Maybe it’s another faze just like being a Buddhist that all stopped as soon as raven came along

Shes just wants the easy life and to have 20 kids and someone else to look after them

Yeah when I read all the guff about the eco village I did think “hmm wouldn’t be that if travellers moved down the road from you, you wouldn’t be praising their alternative lifestyle, you’d be huffing about your house value”

Also, her vision of an eco village ain’t very feminist is it. Women just there to look after the kids and grow the food...where are the men? What parenting would they be doing??

The men would be harvesting the wheat and drinking ye olde Grog

They're sending her to nursery!

I'm confused by the fact they've said she'll be going to nursery and reception though. Round here, a place in a school nursery doesn't guarantee a place in the reception, you have to apply for that in the autumn. Is it a different system there? Or is it a private school?

She cannot accept even the insinuation that she may face parenting struggles can she?! Someone's said it might be hard to home school with a baby around (IS SHE PREGNANT OR NOT?) and she's all PEOPLE HOMESCHOOL WITH 10 KIDS. Yes Pea, but just because some do, doesn't mean you could. I have one child. The Radford family have... Is it 22 now? I could not look after 22 children just because someone else does. She refuses to accept that she may have limits. Gentle parents for you, THE LIMIT DOES NOT EXIST. (No offence intended to gentle parents, more to her brand of gentle parenting)

If it’s the school I think it is, then it’s an independent school. It is run by parents and local people, and a lot cheaper than most independent schools. If they only go part time once school age, then your child is still technically home educated according to the local authority, and you pay for them to go there for 2 or 3 days a week which is sort of treated as an extra curricular type club (even though they are delivering academics when they are there). I have friends with children who attend.

How does she expect to afford that when they're planning to jack in their jobs and move to an eco village?

Let’s not forget that the families who homeschool tons of kids are ALWAYS Christian fundies who don’t want their kids to be tainted by the outside world

Another preggo hint ‘ I can’t stop eating coleslaw atm!’

Using the money she gets from exposing those hot dog nips?

I’m a bit late to the party here but I’m so glad I found this thread! I’ve been following for about 5 years now, I found her through pregnancy hashtags when she was pregnant with her Son, we were a similar generation. I know it sounds corny but I literally felt every emotion when she lets everyone know he had very sadly passed and her subsequent journey into grief, but after she had Raven I really started to notice a change in tone, the ‘I don’t judge anyone’ holier than thou attitude whilst subsequently judging those that give their child a structured routine, and god forbid.... formula. I feel like she’s lost a lot of herself since having her little one, she very obviously loves her and wants the best for her but I can’t help but feel she might be sowing the seeds of damage for later in her life. Also on occasion (I think like most people) I have lost my temper with my child and I begrudge feeling bad that I haven’t explored his feelings behind a petit filous and a perfectly good dinner being thrown up the wall

Would she even get help from the government for nursery? Because when they turn 3 if both parents are in full time work they get 30 hours free? She doesn’t work full time so would have to pay? How the hell do they afford everything on Deans wage? Also if Allsaints make it another 5 years on the highstreet I’d be very surprised!
I know its been mentioned before the that floor though Filth! Crumbs and crap everywhere.

I’m sure the majority of 3 year olds are entitled to some type of provision. I think all of them are entitled to 15 hours.

The school sounds like a mish mash to be honest, does it even follow the national curriculum? How is there any consistency of children and coming and going flitting between home schooling all the time? Just baffles me. Also, what happens if a child throws a chair and injures another child (extreme I know but stay with me here..) is there no punishment or separation? Do they all sit round the campfire and sing cum by ya exploring the feelings behind the chair throw?

Sounds to me like it’s a school set up by crunchy parents for crunchy parents I don’t think many state schools offer “flexi-schooling” (I know my local primary doesn’t) so this appeals to people who want to home school but also allow their kids to socialise with other (carefully vetted, crunchy-parented) kids.

I’ve actually never heard of a school like this before. I’m almost surprised there aren’t more of them.

She'd get 15 hours, every 3 year old gets that regardless. You have to have two working parents for 30 hours so may be entitled as she works as a TA. They both need to work minimum 16 hours per week each.

I was wondering recently if I’m a crunchy parent but I’m not really. I’m more like a crisp from a packet that’s been open for 24 hours. There’s an element of crunch but really it’s not fully there
