I put one of the gel pads that use for aches & pains into the bed frozen. I wrap in a tea towel, I place in bed an hour before I go too bed

I have been in pursuit of the perfect nights sleep for years.

The Max Richter sleep app is really good but you need to like classical music.
Sleeping during these hot nights when you’re suffering from peri hot flushes is horrendous! Lost count how many times I woke up last night feeling like my body was on fire. I’m lucky I don’t actually sweat, but that feeling of not being able to cool down is awful 🥵 Very tired and headache today due to lack of sleep.
Not sweating is probably why you’re so hot. Have you got a water mister?

Random and seemingly silly question, but those who have been prescribed HRT did you have to be weighed at the appointment?

I was asked what my weight was but just said I didn’t know. I haven’t weighed myself for years as I’m ex ED. I was then asked if I was over or underweight and just said no.

Has anyone had their cholesterol level raised during peri? Mine has always being ok but is now raised. I have to see the Nurse next week.

I had that. Mine went from absolutely fine to borderline dodgy. I eat pretty healthily and exercise three times a week.

I have added ground linseed to my yoghurt at breakfast and try to eat an apple every day. Hoping that’ll help but think I probably need to check it again

During one of my eye appointments about three years ago the consultant said my level was slightly high, but also said that he felt the parameters were quite small and not to worry.

I was also told not to worry but I was still taken aback as I lead a pretty healthy lifestyle and was shocked even to be borderline

I have put on weight during meno but I don’t eat many bad foods. My parents both have/had high cholesterol though. I haven’t been given the reading yet but hoping they just advise me to diet. I have actually being dieting for 5 weeks and eating a lot of apples!

Having looked it up, it does say peri can elevate it due to drop in estrogen.

The few people I've known who were born with high cholesterol were told to exercise and they did without fail so it must help.

My slim, bike riding 82yr old grandma was told hers was high and she began this low large diet and that’s when her health began to decline. Maybe it would have anyway but she’d been healthy as a horse til then. She had all her natural teeth when she died, too.

Blood test done, practice nurse firmly on my side that it shouldn't have been necessary 'but don't get me started on women's health matters up here, if you were a bloke wanting viagra you'd have been prescribed it no questions' and she says there's a sympathetic female locum in next week so has booked me an appointment with her next Monday to discuss the results and, hopefully, get a prescription.

And I did have to stand on the scales and get my blood pressure taken as well.

Just thought I’d share this here. I feel like I’m starting to notice small changes since starting taking HRT through the patches less than two weeks ago.
I received a text from Mr Laz today, out of the blue to say he thinks my patches are starting to work, he said I seem more lively and more like my old self. Nice to hear.

Mr dr finally agreed to prescribe me some patches. Really hoping they make a difference.
