I remember she denied it and called that guy all the names under the sun, encouraging her stand to do the same on social media.
I’m unsure how she explained the photos away though! 🤣

I interpreted that differently from that Gerry Agar book. I took the implication being that she got into drugs more to share that with him, and also due to the stress of the whole situation and him having other partners. Could be wrong of course!
They did seem to go on drug binges together but Gerry inferred in the book that the Rohypnol Paula was taking was to numb her during ‘eccentric sex acts’. It’s entirely speculation though. But female porn actors often take drugs to deal with the physical or emotional pain of some extreme acts - I’m not even sure some men realise how much pain and long term damage can be caused.

I imagine Paula was desperate to please Michael and never would’ve given him any reason to believe she wasn’t enjoying herself. He seemed to love sex and towards the end of his life at least, became more extreme in his behaviours.

Sorry 🙏. I didn't mean to sound like a twit and I'm sorry for what you have been through. Enjoy your brew and dunk xx
No bother lovely. Here's the strong stuff quoted from CDAN, was Peaches actually killed? Take as you will!

And I am not letting the Scientology weirdo's get away with any nonsense (they helped set Jim Carrey up with those stories about his itchy bits it seems!) and I'm rather into the Big Willy situation at the moment (Scientology weirdo's) so I'll be back on that all in good time. 🤓

He Killed Her: Apparently, he confessed. He got drunk and confessed. He did so to the sister of the woman he killed who he was also sleeping with. He says he killed her because she was going to leave him and take the kids. So, since she already had issues with drugs, he just gave her a little more while she was already passed out and she never woke up. Apparently the sister is not the first person he confessed to. He also confessed to a celebrity ex-girlfriend who is an ex-girlfriend because he told her. She thought she was the only one sleeping with him while he was married, but he was also sleeping with his wife and his sister-in-law. At this point, the whole family knows, and has known for almost two years that he did it. That he killed this celebrity. So far though, the family is willing to sweep it under the rug for the sake of the kids. They had already come to terms with the death and even though he was the one who added the extra to kill her, they have convinced themselves she would have ended up dead anyway. There is so much drug death in that family.

I’ve seen that blind item before - hard to believe but entirely possible!

It’s off topic but the Scientology link to Jim Carey and the media coverage about his ex girlfriend/STDs is fascinating - please tell me more!

I am almost done with Gerry Agar's book - thanks for the recommendation! Paula and Michael were absolutely toxic together and she was completely obsessed with him to an unhealthy degree and to the detriment of her daughters. It's absolutely exhausting to think about having to live at that level of constant drama at all times.

I do think that her leaving forced Bob to step up more than he was, although most of that credit may go to the nanny, Anita, and his now-wife Jeanne.

It weirdly does seem possible doesn't it! I also came aross the strangest old thread of weirdness that highlighted all the connections of another hero of mine had with the fam, Nick Cave. He was Peaches Godfather. It's one of those long and rambling threads involving a lot of conspiracy talk but I do wonder if there aren't a few truth hidden in there. https://alternaticity.boards.net/thread/19/strange-twisted-world-peaches-geldof

I am packing sandwiches and preparing a deeeeeep old dive on the scientology but currently it stands that she lied about the std's that's proven, she and family are scientologists and those weirdo's love putting out fake info and working peoples weaknesses, I shall return once the snow has ceased and have more than tenuous, but very possible, suspicions!

Wow, I remember seeing that link about Peaches a few years ago - a dark rabbit hole to explore. Thank you, I will have a re-read.

I also didn’t realise in the Jim Carey situation that the STDs were a lie! More to research…thanks again.

Question for those who have read Gerry Agar's book, did Paula come across as having a nice side to her? What's the best compliment you could pay her after reading the book?
I could never warm to her, albeit I only saw the media image which I believed fake, and read about the problems with drugs, toxic behaviour etc.

