Clitheroe is 5 laps with a disgusting hill, and it’s so steep down that it doesn’t feel like a break!

Whys it bonkers do you have cross the river?
Used be one Bradley Stoke way but don't think there is anymore.
Think bath has one but imagine quite hilly.
Some times good to have a change.

Yep, it's flat but it gets quite congested at the start so you have to factor that in. It's relatively unexciting though compared to others. I've heard rumours of a new one in the Bradley Stoke area, but they've gone quiet recently. Also heard rumours of a St George one, which might alleviate some of the Eastville pressure. That'd be good!

Isn’t the issue with French parkruns the requirement for French mass participation sporting events to have a medical certificate?

We no longer need them in France and not all races needed them beforehand.

Italy also has that requirement but parkrun didn't stop their runs.

I’d flag this to the RD, parkrun have safeguarding guidelines and that’s the sort of thing the event team need to know about

The event team know, they was going HQ for advice to what to do. Apparently they are new to the area.

Does anyone know of a parkrun which has moved location? Ie they are still in the same town but moved to a new area and course?
(Doing a bit of research for an event director who is considering moving an event to a different location but in the same area)

Our local Parkrun moved , apparently it was because of Parkrunners misusing the toilets in the cafe at the start/finish. When I say misusing I mean not leaving them in a very good condition Not sure if this is true. The finish has been moved to a leisure centre carpark.

I always tell my daughter she's only competing against herself.... she was mighty pissed off this weekend because she came 30th and she usually comes 26th (weird.... she has been in the same position for weeks on end! ) so she was adamant it was her worst parkrun ever.... she'd actually run a bit faster than last week, there were just more kids there this week

I was hoping to take our LO to junior parkrun in a few years but I think I'll skip it if there's hundreds of pushy parents there. I grew up in a competitive dance atmosphere, I don't need that shit!

Noooo definitely go, it's lovely! The majority are not pushy, just the odd daft one that stands out!

I think my parkrun might be a rarity but we have probably 10 volunteers who volunteer most weeks and have never taken part, or they have in the past but don’t anymore.

I've been that person who's been self conscious of my running ability, I used to look at the previous year's race results to see would be last if I ran and I've chosen not to run races because I had visions of being miles behind everyone else, convinced they would forget I was still out on the course and pack up to go home! Silly I know but genuinely that was my thought process. Even when I started parkrun many years ago I was sometimes mindful of being "one of the last" - this was before tail walker was mandatory. And parkrun have addressed this since by introducing the tail walker and park walker roles.
Parkrun can't be everything to everyone. Things like first finishers, course records, age grading - meant nothing to me when I started out in parkrun, and still don't interest me that much. But they are important to some people. I actually find the first finisher's page interesting at times - sometimes we have father/ daughter or mother/son first finishers or first finishers who are a couple.

Yeah! I’ve done exactly the same with races to check if I’ll be last! But like you said it doesn’t mean we think that fast runners shouldn’t be shown, it just means there’s more need for more of us slow runners!

Yeh sorry the reports of driving issues weren’t to do with over the limit driving (I’m sure that’s pretty rife on NYD anyway…) more people trying to get to the furthest away possible and catch the tail Walker…

Sounds like Eastville to me!

Yes it's Eastville which is so busy as most central in Bristol.
Some very fast runners there.
500 to 600 most weeks with few tourists
That lake goes on forever but my favourite lap.

I also do pomphrey Hill which is not as busy and more fun run atmosphere.

Never done Ashton court/ chipping Sodbury or Keynsham.

I was asked (not complaining) to switch from barcode scanning to tokens and the RD will get a faster runner to scan. He said he was at a parkrun where the RD had mentioned someone had done over 100 runs but never volunteered. That isn't going to make me volunteer.

On the flip side, I was at juniors where almost every marshal point had 2 volunteers - they had almost double the amount of volunteers. My friend (ED) said he never turns away a volunteer. I've seen some that do and it puts me off.
