I was going to say he had to announce it because he is very publicly married with children but I suppose they could have just said they’d separated and then he could have gone about the rest of his life discreetly being gay. That way, if he was in a relationship in a couple of years (for example) which became public knowledge he could have just said “yes it’s true I am gay it’s not a big deal.” It didn’t need to be a huge public announcement pitty party

I am not sure why people think there has to be more to it. I think perhaps he has finally got the courage to come out. Plain and simple. It isn't unusual for people to come out when older or if they are married and the sooner people realise that, the better.

There’s some speculation that his manager wife knew about it and acted as his beard. If that’s true, they had kids and knowingly lied to them all their lives .

I keep changing my mind on this! Yesterday I was quite moved by the public show of affection and how genuine it came across between the 4 hosts on TM. However scanning social media anyone else think it's funny Ruth hasn't posted anything at all yet most other high profile personalities have.

I thought Ruth and Eamonn both looked as awkward as fuck yesterday. And I thought Eamonn's "joke" about Schofield quitting was VERY telling. Many a true word spoken in jest and all that.

And the only reason Eamonn has posted a 'supportive' message is so he can basically say fuck off to everyone criticising him at the end of it

This is obviously speculation, but regarding the tiff Ruth had with Phillip, could it be partially because MM confided in her or she could see how PS was treating him. MM has spent days with Ruth on his Twitter account and they seemed to get on. Although he’s 24/25 now, Phillip following him in 2011.... nine years ago...

27 years ago was what... 1993. I remember 1993 really well, I was in high school. It wasn’t the Victorian ages, although it wasn’t as open as it is now people generally didn’t care too much about homosexuality. A lad in the sixth form was openly gay, wore a denim jacket that said ‘ahoy sailor’ on it and told us that he’d had a liaison with Toby Anstis (another CBBC presenter of the day).

what I’m trying to say is it would have been awkward but not impossible for Phil to have come out before he was married. He was a theatre luvvie as Joseph around that time, I don’t think anyone would’ve been stunned, except his CORE FANBASE of housewives.

Yes I feel awfully sorry for Fern. Bereavement and marriage breaking up around the same time is a lot to bear - no matter how amicable (been there and it is horrible).

I always wondered what Phil V felt about Phil S. I rarely watch TM but it always amused me that when PV did a cookery segment and Phil and Holly started showing off he would just stare at them stonily. I like to think he is just thinking 'wanker'.

There was a guy who worked with Phillip when he was in Joseph and his amazing Technicolor dreamcoat,after the recent corbyn interview and people started saying negative things about Phillip he wrote on Twitter that finally people can see what a c@nt he is and he was vile to work with. Apparently Phillip was rude, condescending and overall an absolute ball bag of a person.

Can't say I'm surprised, I cannot stand Holly, I think she is amazingly disingenuous, she couldnt give a rats ass about anyone else, plus shes good friends with the singer from All Saints who I once met and was bitch from hell.
