My period is still completely AWOL (I’m on cycle day 67 and kind of dreading how awful it’s going to be when it does turn up) but the weirdest thing is how flat my stomach is. I am never this un-bloated. I wish I knew what was behind all of this.

6 days to go and I hit menopause! 🎉
I’m expecting to feel spectacular and full of energy and my belly large to disappear the next day! 😜😆

i had a 71 day earlier in year and i thought when it arrived it would be terrible i was the opposite bloated for ages like it was on its way for ages. Anyway it wasn’t at all terrible when it arrived very normal and im lucky cos i get minimal pain as a whole. However i did have another period much quicker 15 days later. They’ve settled back down again. Cycle 21-24 days and lighter.

Amongst the journey of sleeplessness, brain fog, itchy skin, bad back, exhaustion and strange periods … my husband decided it would be a good idea to describe a female he works with as ‘a pretty lady’ …..I think I need to get my peri-menopause book out and start leaving it around. Because I can tell you now at 46 years of age I don’t need to know there are very un-menopausal women out there clicking round the office in heels and tight tops, wafting their fertility in my husband’s face. It’s a bad day today 🤬
sorry to make your serious chat flippant but I really wish some younger model would take my husband as he’s getting right on my wick!
sadly these younger models probably aren’t interested unless they’re rich which we aren’t!

I had that. It wasn't even so much itchy as the sensation of tiny things scurrying around under my skin - and every hair follicle overly sensitive. All over. It was constant and such a misery. I literally gouged lumps out of myself at night and my legs and forearms especially were covered in scabs and fresh wounds. I didn't even know it was a symptom. Certain fabrics in the day made it worse eg I couldn't wear anything synthetic that didn't breath or like raincoat material.
I had to keep my nails incredibly short to stop self harming.
Lasted months, nothing helped, and then one day it just stopped. It was so wierd. Actually one thing did help which was exposing my skin to the hot sun (which I didn't like doing as it looked so awful). But this was in the summer so not helpful now.
Sympathies to anyone with this too. If it's any consolation I was terribly worried my skin would be badly scarred (and I was relieved it wasn't on my face or neck) but another wierd thing is there isn't a trace now a couple of years on.
Thanks for recommending the thread!

I've had really itchy arms, but never put 2 and 2 together! Thankfully that seems to have calmed down.

My knee is really killing me. Has anyone else had anything like that? I've no idea if it's structural or likely to be menopause related?!

It could well be menopause related.
I had wierd pain too - both thumb joints at the base, and also one big toe joint at the base. Shooting pains.
There are so many symptoms I've now mainly forgotten (I'm a few years into menopause) until somebody will mention one and I'll think 'oh yes bloody hell I had that too'.
Sigh.

Hi everyone, has anyone had a hysterectomy and managed without HRT? I’ve had Endo for yonks but now peri has also hit (I’m about 18 months in) and is making me miserable I’ve decided I’m just completely over it all and want the lot out but I’m scared of HRT promoting new Endo growth.

Well ladies. I’m finally there!
Today marks 1 year since my last period so today is menopause day and from tomorrow I’ll forever be post-menopausal.
Now if I don’t wake up tomorrow with zero belly large, no more insomnia, no more hot flushes and no more migraines then I’ll be seriously disappointed! 😜
I managed to get through it without HRT (not judging those who take it, but for medical reasons I chose not to) and I do think I’ve had it easier than most.
The worst for me, besides weight gain, brain fog and insomnia, is the migraines. I’ve had them since I was 20 (I’m 55 now). They’ve always been hormonal so I was hoping they’d stop when my periods stopped. Unfortunately this year I’ve had 2 of the worst migraines I’ve had in 35 years - one was just 2 weeks ago and I was close to calling 111 for morphine. So perhaps they weren’t just hormone related after all which is very disappointing. 🙁
Do symptoms stop now? Even though no periods for a year, I’ve still had hot flushes, etc (although less frequent than before) so will these peter out eventually? I’ve not seen a doctor for years so I thought I’d ask you knowledgeable lot instead. Thanks.

Some peoples seem to settle down but my sisters haven’t a year in to the menopause. She’s still on HRT. ( Symptoms improved when she started it but it didn’t all magically disappear on HRT but her ridiculous emotions were much better) My boss went on HRT a good few years later as she was struggling more!

I’ve read some people who said they’ve felt brilliant post menopause. So i guess it’s the same as anything related to hormones. We are all different.

Thanks. Although the other symptoms can be wearing, the migraines are so debilitating. After my last one it took me 6 days to recover. Usually it’s just the following day that I have a “migraine hangover” which I can cope with but I can‘t deal with 6 days. 😖🤯

Has anyone had vaginal oestrogen prescribed before and can tell me how it's affected them? Also has anyone dealt with prolapses and pessarys? I'm struggling and uncomfortable atm

I have been using this cream for six months. It has helped with uncomfortable pains and the feeling of constant cystitis. Good luck hope it works for you.

Thank you @Joanie . Trying to sort a Dr's appointment has been a nightmare. The urogynae nurses and women's pelvic floor physio have both suggested and recommended blood tests, HRT and vaginal oestrogen. Turns out my Dr's don't have a specific menopause nurse/clinic or doctor who is interested in it 🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️. After the hassle of requesting an appointment to go through it all and only being able to do so online, as you can no longer ring up, I've been told to have a telephone call. So despite other professionals recommending blood tests and things etc because of my age that doesn't seem to be happening, unless that can be done over the phone 🙃🙄. (Trying to get a female Dr was difficult enough). Has anyone gone private and what sorts of costs, or involvements did you have?

Itchy skin is a thing right? But what about itchy scalps specifically? Normally I can go 2-3 days without a wash (I have fine hair, so I don't like to wash it every day) and it's not at all greasy, but it's SO bleeping itchy. The first day is usually fine and by the start of the second it's just itchy all over.

I wondered the same, I've got a child of primary school age, but I've checked his hair, my husband's - it's literally just me itching like a mad woman. It's always worse first thing in the morning!

Yes! I want to literally scrub my skin and all over with a scouring pad it's that horrendous. Have you tried alternating shampoos aswell? Cool air from a hairdryer sometimes works to help alleviate it, otherwise it's antihistamines constantly to try and help
