Do you mean that all the jokes in the past about being paid £1m quid as an advertising exec could actually be in-jokes because that’s what he’s actually doing?!
BRB to look through the portfolio to see if I can spot ‘freedom you can trust’ as a tagline
Unless John has an alias of 'Melanie Harrison' which the government recognises...this is just a marketing agency in Amersham, not inside his house.

Last time I got involved in trouble was when I dared suggest Jack Monroe wasn't quite the Saviour of the Poors as others thought. I wonder how that would play out now!
I remembering reading your post! “She does so much good” what exactly?!

So, it's going to be two podcasts per week, but no live show! Just best bits of the pods broadcast where the show used to be :(

That's a bit sad - it could just be any old podcast in that case. Ah well, I'm sure there are reasons...
It’s pretty much what is on before them - a podcast pre record. It’s still a Friday fix plus another podcast. Save for the chat with Adrian / Tony, I can’t say there would be a massive shift in content? I think it’s unsustainable to be doing a live show every week when they are already pulled in different directions so I’m happy it’s not going completely!

I'm sure nobody else finds Lou Sanders as funny as she finds herself. I actually don't mind her that much but every time she speaks when guest presenting the show she starts guffawing before she's halfway through her sentence. Honestly she really isn't suited to this kind of show. If we can't have Elis, bring back Ivo!

I did wonder that!
Hasn't he posted about being at a gig tonight? Also, it's possible he's just cat sitting. He seems like the kind of mate who'd do that. I seem to recall him talking about someone else's cats and watching them too?

I was wondering what it would be too.. My vote is something Queen related. I don't think the jacket in case it got ruined? but I reckon it'll make an appearance in the show. Or he's had a backup one made!
he mentioned in a pod recently that he's got 2 of them, so that would make sense as I'm sure they have to have multiples for task outfits?!

He made a dig at ‘whybhave a radio show. Just have 2 podcasts’ when they were talking about James Acaster right at the end of the pod.
Because BBC decides where to put the content it owns I suppose. I don’t know, it does still confuse me a bit how it’s all working, and I appreciate your friends sometimes being confused about some of your choices, but they all still seem pals so I assume he was making a comment as a producer? Would hope it’s not a dig

Yes, there was a lot of posting that I left the other, more patient group members to respond to!

To be honest, when someone who is clearly unwell posts a lot about their illness and personal life on groups like that, it makes me feel uncomfortable for a few reasons. They may be given bad/unsafe advice (even if it is well-meaning). They may also become too dependent on the group as an outlet/counselling service - what happens when the group can't be there for them or inevitably give them the help/advice they need? They may also share information that should not be public or could be triggering. And what about if they allude to something like self-harm? What does the group do then? It's a minefield. That's why I tend to stay well away from any posts of that nature.

I do think it's good for people who are a bit lonely or bored, though. In most cases, it can be a friendly space for that stuff. A bit like the JM threads! I definitely came out of boredom and stayed for the many lols and the excellent ☕.

Agree TMUW can be quite dull. I pick and choose which eps to bother listening to and tend to veer towards female guests as they're always more interesting!

The Elis and John show is such a totally different beast. I'm surprised they both haven't had more success as comedians - I don't think I would fit their demographic particularly (I'm female, 30s, have no interest in football, golf or really anything else they get exited about!) and I adore them. I know Elis does a lot of other stuff but John still seems to struggle a bit?

me too. Instant fail.
I only listened to the first mention of the vintage handlebars last night (still behind, but slowly catching up)... so all this chat has me looking forward to the second rendition along with the random stories from random people. At least I won't be confused 😄

Also catching up on my commute this morning and just heard the Radcliffe anecdote - can confirm he’s a fucking creep and tried to talk me and a pal into a threesome at a festival, shortly after recounting us with a tale which included a description of childbirth as ‘like watching your favourite pub burn down’.
What the fuck??!
