbh) and this thread is a breath of fresh air 👏🏼

I used to work with someone who told me about a rumour and that was a good 20’odd years ago - apparently it was well known in showbusiness circles. Good luck to him, better late than never !
I have a friend who works there too and apparently him and Rylan have engaged in oral fun :)

Both married men!

I’m so conflicted with how I feel about this. If he had made a statement saying I love my wife but I fancy other women and want to have sexual relations with other women would we be calling him brave?

he can’t live a lie, sure but I think as much yes, being gay is nothing To hide or be ashamed of, the celebration Of his bravery and coming out is perhaps disrespectful to his wife who must be questioning her whole life right now. So many angles...

All my friends are praising him and I just wanna tell them not to see if for face value but know I will get lynched!!
Yep I’m being bollocked on fb for not praising him 🙄 my sympathy is with his wife. If my husband pulled this stunt I would possibly bury him under the patio (joking) but I would feel incredibly betrayed

If hi wife was so supportive I'm surprised she was not by his side holding his hand. Especially if she has known for a long time and they have lived separate lives. We can only go by his words on this, until she speaks out. Makes me think it's not all as it seems. His last line about being kind to his family?? Why would anyone be other than kind to them? It's odd. As for holly, I've never seem the point of her tbh. Vapid and boring. I remember her interview with paul Burrell, she wasnt clutching his hand and telling him how brave he was 🙄

I'm with the other cynics here, he's now untouchable, and his wife and kids lives have been shattered.
I’m pretty sure he didn’t do this for damage control ffs 🤦🏼‍♀️ I’m fed up of seeing people saying his wife & kids have been ruined, damaged etc. No one knows what goes on behind closed doors. If you had to go through something like that, then you would know that you absolutely wouldn’t do it because you’ve had a bit of bad press, (which wasn’t really hindering his career anyway) or any other pathetic reason.. It’s an absolutely massive thing to do which affects his whole family & I applaud him 👏🏻

He's not just coming out though is he.. He's coming out after nearly 30 years of marriage. And his wife hasn't been 'just kissing' him.. She's been married to him, had children with him and will now be doubting the validity of her life and memories. I don't think anyone is gay bashing (i'm definitely not), they're just ex pressing sympathy for his wife.
One can still have lead a valid life with someone and then be gay. Just because he's come out doesn't invalidate his life up to that point.

I keep changing my mind on this! Yesterday I was quite moved by the public show of affection and how genuine it came across between the 4 hosts on TM. However scanning social media anyone else think it's funny Ruth hasn't posted anything at all yet most other high profile personalities have.
i'd say Ruth & Eamonn were ordered to weigh in with the support. Probably had no choice but to present a united front. how actually weasel-y was PS on that sofa, trying to make himself appear as small & frail as poss. I also doubt that when he announced it to his daughters their initial reaction was to jump up and hug him. Nor do i believe for one moment that his wife's family are wrapping their arms around him in a big circle of love- i have a daughter so can imagine what my reaction would be... unless my daughter agreed to live the lie with him to enjoy the benefits it undoubtedly brought. What a sacrifice tho if she did.

I would love Schofield to be exposed for the nasty, vain obnoxious twat he is.

I like Ruth and Eamonn , I know many think Eamonn’s a wanker but he’s been a journalist and as a result he’s a more knowledgable and far better presenter than that dick who had to have a squeaking puppet to make him famous.

TM’s far better without Schofield and his sidekick.

Why do people keep mentioning Rylan? What’s gone on?
Oral sex according to an earlier post on here 😂

But, in all seriousness, I think it stems back to an interview Rylan gave or a comment he made (I'll have to try and find the source) where he said something about some people in Showbiz not being as nice as you think and everyone jumped to the conclusion that he was talking about PS. And I think he works on This Morning anymore, certainly not when PS & HW are on (I only watch now and again so not 100% sure)

He is also incredibly close to Ruth and Eamonn. When Ruth's sister took her own life last year, Eamonn said Rylan was the first person she called and he sat with Eamonn when he made the announcement that Ruth would be off for a while. It was obvious then what good friends they are. It was very touching. Feel emotional just thinking about it actually.

