Hello everyone

Not posted in this thread before, so sorry if I’m repeating all that’s been said before 🥴

I’ll be 42 in November and I seriously think I’m suffering from perimenopus.
I now have the worst fatigue and it feels all the time. I can have a full night sleep and wake up with the shakes and feel exhausted, or I could sleep for 3-4 hours and feel the same. I have slumps in the afternoons and early evening where I could fall asleep standing up. My brain fog is worsening. I can walk in a room and forget why I’m there, go to do something and in a split second forget what I needed to do, forget what I’m wanting to say mid conversation, My latest one is I can’t remember / could tell anyone my current mobile number, but the one I had 15 years ago no problem! I feel like I have dementia.
I have palpitations, body aches, headaches, rage, short tempered, no energy, I now can’t drive on busy roads/ motorways as I’m too nervous, lost interest in alot of things , joint pains….

I had blood tests 2 years ago when I went to my GP, but everything come back normal and I never was given a return appointment to discuss further.

I feel the fatigue and brain fog are the main things that have worsened since then, but feel like it’s going to be battle to have a GP even listen to me 😔

I feel like I’m falling apart

I could have written this last year. Turned out it was the meds I was on for migraines. I stopped taking them, got on the HRT patches and life completely changed. I also have underactive thyroid, it might be worth getting that checked out. Also, I'm 42 and definitely had peri symptoms from about 38/39 but I didn't realise until last year that was the issue.
Good luck in finding something that helps you.

I forgot how to spell orange the other day.
sorry I shouldn’t laugh but I did - it’s bloody horrible isn’t it. I’ll tell my kids to do something and it’s the most random thing I’ll substitute the right word for.

One (of the many) things I struggle with with this is it's almost impossible to distinguish between things that are just normal ageing, things that are something to worry about that are not related to perimenopause and then the usual peri stuff.

Nearly a year now since I had a period, what does menopause tend to be like as opposed to Peri I mean.

My little boy was learning his numbers and the number 4 just dropped out of my head. I said 1,2,3,5,6 etc. he thought it was teasing him. Nope it just wasn’t in my head anymore

My first time posting in this thread.
I'm 48 and my periods have always been like clockwork. I started a period as expected 2 weeks ago. They last for about 7 days but aren't that heavy. (used to be 4 or 5 days but got longer as I've got older).
Today it seems I've started another period, only 14 days since my last expected one.
I'm a bit scared as this seems to have come out of nowhere.
I've never had any period weirdness before.
Could this be peri? Can it start this suddenly?
My cycle is virtually always 28 days usually.

Yes, sounds like peri. My periods were always relatively painless and lasted 2-3 days but I never had a 28 day cycle and was irregular yet in peri they started coming every 28 days, became more painful and lasted upto 7 days.

I kind of though periods got less frequent until they stopped in peri. Had no idea you could actually get them more frequently.
I did notice I was very emotional on Wednesday and struggled not to cry all day which I was confused at, it seems now it was hormonal.

I had a period every month well into my 50’s. I only started missing a few 2 years ago. Your periods are all over the place in peri but of course everyone is different.

I've had the "luxury" of always being very regular, I'm going to struggle with irregularities. 😩

Yes they can come more often than usual, less often, heavier or incredibly scant - like literally a slight smear. All over the place. You can also get phantom period pains when nothing actually happens. It's so wierd.

With me it varied so much. I was never a 28 day cycle anyway and my periods were very light lasting 2-3 days.
With peri I got flooding which was a huge shock (I was out shopping when it happened the first time 😮) and huge clots which I’d never had before. Sometimes I’d only go 2-3 weeks between each period and then other times I’d miss a month. I just ensured I carried protection with me at all times and I also kept a bath towel in my car in case it happened when I was out again so that I’d not ruin my car seat. 😳
I’ve been post menopausal for a whole week (yay!) but peri lasted 7 and a half years. 😬

My periods stuttered , then stopped for almost a year , I also lost completely interest in sex, and then my sleep was disrupted , was awake from 3am and that was me then until 6:30am ish!

Started taking hormone gummies, randomly , but also magnesium gummies, purely to aid the sleep..

Huge change is everything ..

Which gummies did you take if you don’t mind sharing?

I am absolutely plagued with palpitations at the moment. All day every day. Period still firmly AWOL (at 44 I think I’m too young for full menopause). Guess I need to see my GP, don’t I? 🙄
