Good on him, it can’t be easy to come out after so long. What I’m confused is, how does he know he is gay? He’s been with a woman for 30 years, did he have a fling before that and hid it? Or has he had an affair recently which has confirmed his feelings? I just don’t believe that you can have feelings for the opposite sex if you’ve never been there before and tried it

I think the drama needed to happen though because of his wife and kids. He needs to show that he isn’t going “tadaa im gay” and then runs off with a new man.

He has probably met someone and that is what has forced the announcement.. I would think ..or she has and wants to go public herself

Yes. 'Loose Women'. His move was covered in The Mirror in December, I think. Strange for a runner on a programme to attract an article about their job change in a national newspaper. I think the Mirror was trying to give hints.

And why on a Friday when him and Holly don't even work on Fridays? It's obvious he had been informed a story was going to be 'coming out' in the press.

I think he announced it on a Friday so he then has a few days off with the story out before going back to work. If he announced it on Tuesday and then went on to start interviewing random people all morning on TV it would probably be a bit weird for him.

I think it’s more a case of she’s shattered not so much about the fact that he’s gay ( I think she was well aware of that ) but more by the fact that it’s now common knowledge and all the hoo hah that comes with it she is obviously under a lot of scrutiny and is going to be hounded by the press etc
Even if she knew the fall out for her and her family will obviously be immense.

I know this opinion won't be popular but I've felt for ages that ITVs daytime schedule needs a good overhaul, Lorraine then This morning then Loose women it's like one big clique, no diversity no choice for the viewer it just never ends month after month why can't they change it up totally, the BBC have Victoria Derbyshire and around that on both sides a nice turn over of different programmes through out the daytime schedule , I find ITV so tacky there I said it don't kill me

Absolutely agree. ITV needs to find some new talent, it's just the same old, same old. No diversity and the Loose Women isn't exactely people I would listen to or take advice from.

We need some young spunky up and comers and some older people who are well rounded and educated and not just wanting to hear the sound of their own voice

I believe Fleet Street probably knew. I work once a week for a journalist couple for one of our top newspapers and my gosh some of the stories i hear from them!! the tactics and manipulation from both sides (press and celebrity) involved and the deals and trade offs that go on a regular basis are truly scandalous!!!

One common and less shocking tactic used for instance is the ‘leaking’ of insignificant/dramatised stories in exchange for not running the true story or holding off on it giving the person involved time to get their affairs in orders before it breaks.

It’s fair enough to say the newspapers don’t want to be seen to ‘out‘ people in 2020 as the days of ‘The News Of The World’ must be seen to be over (even if that isn’t really the case behind the scenes)
