I can't believe how many empty seats there are at some of the events.
Honestly i am not surprised. The system to get tickets was really awkward and it was way too expensive. I wanted to see equestrian but there were never any tickets available, then it was 250€ for 2h of gymnastic, swimming and athleticism were between 300 and 600€, diving was also out of price. The only event that i want to see and was affordable was the rugby 7 but it wasn't worth it to go to Paris just for this.

Those prices are crazy.

yes! (always surprises me too) - he’s commentated for the bbc for years for it, i think he was north of england champion as a teenager but gave it up.

edit: sorry now you’ve got three responses on this 🤣🤸🤸🤸🤸🤸
Ah I wonder why they don’t get someone who had more recent success as a gymnast to commentate? Reminds me a bit of Andrew Castle being wheeled out for Tennis every year.

I'm actually heartbroken for him. I feel like his coaches aren't going to be too sympathetic and he could have lost China the gold. He looks shattered.

i suppose (for matt b absolutely NOT for castle) that he’s a good mix of having decent knowledge and being a natural presenter, which you can’t guarantee that an actual successful olympian will be. i’m sure that the bbc will be tapping up max whitlock though!

Aw delighted for Japan but feel really sorry for that Chinese gymnast. Japan are so happy. They're all bawling

China are second place! I thought the way they are acting they had won nothing! (I get that it’s different for them, it’s gold or nothing)

Off to the Chinese version of the gulag he goes ... never to be seen or heard from again. Have you seen the way the Chinese train their gymnasts? Bloody brutal.

You guys might know - I was wondering if there was a reason why female gymnasts leotards are quite revealing compared to men who have long leggings? Is there a performance reason?

I’ve been discussing this with the OH, why can’t they wear tiny tight shorts like the divers do? It would make it more equal with the women.

I think the only reason is men writing rules about the outfits

I think given Chinese ambitions, silver IS a disappointment. I reckon if they don't top the medals table overall heads will roll.

That's why I'm worried about him. He's going to be in big trouble

I'm watching the mens gynmastics on discovery + but it keeps cutting away to adverts. Is there anyway to stop the adverts? I thought discovery + was advert free but it seems to say eurosport 1 for this sport?
If you scroll down on the Paris 2024 section of the app there’s a bit that says Every Moment Live - No Ad Breaks, go through that to find the sport you want
