ITV has always been quick to stamp out suggestions that Phillip Schofield is anything other than a charming silver fox who the housewives all adore – but they don't seem to be doing a great job of stemming the recent tide of negative tabloid reporting.

Insiders at ITV say the reason they're struggling to contain the story is because their daytime TV department is in absolute freefall behind the scenes and they kind of have their hands full.

Multiple complaints have been filed this year about a wider culture of workplace bullying – some against talent, others against bosses – but complainants were all asked to kindly button their lips while the top brass looked into them. It seems that no-one's heard anything more about it since, not even star talent like Amanda Holden and Ruth Langsford. So lips are being unbuttoned again.

Which would explain why so many people have ended up speaking to the press all at once. And why 'unearthed' clips of Schofe and Langsford from April are suddenly making headlines in December.

Funnily enough I was wondering how Phil V could face Pipsqueak regularly if it was true about the bad blood between him and Fern Britton - and have just seen her announcing on Twitter that she and Phil V are separating.
Obviously I do not know her but she always seems nice so that is sad, plus her dad died recently. A horrible time anyway.

God, I hope none of you ever have to go through coming out. The comments here are absolutely awful. It must have been heartbreaking to realise that you're living a life you're not meant to. Also, love is more than about who you're currently kissing so I do not think that his wife has been living a "wasted life" you all need to realise what it's like for homosexual people to admit their truths. No wonder so many people stay in the closet when comments like these ones are being made.

A personal announcement can be both difficult and calculated.

I watched the whole interview and if any of you reckon this is all a stunt then you need your heads checking.

Holly & Phil are said to be pocketing a cool £130,000 more a year with This Morning running a half hour longer a day since ITV's schedule shakeup, but no one working behind the scenes on the ITV chat show have been given a raise for the extra work... poor show and tone deaf if true

So they get that for 2 hours a week more 'work'? Not including the huge breaks they both take off over the summer. Unbelievable. If that was their entire yearly wage alone it would still be far too bloody much.

But if you were hiding it you’d been taking a big risk taking young men anywhere for sex when you’re as famous as Phil. Nobodies keeping that secret. unless after it they made them sign an NDA which is a bit of an odd situation

PS said in an interview years ago that he got away with a lot of drug taking and heavy drinking with others from the tv set because they avoided Central London and partied in Chiswick. Some people must have known where the flat was, or its location wouldn't have got out. However, it's not an obvious celebrity sighting spot like Chelsea or Kensington, for example. He was perhaps discreet by not entering and leaving the property with his boyfriends.

Good find! I agree with you and if he does end up with more egg on his face than a frittata, it will be difficult to regain the trust of the viewing public. The public don't like being treated like they have left their collective brains on the doorstep. Now that it is alleged that he was keeping a flat in Southwark to have sex with young men, I can't see how his damage limitation gurus can help him now. At the end of the day, I think Schofield will stop at nothing to save his career. It's like Barrymore, their career in the limelight is everything to them.
