Anyone claiming that the world has changed so much is naive. There is still a lot of homophobia in the UK and there is still a huge stigma attached to it. British tabloids have horrendous practices and anyone suspecting that they don’t should do some research into the Leveson inquiry etc.
The world has changed, but it's still not perfect.

Someone gay in the entertainment industry is such a non story.

The sun and others regularly gay bashed back in the 90s, we're a world apart from that these days.

Well my gaydar must be broken. 😳 but I am a massive cynic. I mean well done to him and all that, coming out is really hard, but I do think the timing is really off, especially with the feud he was having behind the scenes, I do think it’s damage control.

I thought he was bonking Holly tbh 😂

I met Ruth when I was interviewed for This Morning ( a long, long time ago). She and eammon were absolutely lovely. So genuine, warm and professional. Both on screen and off. They are so mindful of the crew and other staff as well and everyone on set just seemed very happy.
She is super professional though, if she made a complaint I can imagine it was for a serious reason.
Anyway totally team Ruth!
I second that, i met Ruth many years ago before she worked on This Morning, she worked on TV in the South West and was so lovely and she introduced herself to us and couldn't be nicer.

Exactly... it doesn’t suddenly make him a nice person... all it does is put a halt to people who work/worked with him saying anything negative about him for fear of being labelled homophobic and harming their careers ... it’s a very clever damage limitation ploy and no
doubt one that his wife is happy to go along with
At the start of the segment when Ruth and Eamonn were handing over to Phil and Holly for the announcement and following interview they shared a raised eyebrow look ... I think Eamonn’s attempts at a joke were to cover the awkwardness that they were all feeling at having to look supportive and sympathetic when there is obviously animosity between them.
Exactly! And as for all the middle aged women thinking it’s fanfuckingtastic for coming out, it’s 2020 no one gives a shit honestly

Can’t stand Phil and Holly. They seem so manufactured, if that makes sense. All the laughing fits seem faked. Don’t like Eamonn or Ruth either though as all They do is bicker and Eamonn speaks over his wife. Love Rylan, love Alison.

Exactly! And I don't think it's off topic. JGM have way too much fucking power especially when it comes to covering the nasty stuff up or at least sanistising what the public get to hear.
According to the Daily Mail, a crisis management agency has been used before for Schofield's situations with other presenters. I am probably being naive here, but I wish ITV would redress the balance of how many clients of JG they use. I remember during the Ant McPartlin divorce/car crash there was an article about JG and they seem to actively encourage their clients to socialise together, holiday together, buy holiday homes in Portugal and to choose their new partner from someone in the JG organisation. In other words, JG control their clients' lives. It's like an entertainment industry cult. They're the new Manson Family:LOL:

Just my opinion.....

there are a lot of people who seem triggered by the comments on here, possibly because they’ve had difficulties coming out themselves and they’ve taken this situation and the discussion around it to heart.

I've commented on here that I think he’s done it as damage control, that doesn’t make me homophobic it makes me cynical!!
I think his wife (and probably kids when they got older) have always known.

He finished the segment with Eamon and Ruth lamenting about what a close and supportive family the “this morning team” are.......🤔🤔🤔🤔

when the narrative for WEEKS has been that Philip isn’t liked amongst the staff and crew.

this isn’t about Philip being gay, there’s far more to the story than who he might or might not want to shag 😬

The media have been quiet hard on him lately...
and just like that, he’s the golden boy again.

it worked in his favor whatever his reasons were to come out today!!
Bit strange tbf ! if he's known for years him and the wife's relationship would have been brother and sister for sure ,why come out now? unless the Sunday morning tabloids know something we don't ....

I can’t stand Schofield. I find him to be insincere - he would much prefer a team of ex reality stars as part of the show for numerous reasons :

1. The pay they receive is a pittance of his
2. They aren’t as bigger name
3. They can be replaced very easily

The whole Fern debacle was made me question his sincerity, he just has one of those passive aggressive smiling assassin faces ....

(he’ll be trawling this site soon)

As far as I’m aware Ruth and Phillip never present the show together so I don’t see what she could possibly put in a complaint about him for
Apparently he cut her off when she was doing the loose women link during this morning.

I rarely see TM but do find it funny when there is a cooking segment with Phil Vickery. Quite often Philip and Holly are larking about giggling especially if someone says 'sausage' and if they cut to Phil Vickery he is incredibly stoney faced. I'd love to know what he thinks of Philip.
I don't Philip is that nice tbh - I imagine he is ruthless.
I find it weird that phil vickery would even want to be on the show. He never seems like he wants to be there when hes on and there is no rapport between himself and P and H.

Do you remember the show they had years ago called Light Lunch? Very much in the vein of TM and funny too.
Mel and sue are the best.

I cant stand that people are praising him for being brave for using his fireguard that's been kept for an emergency. It doesn't help anyone but himself.
Amen!!
he’s so brave... no he’s so scared his damaged reputation might not recover. 🙄

To be fair, 10 - 15 years ago would have been catastrophic for his girls during their teenage years! I’d like to think he waited til they were grown adults so that they could process it better/more easily
you’re very kind, I personally think he wouldn’t have said nothing to anyone until he needed to deflect. 🤷‍♀️

Rumour is The Sun were threatening to run the story, so me putting £10 on Piers Morgan and Dan Wootton teaming up was half right if the rumour is true.

The Scum, why am I not surprised it’s them again.

The press haven’t changed - don’t forget that only a few months ago Gareth Thomas was forced to reveal he was HIV positive. Journalists were threatening to run the story and even told his parents he was HIV positive!
Thank you !!!
