As I was scrolling and scrolling (questioning why I'm a tattler if I couldn't find this information in 5 seconds flat), I was thinking people don't half post a load of crap in here. Like you, I've muted it so never really paid too much attention to it before, but it is a weird group.

To be honest, when someone who is clearly unwell posts a lot about their illness and personal life on groups like that, it makes me feel uncomfortable for a few reasons. They may be given bad/unsafe advice (even if it is well-meaning). They may also become too dependent on the group as an outlet/counselling service - what happens when the group can't be there for them or inevitably give them the help/advice they need? They may also share information that should not be public or could be triggering. And what about if they allude to something like self-harm? What does the group do then? It's a minefield. That's why I tend to stay well away from any posts of that nature.

Yeah, this really worried me. I felt worried for the people emotionally invested in giving support. I felt worried for random people who weren't terminally online and would make an off-hand comment unaware of the wider context that caused a spiral. And I felt worried that the group really wasn't very good for them - it clearly was good day-to-day but in a longer term view... It all just felt a bit toxic and unhealthy.

I think part of why Tattle works so well is the 'no moderating threads' rule. If you don't like something, you have to leave and find a new thread, or get over it and carry on posting whatever it is you want to post. It kind of forces acceptance of other people's views. Whereas the PCD group likes a 'that was so not rainbow rhythms' shamefest.

I do get where you're coming from, but he definitely mentions her a lot more than the lovely Robin who he is one of his great friends and shares a podcast with, so is kind of in his interest to talk about him more. That bit on the latest pod ep has swung it for me. and she bought back treats from her America trip.

Just throwing in my tuppenceworth (albeit I do also sway towards being a #shaggingtruther).

One of my closest friends is someone I speak to every day and a lot of my stories start with "oh I was speaking to Dave" or "Dave and I were having a debate about that". Dave is married, his wife is lovely and I'm friends with her too but my friendship is primarily him. Our friendship really grew closer over the past year to the point I've been asked if there was something going on with Dave. There absolutely isn't it's just he's become the person I speak to the most out of all of my friends. If I was speaking to Jill the most I'm sure no-one would be batting an eyelid.

Maaaaaaybe John and Lou are the same. They've been spending more time together recently so a lot of stories are "oh Lou and I" which maybe we haven't noticed before because they were peppered with Robin stories too.

Orrrr maybe my earlier theory that they're talking Lou up so much because she's being lined up to replace Elis because he's so busy with other projects and something has to give. I noticed Matt Lucas has left bake off because he's so busy. I wonder if 5live will he Elis's one to drop? Everything else seems to be his real passion projects, and I wonder if he's kept this one going for so long because of his friendship with John and not wanting to let him down, especially when John wasn't as "in demand" and as mainstream as Elis. And now John has other irons in other fires, maybe he can step back guilt free?

God sake. Based on what? Maybe it was mutually agreed they wouldn't mention it on the show until John was ready. Or maybe they really didn't notice. But guess what... alcoholics hide things. John lives alone. They don't always record together and what can they deduce from an afternoon together a week.

God people can be such tubes.

I listened to a lot of the shame wells last night when I couldn’t sleep. I’ve downloaded this one so I can listen to the opening 20 seconds whenever I want. It’s incredible. I must have listened to it 10 times already.

John is a guest team captain on the latest Pappy's Flatshare Slamdown. It is great fun (though I think Pappy's might be an aquired taste? But I adore them). Matthew Crosby (who is 1/3 of Pappy's) also does the Sunday Radio X show with Ed Gamble (which I also love).

Hammers... what happens in all this Lou name-dropping is just to warm us up for her to eventually be Elis' replacement (when in fact it's just spurred all these rumours )

The PCD group on Facebook really has gone down the pan hasn’t it. Rejoined FB to get in touch with one of my cousins and someone has posted a photo of a phone booth which they deem smells of piss. Probably *relevant*. Anyway, who am I to judge. Potato.

No it’s totally lost its way. I was in a few offshoot ones and even they stopped being about the boys and ended up being a group where any old shite was posted. I can’t fathom sharing what some people are happy to share with, let’s be honest, total strangers.

Sorry for the double post but has anyone listened to the beginning of the pod yet?
When John mentions he regularly stays at a friends in London and she leaves the fridge open whilst she’s cooking!!!! Never been more convinced, even though he calls himself a single man in the same link.

Hello me again (yes I’ve had a wine) I was reading an article earlier this week about Sara P’s ‘lads lads lads’ show and it said she talked about her and John unsuccessfully trying for a baby for two years during their relationship. That must be fucking hard. Don’t know what my point is except that it gave me a new level of respect and admiration for our Johnny JR.

Darkness of Robins almost broke me. The whole show, whilst funny, was such a gut punch.

John really does deserve the bloody world.

Listening to the most recent episode, thrilled to hear that dc whatsitcalled will be finishing next week. It was horrendous.
