Fascinating. I LEFT the beer groups years ago 🍉 because of the toxicity on there. It actually somewhat frustrates me that two cis white males (JR and RA) don't use TMUW to talk about breweries run by marginalised folk & those not hugely represented in the beer scene. This, coupled with copious mentions of fucking brewdog, tiny rebel etc, particularly in the beginning, pissed me off. There are SO many fantastic breweries that they could be shouting about, but alas. Was great to hear Sam Smith's get their comeuppance in one episode tho!
yeah I get you, I dont really listen to that podcast much as I find it fairly boring if Im honest. They did have Lily Waite on and I actually found the one with a beer writer Emma something? really interesting but generally its a skip for me

So... I was thinking (and believe me I hope I'm wrong).

The "Great Reset" advert was very John heavy (we've generally said its not a great advert for them, and I'm going to guess they know that too, so why wouldnt they have simply recorded it properly when Elis arrived?).

Is there any way at all that they could be doing with the podcast what they do with This Morning... John as the "main host" but with a revolving door of regular "friend of 9the show" co-hosts? Maybe Elis is around for a set regular contracted amount to keep the PCDs happy?

I thought ages ago that they were lining up Lou to come in as Elis missed a few and they were really pushing her for a bit (I know some of you are fans but for me, not in place of Elis).

Elis obviously has other things he's involved in and it just got me thinking if this Great Reset could be the official way of making changes?

The best parts of the podcasts are the prerecords at the start anyway! Is it not better to have guaranteed podcasts instead of them being pulled off air at a moments’ notice. Morons.
Completely agree. I appreciate breaking news takes precedence but this sounds like a good solution

Just friends, from his email newsletter in January:

Finally, very few people get to spend a huge amount of time with their guardian angels, let alone with their kittens and flatmate Luke. Even fewer get to play dodgeball with them or taste the hot avocado they have cooked for you in complete disregard of all culinary traditions, tastes and basic human logic. So imagine how lucky I feel not only to experience all of the above, but also to be on their live podcast ‘Cuddle Club’ at The Soho Theatre for A VALENTINE’S SPECIAL WHERE WE WILL DEFINITELY FIND OUR RESPECTIVE WIVES AND HUSBANDS. Alas, tickets have sold out, after all, say what you like about cutie pies like us, but we don’t half get bums on seats. However it would brighten the day of the brightest person I know if you subscribed to Lou Sanders’ Cuddle Club Podcast. Also it’s brownie points / more hot avocado for me as I asked her to sign up to this newsletter to check it was working. Come to think of it, not a bad test to see if she’s read to the end.

You’re all going to hate me but I am struggling to listen to the episodes with ivo as guest host because
his voice breaks all the time like a spotty teen and it grinds my gears. It’s especially bad when I’m wearing headphones. How is this man paid to speak on stage?! It is so grating.

Congratulations!!!

*Miserable cow face* listening to the podcast now and...a child you don't know in a giddy show off talking to adults mood is fairly irritating after 30 seconds (Although I fully empathise with childcare issues and can only imagine how stressful taking your child to live radio is)
Just catching up now (after two days of dealing with my friend's daughter who's been in a similar mood when she's stayed over) and I completely echo your sentiment.

Completely empathise, but can't understand how it was allowed. Could understand perhaps Rob and Josh doing it on their parenting podcast, but this seems a bit forced almost. Surely she could have just sat in the corner quietly?

That said, she's very well spoken which I liked. She sounded very grown up, I thought she was younger! I also liked her comment about her "book phase" as I was a big reader as a kid! It's good to get into and be excited about, especially at a young age.

Ooh can you share the X doc? Sounds great
It's on Amazon Prime, it's called "The Story of Xfm". I found it really interesting as I didn't realise the origin. Sadly none of the xfm characters we know and love from today or recent era are featured. It's centred around the 90s.

I’m so looking forward to seeing Howl, love that (almost?) everyone here is going. Could do with a laugh…

my anxiety is at an all time high. Every time my FTBF is driving somewhere I’m convinced he’s going to get into an accident. Last night when I was on my way home to him I was imagining him dead at home, specifically dying by suicide and how he’d have done it. Whenever my mum calls I assume someone in the family is dead. If a virtual meeting starts late I’ll frantically check and re check the link, convinced I’ve got it wrong. So big and little things. It is fucking exhausting. I’m having therapy for OCD at the mo and don’t feel like I can tackle this at the same time.

missing HYDC at the mo as the mental health related eps make me feel less alone with it all. Does anyone know of any similar pods that talk about MH stories in a similar way?
It's shit when your brain decides to make you worry or grasps onto something that probably won't happen... especially when you're trying to deal with something else at the same time.

The other day my boyfriend was a little bit late coming home and I was worrying that he had died. Turns out he just stopped off at his mum's on the way back. It's ridiculous when I look back, but at the time I time I was getting concerned. I'm not sure I can offer any help or advice, but I hope that sharing a similar thought the other day makes you feel less alone. I try to disassociate the thoughts in my brain from reality, so my brain isn't controlling me.. if that makes sense? So I'll tell myself that my brain is just trying to latch onto something and there's no evidence to point to that thought.. i.e. shut up brain. It doesn't work all the time, but it's good for things like panicking about whether or not I've locked the front door 100 miles away from home.
Sorry I can’t offer any advice on mental health pods but I'm sending you lots of strength and love ❤

Listening to this week's ep... and this might be an unpopular opinion but I'm not enjoying Ivo Graham on it. I've never noticed this before, and I enjoy watching him on Taskmaster, but he umm's and ahhh's and stutters quite a lot and I find it reallyyy annoying (I'm clearly turning into my mother). It happens almost every time he speaks and it just doesn't make for good radio/podcast/audio.

Maybe he was having an off day, or maybe I'm a bit more irritable this morning 😅
