which makes it all the more obvious it’s damage control 🤷‍♀️
I doubt he would have come out at all if he wasn’t feeling the backlash of recent events
To be fair, 10 - 15 years ago would have been catastrophic for his girls during their teenage years! I’d like to think he waited til they were grown adults so that they could process it better/more easily

I mean was he not "Mr nice guy " the housewives favourite ? the public adored him ! when he came out ,they still adored him .It was only after the tabloids got hold of the Stuart Lubbock affair things changed for him ,they had/have no proof of any wrong doing on his part but it didn't take long for them tear him down as quick as they built him up...I mean his wife has obviously known for yrs how could she not? but if someone is making an accusation against an A list celeb of course there gonna chance their arm that's what sells papers..I find it strange he's decided to "come out" now ! unless there's something to be gained ? or maybe like he's claimed it's for peace of mind ,but if he's not planning on a relationship we would be none the wiser ,so can't see why he didn't just keep it behind closed doors?
I never liked Barrymore, always thought there was something off about him. His behaviour following that poor man's death proved this, vile human being who only cares about himself.

Also this, when asked about his wife Steph.

Phil: "I have no secrets, we've never had any secrets."

He goes on to say;
"She is amazing. She's incredible. I have never in my life, there is nobody in my life who would have supported me the way, as a wife, the way she has supported me. She's astonishing. "

That makes me think she knew all along and if not right from the very beginning, then very near to it. Saying you have NEVER had any secrets is a big statement to make. So prehaps it was a marriage of convenience that suited them both.
Yes this is what I found odd because if you've just recently come out as gay to your wife you defiantly do have secrets.

Also all this about it wasn't as accepted back in the day to be gay. No it wasn't but he didn't have to get married he could have just stayed 'single' like Andi peters and Stephen Mulhern who are gay but never have admitted it if you know what I mean.

Is it school holidays on London next week? though.
I think the whole thing is forced and staged
London schools are on half term holidays from 17-21 February 2020.

You are right on the money with it being forced and staged. Eamonn Holmes looked reluctant and uncomfortable. They must be sick of the amount of trouble PS has caused in the last year.

I watched the documentary the body in the pool last night and when Barrymore was on this morning a few weeks ago Phillip was so nice to him it could be to do with him knowing this could come out if there is a scandal of some sort to come soon !

I've always wondered why she works term time only when her daughter is about 25 😂. Surprised she's still got her own show, god she's boring I'm sure she must have something over someone at ITV!
Ah but don't forget, she's playing the character of Lorraine when she's on the telly 🤪

I know someone who works on TM. She said he’s awful and definitely gay, his marriage is just for show. Also told me Holly very fond of the white stuff, and when she’s “drunk” she’s actually high.
The TV industry is awash with this, it's absolutely everywhere, so this wouldn't be a surprise.

The question is.....has he always known he was gay and married for his career or has he just began to realise his true sexuality?

A friend of mines dad turned out to be gay. He came out years later while married and with a child. It is more common than we think.
A relative of mines just married his boyfriend at the weekend ,a lavish ceremony his grown up children gave him away ,were bridesmaids etc ...times have moved on definitely, but I always tell my children be true to yourself! because someone always gets hurt along the way ...In this case it was his wife .But your right it's very common.

Bit strange tbf ! if he's known for years him and the wife's relationship would have been brother and sister for sure ,why come out now? unless the Sunday morning tabloids know something we don't ....
I’m still really confused as to where the blackmail angle is coming from.
no paper was going to run a story suggesting he might be gay, not in this day and age!

a rumour is a rumour, he wasn’t held to ransom, even if he had be outed the person outing him would be the one to pay the price not him
he hasn’t murdered someone, just killed him marriage 🤷‍♀️

this will protect him from all negative press for a long time, no media outlet wants to be accused of being homophobic.

his brand is Mr nice guy, and he’s 100% secured that brand now.

Good thing it's not you who has spent their adult life hiding who they are- do you know how damaging this is? Most people are lucky to make it out alive after years of internalised shame. "Making up for lost time", as you so eloquently put it is quite normal and usually expected, and totally not your place to judge. :)
I very much doubt he’s had to spend his adult life hiding. He hasn’t just ‘become’ gay overnight. He also doesn’t appear to have struggled with his life until recently either.
The point I was making that some celebrities, like Barrymore, came out as gay after having been married for years and turned into absolutely sleazy creeps. I don’t care what Phil’s sexuality is, I just hope he doesn’t become a parody of a gay man 🤷🏼‍♀️

Ahhh I was not expecting that ... I thought Holly’s post was referring to them being proud for getting up earlier 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

I swear I’ve read before that a ‘tell’ sign that someone isn’t speaking the truth, is when their body language is the exact opposite of what they are saying.

I was reminded of it as I cringed through that self-indulgent segment on This Morning and PS said to Holly, “it was entirely my decision” (to come out now) while shaking his head. 🤔

and incidentally, Ruth seems genuinely to be holding his hand, and supportive in her body language (turned towards, not away from him) so either it’s bygones or their tiff was blown way out of proportion... or didn’t exist.

When Ruth and Eamon present I feel it's fairly equal. When Pip and Squeal present how come he asks all the hard hitting questions and takes the lead in the interview?

Its actually makes me dislike Holly (even more) as why doesn't she stand up for herself and fulfill her role as joint presenter!?

"So what prompted the move to ‘come out’? The public step has been taken with the assistance of a crisis management PR who helped pop star Sir Cliff Richard when he was falsely accused of being a child molester in 2014.

I understand that Phil Taylor, of Phil Hall Associates, has been retained by Phillip since June last year - he called on them for help after a public spat with fellow TV personality Amanda Holden.

A fully prepared media strategy, including a newspaper interview about coming out, is in place for this Sunday. By the end of it, Phillip will have moved on with dignity."

Not really comfortable with the immense admiration, "so brave" etc. He would have been brave 30 years ago, but instead he choose to use a woman, who likely wasn't consenting just to be a "beard", whereas she went into things thinking it was a genuine romantic relationship. He has claimed the public narrative to distance it away from the bullying allegations, and made public with such fanfare something that today is so mundane. His poor wife is basically limited to showing how "supportive" she is. else she be accused on intolerance, despite her being lied to and used for public image because Schoff, couldn't be brave to come out, or at least not drag a woman into his insecurities like this.

Think this is something prominent LGB spokespeople need to have a word with themselves about, it's not right to marry someone of the opposite sex, to use them for public image, to have children etc when they believe the relationship is a genuine het one. Even if we could understand reasoning why he would have been scared to be himself openly at the time, doesn't make it right. He should have just quietly divorced his wife, and gave her some dignity, instead of splashing this on the media whilst still being married.
Absolutely this! Lgbtq men need to stop using women in this way. It's selfish and callous, and accrual very common.
