Discovered this thread on another.....how helpful.

I am 48, periods still monthly, started having migraines in 2017 aged 43 once or twice per month, definitely hormone related, still have them. They are not as bad as they used to be thank goodness.

Other things I've noticed is irrational anxiety about things or things that haven't even happened, also indecisiveness and procrastination, not sure if those are hormone related or just me 🤣

Oh the migraines don't sound like fun. Hope they continue to ease.

Re: Irrational anxiety. On Monday my hubby set off to work at 6.30am and about 5 minutes later I heard sirens in the distance. I spent the next half an hour imagining he'd been involved in a car crash until he text me. I was so anxious I couldn't even phone him incase he hadn't been involved in the imaginary crash but was driving on the motorway and my call might cause him to crash.

Absolutely nuts.

I don't recognise myself sometimes.

Menopause is a very debilitating thing at times.
All us ladies have similar symptoms mixed with other things like headaches etc.
Who else wakes up hot then shivering like flu, also sleeping for hours and hours.

Yup yo the irrational anxiety. Always thinking the worst will happen! Awful. I’m a chilled person so it drives me mad being so anxious

My husband says I've gone dithery at times. It's like I can't take things in. Like I'm confused if that makes sense?
My sleeping is awful. I take 100 mg of amitriptyline at night (for years) & thats not even helping at the min. My skin is also really sore. I get terrible allodynia symptoms but it's really bad at the min 😭

Anyone been called for a mammogram? Assume the HRT prescription has triggered it as I’m not 50.
Really not looking forward to it at all.

With reference to anxiety, I’ve always been a bit anxious about things but in my mid 40s it started getting ridiculous and I was unable to rationalise anything. Didn’t know it could be hormone driven. Went on HRT at 49 to help with night sweats and lack of sleep which went quickly and after a few months I realised my anxiety and general ability to cope were much improved. Better sleep will have helped but I firmly believe balancing my hormones was a significant factor plus I’m doing my best to protect my body from various conditions I desperately want to avoid in old age

Has anyone experience much shorter cycles? I’m in the process of trying to get a peri menopausal diagnosis but I have gone from a 28 day cycle and bleeding that lasts 6 days to a 23/24 day cycle and 1-2 days bleeding

Yes, every 2 weeks and now this one came 3.5 weeks later and it the worst one yet.

How old are you? I was asked to go for one at 47 as they were trialling whether to lower the age range from 50 to 47? Nothing to do with HRT.

It can be uncomfortable when they squash your breasts between the plates but it’s a very quick process. Takes no time at all.

Just turned 49, but looking at our area it is over 50s so I don’t know. I wondered because my GP was extremely vocal about breast cancer as his original reason for refusing me HRT. I had a bit of a fight to get it prescribed so I did idly wonder whether he’d requested it.

I shall go, much like smears I guess once youve had it you realise it’s not that bad.

Sounds like it was your GP but you’d think he would have told you he was doing it?

Yeah they’re not that bad they just move you into some awkward positions!

Probably not, he’s got a reputation for being a bit slipshod shall we say (god that’s a word I’ve not used in years 😂)

Yes it’s all routine because of our age, nothing to be worried about,if anything it’s good we’re being looked after.

I need some help. It feels like I’m losing my mind. I keep crying and I’m terribly low. HRT seems to make things worse. Is this how someone else feels and does it end.

Did you see a menopause specialist or just your GP. You need an adjustment on your HRT. It can take some time to get the right balance

HRT is not for everyone. I used to read on menopause matters forum and there were a few women where it really affected them and made their mental health worse. Please speak to your GP.

Since I had my daughter now 27yeats ago my periods have been regular but hot 45 and they went all over the place.
Really heavy and lots of clots and flooding. On holiday one year and couldn’t leave the toilet as it was just gushing out of me. Think dh became more sympathetic at that point.
Was prescribed tranexemic acid and have been using it for two years. Sometimes it doesn’t help.

Been speaking to the gp and she prescribed anti depressants well anti anxiety I think they are sertraline. Not really helping.

But yes to brain fog. Can’t remember simple words often and also my skin has suddenly become more lined and loose texture on my body. It’s weird. Almost like it was overnight.

If you do not have a history of depression your GP should not have prescribed anti depressants. Read the NICE guidelines and shove them in her face