I’m finding a lot of the comments on this thread quite hard to read. Whether you like Philip or not, coming out as gay at the age of 57 IS a brave thing to do. Homophobia is sadly still rife, even in this day and age. I know, first hand, the effects of keeping a ‘secret’ like this can do to someone. It eats away, slowly chipping away at you until it takes you to the brink. But telling the truth and being who you truly are is sometimes too much for some people, largely due to the reactions of others. Some comments saying ‘oh he’ll be on dancing on ice next year’ and ‘ Philip and Rylan will be best mates etc’ WHY???? because he’s gay??? FFS this narrow minded ignorance is why people find it so hard to be honest. And has anyone thought maybe he’s difficult to work with because he’s been carrying this for years?
So does being bullied in the workplace.

I was born in the 1970's, grew up in the 1980's. My mum has worked in the NHS for most of my life and had gay male hairdressers (one who gave me my first job as a Saturday girl after the six hours he spent on my spiral perm 😂) so I've always been around gay people, some incredibly out and camp even back then. So I have to admit I'm struggling with this "it was hard coming out in the 1990's, the world was a different place" blah blah blah when, having lived through it, I don't feel it. That said, I've never had to come out.

I think Phil has always known he was gay but tried to convince himself he was in love with a woman. Wouldn't be the first and certainly won't be the last. It's always sad when someone feels they have to live in a lie but, unfortunately, there will always be bigots in this world. Personally, I don't care who you shag as long as it makes you happy, it's legal and you're not ruining someone else's life in the process. You get one life - it's too short to be unhappy and not be your true self. I have always said that. I believe him when he says they love each other very much and I don't think their marriage has been a "waste" and I sincerely hope Steph doesn't either. I suspect she's always known deep down and that there has been an agreement of some kind.

When I was 18, I went out with someone who I suspected was gay - he was pretty camp and really wasn't interested in me sexually (to be honest, I had vaginismus so it was a relief but he wasn't interested in doing other stuff either) - and my mum certainly did too as she made no bones about telling me when I told her we'd split up 😂 In his case, he'd just reconnected with his dad after a long period of estrangement. His dad was a real womaniser - was very flirty with me - and I think he just couldn't admit it, even to himself. He had a very out and proud gay friend who I bumped into years later - he was the one who told me he'd come out. He thought I'd be upset but it was the least surprising news ever.

I haven't seen any what I would consider homophobia on here but, again, I'm not gay so 🤷🏻‍♀️ I am disabled though and don't have a problem with disabled jokes as long as they're not malicious. And I haven't seen a malicious comment on here - just a bit of leg pulling. Nothing that I would consider crossing a line. However, I appreciate maybe that's something I need to think more about.

Just read this in a Metro article about it..

Phil previously said of his kids: ‘I’m very proud of the fact that my daughters keep me very current. Both of them have great taste in music and play stuff that I maybe haven’t heard before. ‘I was driving Ruby back to uni [university] and she said, “You’ve got to listen to this”. Ruby and her mates discovered it just before it broke – Megan Trainor’s ‘All About That Bass’. ‘As we listened to it … I can remember I said, “oh my God, this is incredible”. And I thank Ruby for introducing me to that, way before anybody else!’

.. How did we not know haha  😂

I’m not taking away from the fact this might’ve been difficult for him BUT now he is definitely untouchable. ITV could not fire him now he’s come out as gay.
Although plenty of people in Tattle have mentioned him being openly gay. I love tattle always first with the tea!

No one cares if he’s gay but I am extremely cynical about the timing of the statement .

He’s using his emotional state and sexuality to deflect from the growing realisation amongst a lot of people that he’s a snivelling , snide twat with a massive ego.
Was just about to say this!

A very calculated move.