I actually liked her persona more before I read the book - she comes across as very manipulative and self-interested in the book, weaving lies throughout the years to benefit herself. She was clearly capable of being very charming and lovely but it’s hard to know how much of it was genuine. Even her desire to be a good mother to compensate for the mistakes of her childhood seemed to be a facade because her nanny was the real mother figure in the family and seemingly worked very hard to create a ‘perfect family’.

The fallout of her marriage with Bob and her relationship with Michael seemed to bring out the worst in her though. And who knows how much of Gerry’s account is truthful - she must’ve had an axe to bear after being frozen out of the inner circle.

Ultimately I feel sorry for Paula though - she had a difficult childhood and probably an undiagnosed personality disorder or mental health condition.

Thank god for the nanny, seems to have been a sensible woman who went over and above the job description. It seemed from what I've read that she genuinely cared about the girls and kept in touch with them.

I was pretty much indifferent to Paula when she was alive, but after reading the Gerry Agar book I think she was a shallow, manipulative person; neither her, Bob or Michael come across as likeable.

I’ve read the Agar book and I didn’t like Paula at all, however I also think Agar had a bit of an axe to grind, for whatever reason. I really did enjoy that book though. It’s the one of the best celeb exposes out there.

I’ve also read the autobiography that Paula herself wrote and I really liked her in that. She came across as someone who was very self deprecating and could take the piss out herself. However, I never really warmed to her public persona, but looking back at her tv career, she was a brilliant presenter and interviewer. There was just something about her that rubbed people (i.e the audience and the public) up the wrong way. She was one of those women (like Sadie Frost and Pearl Lowe and probably in a sense, Katie Price) who can’t cope without a man. They always seem to move from one relationship to the next without any breathing space in between.

FWIW, I think MH and Paula wouldn’t have gone the distance. She used getting pregnant with Tiger as a way to keep him tied to her, probably like she did with Bob, but Hutchence was a grown man who could have prevented that if he’d really wanted to. I also think that Paula got the crappy end of the stick when the relationship was revealed, even though Hutchence was equally to blame (I mean, he was shagging his mates wife and had a girlfriend himself!). The way the press vilified her was pure misogyny, but part of that was because she wasn’t popular with the public.

Oops I mixed up ‘axe to grind’ and ‘grudge to bear’ 😂

I think Paula’s self-deprecation and sense of humility (and humour, actually) was why I felt warm towards her before I read Gerry’s book. I should probably read Paula’s autobiography for balance but I’m reluctant to since Gerry’s book indicates Paula saw it entirely as a money-making exercise that skimmed the surface and left a lot out.

Completely agree they wouldn’t have lasted as a couple. It seemed to be falling apart at the seams towards the end, with Paula spending a lot of time alone with Tiger and Belinda, her friend. I think Paula would have ended her life (accidentally or otherwise) whenever Michael left her, whether that was through suicide or for another woman - she seemed so, so obsessed with him.

Yes, Paula’s own book doesn’t go into much detail about her relationship with MH or BG for that matter as I recall, but it’s been years since I read it. There’s quite a bit of stuff on her childhood though which is interesting.

I also think I agree that Paula would have ended her life one way or the other, especially if MH moved on to someone else. I think they were absolutely terrible for each other and I also think if they’d never met, they’d probably both still be alive today. With a different partner, Hutchence might have got the help he needed and Paula might have found someone who loved her properly, rather than launching herself at men who weren’t arsed either way. She really needed therapy to unravel those unhealthy patterns. I think she had incredibly low self esteem but thought if she could get these ‘high status’ men, then that would solve her problems and make her worthy somehow. It’s a shame, because she was a quirky, talented and funny woman in her own right.

Yes, it's quite surreal as its ends just as she got with Michael, as you say with no real detail but both extremely happy. Within a couple of years, they were both dead. I only read it quite recently but it's quite a funny feeling to think as she wrote that last sentence she had no idea her world was about to come crumbling down.

I haven't thought about any of them in years, find it a bit sad.

I looked up their ages just now so Peaches was 25, Paula 41 and Michael 37.
