If stuff like that makes you laugh I can highly recommend doing some of the newer classes with participants as you can see some of their screens. You can see where some have really high resistance and cadance and they are DYING at the end.

I just spin and sing 🤣🤣✌

Bike arrived! Sad it wasn’t in a Peloton branded van though 😂 my shoes are too big which was a bit of an anti-climax so they’re on the way back and I had a go wearing my other half’s shoes. Impressed so far, stacking up the classes as we speak

Agreed there’s one couple and amount of time they’re at Ben and Leanne’s classes if I was them I’d be worried!

I’m on a few of the “crew” pages - Leanne, Ben, Hannah & Callie’s. Some of the fans are really sad. It’s almost obsessive. There’s one girl on Leanne’s page that I can’t stand, she’s always in the studio in the live rides and runs but she’s just so full of herself lol
I'm in most of these too and when I've been to the studio with my Husband he's actually said to one woman 'you're a bit weird obsessed aren't you' and I couldn't stop laughing because it's true! One woman and her instagram are cringey with her obsession and like she makes out she's friends with all of the instructors. See she takes her kids and husband to the studio too and it's all very weird

It’s embarrassing, I have my preferred instructors, mainly UK ones with a splash of Cody, I wish Leanne well with her health and think she’s an incredible woman for cracking on. However, the worship and the overall cult like followings are odd. It’s a bike/run/etc at the end of the day. I do it because I have to, people get more excited over a class/shoutout/instructor high-five than I do going on holiday 😂

OMG. That was the best 30 mins of my life. I felt like I was back in the clubs. I actually screamed during Insomnia 🤣🤣🤣

If i only ever do that ride over and over, it's worth the subscription fees
Agreed!!

Has anyone done the Alex and Tunde ride for BHM? It made me tear up a bit when Tunde said that Alex offered to share a class with her because not many people were taking her classes.

I really enjoyed Leanne’s class and the London studio doesn’t have the mirror behind the instructor like they do in NYC so people
In the studio aren’t so visible.

I got an email inviting me to the studio- had to fill out a form about the dates I wanted etc. Feel v lucky and I’m certainly no influencer!

Couldn’t think of anything worse than being recorded working out personally! Preferred the classes without members in the background but I’m quite looking forward to doing Cody’s pride ride - looked fun!

I just can’t believe it - so used to seeing her through the screen on the bike and she’s just carried on with her glasses and been her usual sparkly self and always brought playlists I love!

Its awful what she’s had to deal with but I’ve so so much respect for her bravery!

Penny for them

I have a Peloton and absolutely love it. I agree it is expensive compared to others, but you can do interest free payments of 50 quid for 39 months for the bike (total 1950) plus the 39 quid for the app. Comes to just under 90 quid a month but split between me and my husband that's 45 each which is a reasonable gym membership price IMO. Also this isn't just for a spin class... More on this later.

Now I am never the type to go for luxury brands or status symbols. I don't even own a designer bag or watch, can't understand why people would spend hundreds on shoes. Hate those who measure their own worth and others by how much designer shit they own.

But the Peloton really does seem to be a cut above the rest. We did SO much research-believe me my husband spent ages watching YouTube videos and reviews etc as did I. We almost went for the wattbike or nordic track instead and were going to just use the Peloton app (which is only 12.99 without the bike).

However I have never ever treated myself to anything premium or 'top of the range' before and after speaking to a couple of people who have the Peloton we just went for it. Initially its a 30 day trial anyway so if you decide its not worth it you can send the bike back.

I don't regret it at all. Firstly the bike looks amazing, it's so sleek and streamlined. Stream quality is amazing. The bike just feels good, much better than any spin bike I have been on, and I've been on a lot! But also the class quality is amazing, there's so many different instructors and class types to suit everyone. Plus if you used this app on another bike you wouldn't get the metrics show up on screen which is personally what pushes me to go further and improve upon every time I ride. It also shows you on a leader board against every other person in the world who has done that particular ride so its good for friendly competition etc.

Also the app isn't just spin classes. There's yoga, strength, cardio, running, bootcamp, stretching and they've just introduced barre (I'm hoping pilates is next!) Also bike bootcamp which is where you spend part of a class on the bike and part of the class in the floor with weights. Again all really good quality classes with decent music. If you have a few weights and a mat at home you're all set. Les Mills pales in comparison, I found this app horrendously cheesy, outdated and most of the music is awful cover songs.

Finally there's also a massive 'Peloton community' which isn't really my thing but there's Facebook groups and forums you can join where you all decide to ride together at a certain time etc. Plus lots of support, people have made friendships etc.

I must just sound like I work for Peloton but I genuinely love it and it's been worth it for me.
This. We have one ordered during lock down came9 weeks later worth waiting for-told absolutely no one except my parents-do a class most days at nap time -or bed time -the quality of classes music instructors community has really surprised and impressed me. I understand what people say about status showing off that's probably definitely been the reason I've not told anyone 😔 but it enriches my days and I feel I'm getting quality equipment even down to delivery and set up customer care etc and I am right now beyond grateful to have it x

He was probably messing around with members. Oliver was let go for sending dick pics to members and then all his content was wiped.

It is a total status symbol. If it was a really good bike (no idea if it is) and one was really into fitness, I could understand the once off outlay but the subscription every month?

I think that Peleton is a status symbol, first and foremost. It was definitely targeted at the Goop-esque wellness crowd first, and then the market expanded.

It’s like by having a Peleton you are telling others what kind of person you are - you’re paying for the name and its association more than the actual exercise, in my view.
Yes and people who use it call it a "peleton" rather than just saying "exercise bike". Look at me, I can afford it, is what they're saying

What does everyone think of the big staff lay off in America? I know/hope they don’t do these things lightly but it does concern me about the longevity of the company, I love my bike and peloton. Feel for those who have lost their jobs, must be very scary

The rich narcissists are in the UK Ladies Peloton facebook group, it's a bit of an eye opener at times!

I’ve borrowed an old (and crap) spin bike until my Peloton arrives so that I can try some of the classes. I’m loving it, did a 45 min one with Olivia yesterday and then just finished a Robyn boot camp one. This is going to be addictive and will be so much better on a decent bike.

I used to go to so many spin classes pre lockdown but having not been for so long all I can say is ouch 🍑
I can’t believe how much harder the peloton is to a normal spin bike....either that or I’ve been cheating myself all these years 😂
