best advice is to see a different doctor. 51 is way too late!! HRT has really helped my hot flushes and sweatsI am almost 42, pretty sure in peri. Went to GP as I am struggling with mood swings, hair thinning and loss and terrible terrible night sweats. He said I am far too young and suggested the pill or Prozac and to come back when I am 51. (I insisted on a referral and I am awaiting an appt).
I did start Prozac and cured night sweats completely, but had rendered me an insomniac. Anyway, I saw no dairy can help, any other suggestions to ease the sweating or hair loss? It’s properly affecting me.
Go see a different GP if you can, you sound like you definitely need some hormonal help.I am almost 42, pretty sure in peri. Honestly another appointment with a different GP. That’d bull and you shouldn’t need a referral . GP can prescribe. I’d also complain . It’s reallt clear NhS guidelines to prescribe based on symptoms and doesn’t sound like those have been followed .I am almost 42, pretty sure in peri. I went to see a GP at 44 or 45 with menstrual issues, she said it could be menopause related but unlikely as I was too young. In fairness, I was referred for tests and a scan. It wasn't, it was a 15" ovarian cyst, which did explain the pain! That’s truly tit advice @Sour Pickle
Guidelines for GPs say 45 is the age at which you have to really take a woman’s peri symptoms seriously. I mean that’s bad enough right - as if some women can’t really be suffering prior to that - but it sounds like he pulled 51 out of his a.
Also, it’s a classic move to send us away with antidepressants![]()
Did the doc take bloods to check your thyroid? That should be ruled out too.I am almost 42, pretty sure in peri. No - he just said there was nothing he could do (asked a lot about my mental health).Did the doc take bloods to check your thyroid? That should be ruled out too.
Great advice above re writing down a list of symptoms to bring along with you (advice I'll be taking myself too when I take the plunge and go get checked over!)Thanks all for the replies - based on them I am going to make an appointment and head back, to see someone else. I can’t do another few months of little sleep or feeling like I am losing my grip on reality.
Oh that’s awful. I am so sorry. It's really tit. And all I get from partner is "I don't want to hear about it, stupid women and their hormones, just get on with it "!![]()
