I'm not sure if people are running away with the blackmail thing on this thread as I was the first to comment questioning his reason
I have no idea if he was being blackmailed or if his hand was forced, I only wondered if it was the case based on the timing of coming out, the way it was dropped out of nowhere, the fact he doesn't appear to be getting divorced or separated from his wife, and previous celebrity blackmailings.

So if it was my musing then I apologise, bit I never said categorically that he must be being blackmailed!
Although I have seen people wondering the same thing on other platforms.

You may have said it first here but a lot of us here and elsewhere were thinking it so don't worry! I don't think speculating about the reasons he came out are harmful - entirely natural to wonder about it all when made so public. If he did have his hand forced I think that is awful tbh. But personally I think that is probably the case in one way or another.

I’m still really confused as to where the blackmail angle is coming from.
no paper was going to run a story suggesting he might be gay, not in this day and age!

a rumour is a rumour, he wasn’t held to ransom, even if he had be outed the person outing him would be the one to pay the price not him
he hasn’t murdered someone, just killed him marriage

this will protect him from all negative press for a long time, no media outlet wants to be accused of being homophobic.

his brand is Mr nice guy, and he’s 100% secured that brand now.

Maybe someone has the dirt on him liking underage boys. With all the pedos being outed of late, who knows, but def something more than being. gay

2, obviously for some its a hard thing to deal with but a lot of people carry things inside but they are not pricks with it to colleagues etc

neither mark foster nor Luke Evans seemed to have the need to do this

I must say Holly is taking a risk with her career publicly supporting him to this extent. If it blows up in his face and everything we all think is indeed proven to be true he will be finished. Funnily enough I was wondering how Phil V could face Pipsqueak regularly if it was true about the bad blood between him and Fern Britton - and have just seen her announcing on Twitter that she and Phil V are separating.
Obviously I do not know her but she always seems nice so that is sad, plus her dad died recently. A horrible time anyway.

Oh gosh, I looked it up and they really are separating, that's so sad to hear! Sorry it's OT but I can't remember a time they weren't married! I love Phil Vickery, he seems really calm and soothing to be around, and I thought Fern brought a ton of laughter and energy to the relationship, so they seemed such a good balance for each other.

Philip Schofield on the other hand...comes off as really immature and stroppy. I'd love to get all the gossip on that one.

It’s not as bad for the daughters though. They’ll have their dad regardless ... although obviously I know it breaks up their family. For his wife though she’s lost her husband and lived a lie. If that makes sense. Trying to be careful how I word as don’t want to cause any offence

Was he? I didn't see that. I like Rylan he seems a genuine lovely guy and his radio show is good too.

My faves to return would be Richard and Judy.
I don’t like Phil and Holly and but Amanda Holden is vile. Rochelle is not a good presenter imo but she’s pretty harmless.

I did enjoy it when it was Phil and Fern but since then Phil has gotten so arrogant and snooty.

I would also like to see Richard & Judy back but Judy wouldn't do it full time. I don't mind Rochelle she's not as bad as some presenters they've had on.

I also cant stand Phil on that spend it well for Christmas programme he's even roped his wife in fgs.

I am not sure why people think there has to be more to it. I think perhaps he has finally got the courage to come out. Plain and simple. It isn't unusual for people to come out when older or if they are married and the sooner people realise that, the better.

A friend of mine knows someone who works at this morning , and apparently they have known for ages as he is shagging some intern there

it would not surprise me in the least, and holly gushing over him made a bit of sick come up my throat as when she interviewed Paul Burrell she grilled him...he should have had a backbone yrs ago..maybe it suited the pair of them to stay together and now pails not with his wife it may open the path to them both getting married

I reckon someone was about to expose his little secret.. just seemed a bit random for him to declare it today he could of done it during the summer holidays when him & his whole family were tucked away somewhere, & then after a few weeks everything would of slightly settled down & they could of faced the cameras together

All very odd. The way the article is written, it’s obvious the write knew he was gay then. Perhaps he also wanted to wait to come out until his Dad had passed away...
